• What are Collaboration Data Objects (CDO)?

  Collaboration Data Objects or CDO, is a component that enables messaging between applications. It's something like the MFC we have in VC++ that enables us to prefer a simpler interface compared to the WIN32 API which, as an interface, still requires lots of escalation work by developers (yet very robust!). CDO is primarily built to simply the creations of messaging applications and we should keep in mind that CDO is NOT a new messaging model but is BUILT ON the MAPI architecture. It is just an extended interface that collaborates with MAPI and simplifies the programming task at hand for creation of messaging applications. CDO replaced Microsoft's earlier Active Messaging. CDO 1.2 enables us to play around with Data, send, receive emails and a host of other functions like rendering in exchange functionalities into HTML and do loads of other stuff. If you've got some firsthand experiences, a couple of tips will be great and will defiantly further my knowledge base in this area and hopefully get me a more refined understanding. Some pointers on MAPI will be pretty cool.

• Can't mount windows partition?

  When I try to open the Windows Partition from Ubuntu I receive the error: Unable to mount 55 GB Filesystem Error mounting: mount exited without exit code 13: ntfs_mst_post_read_fixup_warn: magic: 0x04010400 size: 1024 usa_ofs: 1026 usa_count: 1026: Invalid argument Record 6 has no FILE magic (0x4010400) Failed to open inode FILE_Bitmap: Input/output error Failed to mount '/dev/sda2': Input/output error NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot into Windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very important! If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/directory, (e.g. /dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the 'dmraid' documentation for more detail. Additionally, I can't open the Windows Partition. I've tried updating it many times but it won't show up on GRUB. Does anybody know what all this means? And how I might fix it? I thank you for any help in advance

• The Apple iPad &ndash; I&rsquo;m gonna get it!

  Ad:: SharePoint 2007 Training in .NET 3.5 technologies (more information). Well, heck, here comes another non-techie blogpost. You know I’m a geek, so I love gadgets! I found it RATHER interesting to see all the negative news on the blogosphere about the iPad. The main bitch points are - No Multi tasking No Flash Just a bigger iPhone. So here’s the deal! My view is, the above 3 are EXACTLY what I had personally hoped for in the Apple iPad. Before the release, I had gone on the record saying - “If the Apple Tablet is able to run full fledged iTunes (so I can get rid of iTunes on my desktop, I don’t like iTunes on Windows), can browse the net, can read PDFs, and will be under $1000, I’ll buy it”. Well, so, the released iPad wasn’t exactly like my dream tablet. The biggest downer IMO was it’s inability to run full iTunes. But, really, in retrospect, I like the newly released iPad. And here is why. No Multi tasking and No Flash, means much better battery life. Frankly, I rarely multi task on my laptop/desktop .. yeah I know my OS does .. but ME – I don’t multi task, and I don’t think you do either!! As I type this blogpost, I have a few windows running behind the scenes, but they are simply waiting for me to get back to them. The only thing truly running and I am making use of, other than this blogost, is media player playing some music – which the iPad can do. Also, I am logged into IM/Email – which again, iPad can do via notifications. It does the limited multitasking I need, without chewing down on batteries. Smart thinking, precisely the reason I love the iPhone. I don’t want a bulky battery consuming machine. Lack of flash? Okay sure, I can’t see Hulu on my iPad. That’s some loss. I can see youtube. Also, per Adobe I can’t see some porn sites, which I don’t want to see on my iPad. But, Flash is heavy. Especially flash video. My dream is to see silverlight run on the iPhone and iPad. No flash = not such a big loss. Speaking of battery life – 10 hours is plenty. I haven’t been away from electricity for that long usually, so I’m okay with charging it up when it runs low. It’s really not such a big deal honestly. Finally, eBook functionality – wow! I went on the record saying, eBook readers are not for me, but seriously, the iPad is perfect for my eBook needs at least. And as far it being just a bigger iPhone? I’ve always wanted a bigger iPhone, precisely for the eBook reading experience. I love my iPhone, I love the apps on it. The only thing that sucks about the iPhone is battery life, but other than that, it is the best gadget I have ever bought! And something that runs on mobile chips, is that thin, and those newly written apps .. mail, calendar .. I am very very excited to get my iPad, which will be the 64gig 3G version. The biggest plus in an iPad ……… no contract on data. I am *hoping*, this means that I can buy a SIM card in Europe, and use the iPad here. That would be killer awesome! But hey, if I had to pick downers in the iPad, they would be - - I wish they had a 128G Version. Now that we have a good video viewing machine, I know I’d chew up space quickly.- Sync over WIFI, seriously Apple.  Both for iPhone and iPad.- 3 month wait!!- Existing iPhone users should get a discount on the iPad data plan.   I have an enemy that I would like to move as follows: Start at (0, 200, 0) Move to (200, 0, 0) Move to (0, -200, 0) Move to (-200, 0, 0) Move to start point, repeat as long as it remains active. This is what I've done to achieve that: if (position.X < 200 && position.Y > 0) { Velocity = new Vector3(1, -1, 0) * speed; } else if (position.X >= 200 && position.Y <= 0 && position.Y > -200) { Velocity = new Vector3(-1, -1, 0) * speed; } else if (position.X <= 0 && position.Y <= -200) { Velocity = new Vector3(-1, 1, 0) * speed; } else { Velocity = new Vector3(1, 1, 0) * speed; } It moves to the second point, but then gets stuck and appears to vibrate in place. How should I be doing this?

  The problem: When we were sending newsletters to customers, there was no way to confirm if the customer already received the mail. So the boss decided to implement this idea: Boss's Idea: Each time mail was being sent, do an INSERT in a db with the title of the newsletter being sent and the email address which is receving the email address. To ensure that any email address does not receive the same email twice, do a SELECT in the table and find the title of the newsletter being sent: if (title of newsletter is found) { check to see of the email we are sending mail to is already present. if it does, do not send mail } else { send mail } MY idea: create a column called unique and mark it as UNIQUE. Each time mail was being sent, concatenate email + newsletter id and record it in the UNIQUE row. The next time we do a "mysql_affected_rows" check to see if our INSERT was successful, we send the mail, else, there is already a duplicate and no need to send it.

  So now it's 2011, and as I carry on coding on our active projects it's time to update some copyright notices. eg. Copyright Widgets Ltd 2010 to Copyright Widgets Ltd 2010, 2011 My question is when do you update the copyright notices? Do you change the notice in the head of a file the first time you work on that file? Since a module is one piece of code consisting of many files that work together, do you update all notices in that module when you change a single file in that module? Since a program is one piece of code (maybe consisting of many modules), do you update all notices in that program when you change a single file in that program? Or do you just go through and change en-mass over your morning coffee on the grounds your about to start programming and updateing things?

• New blog post shows immediately in google search results where as other HTML content takes time, why?

  I have a blog which has been active for 3 years. Recently I posted an article and it immediately appeared in google search. Maybe 5 to 10 minutes. A point to note is I was logged into my google account. Maybe google checked my post's when I searched since I am logged in? Yet I logged out and used another browser and searched again with that specific text and it appeared in google search result. How did this happen? However, if I make an article in static HTML and publish, it takes time. (I assume this is the case but I haven't tested much). Yet tested a few cases after updating it in my sitemap xml. How does google search work for a blog and other content?

• Broadcom 4365 wireless driver with 3.4 / 3.5 kernel

  I used this package to install the driver on 3.2 Kernel and it was working perfectly. Unfortunately the system used to freeze randomly with 3.2 kernel so I installed 3.4 kernel, now there is no freezing, the only problem is that my wifi card is not working, I tried to re-install the package, but didn't work. I can see the driver in the "additional drivers" and it say that it is active, but when I execute iwconfig it doesn't show up. I've even tried ndiswraper and that didn't work either. my lspci: 01:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation Device 4365 (rev 01)

• USB Audio Device Loopback Through Speakers

  I have a USB turntable which when plugged in to my ubuntu 10.10 machine appears in the audio settings as an input device (USB PnP Audio Device Analog Stereo) like a microphone. What I'd like to be able to do it to have the sound for that audio device played back through the audio output (speaker or whatever). I'm not too worried if there's a slight delay between the audio coming in and it being played out through the speakers. As far as I'm aware this is refereed to as software loopback. I can achieve exactly what I want if I open Audacity, enable software loopback and press record. Obvious this isn't ideal as I don't really want it recording what I'm playing all the time. I know this is possible because of the Audacity example however I'd like to know if there's a way to do it without it recording. I've search around for a while for a piece of software that does this, however I couldn't get anything even close. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Assign keys to commands in Terminal?

  Is there a solution to assign special key combinations to words in terminal use. For example the less command is very usefull and i use i a lot to pipe the output of another process through it. The idea would be to set up special key combinations that are only active in terminal use assigned to write different commands? So pressing CTRL + l in terminal window could write | less or CTRL + G could stand for | grep Note: i just mean adding the letters to commandline not execute the finally. A similar way what's tabcompletion but more specific.

• How to negate current window in gnome shell?

  I dislike that most websites use a black font on white background for their sites, as it gets too tiresome for me to read. Back in the days of 11.04, using Gnome2 with compiz, there actually was a Negative feature that could negate the content of any window, making the background black and the font white. Much easier on the eyes for me. Yet since 11.10, using gnome shell with mutter, I have no idea if there is something alike out there. Hence my question: How do I negate the currently active window in gnome shell? I am not interested in alternative methods, e.g. user styles. I am aware of their existence but I find it much easier to just invert the screen by the hit of a key shortcut. I also want the solution to be application-agnostic. As I also from time to time would want to invert libre-office or some other glaringly white application.

I learned to program in Java, but I have worked in nothing but Objective-C for years now. How are the design patterns different between Android and iOS? If you've made the transition yourself, what parts of Android confused you or took you longer to learn than it should have? Is Eclipse the best OS X IDE for Android? For the record, my app is very strongly tied to UIKit and Foundation, so the word "porting" may be a misnomer; I'll actually be completely rewriting it for Android. No code reuse. Also, I'm doing this to learn Android, so I'd rather fail at the port and learn Android than take a shortcut.

• Using macro keys with razer blackwidow ultimate 2013

  I recently bought a Razer blackwidow ultimate 2013 keyboard. The keyboad contains 5 macro keys and according to the manual, they can be quickly set using the key combination fn+f9. However, this doesn't work; it won't record any macros. All the other function buttons on the keyboard work fine (e.g. volume up, volume down, stand-by) Does anyone know how I can enable those keys? Maybe an extra package. I am using 64 bit ubuntu 12.04 Thanks in advance :)

• Why Is Another Domain Resolving To My IP Address?

  I'm not really sure if this is something that I should worry about... I'm currently renting a dedicated server which is hosting a website I've created. The domain of the website was registered with GoDaddy. After submitting a sitemap to Google several months ago, I've noticed that another domain name is resolving to my IP address. This means that every page on my website is actually accessible from another domain. As far as I can tell, the other domain name is meaningless to me, so I'm not sure if this is something I should worry about or not. Is this a residual DNS record from another site that is probably no longer in use? Is it important from the standpoint of either security or SEO? My website is a .com which will later serve e-commerce purposes. The other domain has a top-level domain of st. It's the first one of those that I've encountered. Many thanks in advance!

  Trying to figure out the best way for openstack and MASS networks to co-exist. Assuming MAAS used 10.0.0.0/24 for provisioning of various openstack nodes, once openstack, with quantum, is deployed should 10.0.0.0 be used as management network, external network, both or discarded? Reason for the question being that I ran a deployment where openstack used 10.0.0.0 as its management network, MAAS dhcp and dns were active; however, I could only access VMs through namespace and was not able to utilize MAAS's dhcp to assign floating IP. (VMs network was through an internal bridge 10.10.10.10, and external bridge was using the same interface as MAAS.) Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

  I would like to add sound effects to a basic 2D game. For example, a stone sphere is rolling on wood surface. Let's say I have a 2 second audio recording of this. How could I use the sample to add sound for an arbitrary duration ? So far I have two solutions in mind: a/ record the sound for an amount of time that is greater than the maximum expected duration, and play only a part of it; b/ extract a small portion of the sample and play it in a loop for the duration of the move; however I'm not sure if it makes sense with an audio wave.

I'm first class with distinction in graduation and in post graduation is first class.Companies are coming for campus recruitment.I have very less companies like 4 or 5 who don't impose any criteria. there is a company who work on PHP and i have cleared its aptitude test and technical only HR remaining. I'm actually interested in Java and have knowledge about it but company work on PHP.I was fretting about If i work on PHP for 6 or 1 year can I change later to Java ? because i will also have experience of 6 or 12 months ? Will be considered an experienced employee if I apply for java developer later ? Will manager think that I worked in PHP and not allowed for Java ? • Network does not connect at boot

  I am on Ubuntu 12.04, fresh install. When I boot a machine, the boot screen says Connecting to network, later it is changed to something like Did not connect, trying for another 60s. However, the network does not connect at the boot. But I can then log in without a network connection, and if I start a network manager service manually from the terminal (sudo service network-manager start), the network is connected without any problems. Please, does anybody know where the problem could be? I don't want to wait more than two minutes every computer restart :-). I am new to Ubuntu (and also to upstart) so I am a bit lost. There is no /var/log/messages, in dmesg I found this record, though it may not be related: init: network-interface (eth1) pre-start process (492) terminated with status 1 init: network-interface (eth1) post-stop process (548) terminated with status 1 Thanks Daniel
