The application that I am dealing with also allows developers to plugin javascript into various event handlers for client side validation, etc.. What is the best way for me to localize my javascript messages and strings? Ideally, I would like to store the strings in the .resx files to keep them with the rest of the localized resources.   • How much memory does a hashtable use?

    Would a hashtable/hashmap use a lot of memory if it only consists of object references and int's? As for a school project we had to map a database to objects (that's what being done by orm/hibernate nowadays) but eager to find a good way not to store id's in objects in order to save them again we thought of putting all objects we created in a hashmap/hashtable, so we could easily retrieve it's ID. My question is if it would cost me performance using this, in my opinion more elegant way to solve this problem.

    I would like to store album's track names in a single field in a database. The number of tracks are arbitrary for each album. Each album is one record in the table. Each track must be linked to a specific URL which also should be stored in the database somewhere. Is it possible to do this by storing them in a single field, or is a relational table for the track names/urls the only way to go?

    Hello, I am trying to install the PotionStore on my Mac OS X 10.6 server with Ruby on Rails 3 installed. Upon launching the server on port 3000 and pointing safari to this address, I get this: NameError in Store/orderController#index uninitialized constant ActiveRecord::ConnectionAdapters::PostgreSQLAdapter::PGconn What does this mean? I'm not too advanced with Ruby on Rails, so this throws me a bit.

    I'm trying to write a store procedure that can take some input parameters (obviously), run multiple queries against those, taking the output from those and doing calculations, and from those calculations and the original queries, outputting a formatted text string like: Number of Rows for max(Z) matching condition x and y of total rows matching x (x&y/x*100). To explain the max(Z) bit, this will be the username field, it won't matter which actual entry is picked, because the where clause will filter the results by user id, is there a saner way to do this?

The data model is imported into some software from time to time and we don't want it to try to import the meta data files.     I'm conflicted between a "read once, use memory+pointers to files" and a "read when necessary" approach. The latter is of course much easier (no additional classes needed to store the whole dir structure), but IMO it is slower? A little clarification: I'm writing a simple build system, that read a project file, checks if all files are present, and runs some compile steps. The file tree is static, so the first option doesn't need to be very dynamic and only needs to be built once every time the program is run. Thanks

This needs to happen once per minute so I'm going to add a timer for this purpose (probably a DispatcherTimer). My question is, where should the timer go in an M-V-VM architecture?
