  • MySQL app with Cassandra in mind

    I am planning to make a web app which will eventually use Cassandra. But now that I don't have it and don't have server(s) to run it from, I'd like to start by using MySQL. The question is, is it possible to structure data and queries in such a way that it would be fairly easy to later port it to Cassandra? Main idea, I guess, would be writing MySQL queries that would be possible to change to same Cassandra queries. Maybe you have a better suggestion?

Is it possible to make grails output its compilation errors in this format? Alternatively, is there an emacs variable that can be customized to handle error messages in the format that grails uses?

If that's not possible, then I'm ok with these compromises: Only check the lowercase version Only check the first path portion For example http://example.com/CoOl/PaTH/CaMELcaSE should redirect to http://example.com/cool/path/camelCase (assuming the latter exists). but of course a full solution is much more useful to me and others

For instance, I have a tree like this: res |-images | |-fg.png | +-bg.png +-sounds +-music.mp3 And I would like a result like this: data |-fg.png |-bg.png +-music.mp3 The way things are named, filename conflicts are not an issue.     I have a requirement that regardless of the start and dates that I need to loop through that timespan and calculate figures at the month level. I cannot seem to figure it out, and maybe it is not possible, but I would like to do something like: FOREACH Month As TimeSpan in ContractRange.Months Do Calculations (Month.Start, Month.End) NEXT Is this possible or do I need to calculate the number of months, and just iterate through the amount of months and calculate the start/end of that month based on my index?

    Since windows now accept the forslash "/" as a path separator in addition to its default backslash path separator, so that both c:\windows and c:/windows are valid paths (though the later is invalid in cygwin since backslash is escape char) Is there any chance we could set the forslash as the default path separator on windows (GUI), so that the address bar in windows will automatically use it? I heard its possible in a powershell session but anyone knows if it is also possible in a CMD session? Thanks M

    Hi, After some serious googleing I found out that the RandomAccessFile-class is not thread-safe. Now I could use one semaphore to lock all reads and writes but I don't think that performs very well. In theory it should be possible to do multiple reads and one write at a time.     I have a searchbox with auto-suggest that pops a div up underneath it with multiple search string suggestions (like google). Is it possible to have drop shadow on the auto-suggest box with CSS or will I need a script of some sort? I tried a background image but the number of suggests can vary from 1 to 10 or 15.
