• How to intercept deallocate callbacks of Core Foundation objects in Objective-C.

  I'm writing an Eiffel wrapper for AppKit and Foundation and I need to hijack all -dealloc methods. Thanks to the dynamic nature of Objective-C it is pretty easy to do that. But the problem is it only works with some of the Foundation or AppKit objects. There are certain objects (e.g. NSString, NSArray, NSDate, ...) that are actually CF objects so the dealloc method doesn't get called. Instead the deallocate callbacks of the allocator that allocated the CF object is called. Is there a way to intercept that?

Something like this - */15 * * * * /usr/bin/php /a/b/c.php parameter1 parameter2 parameter3 parameter4 Now i tried working this up but my file is not executing. What im concerned about is that how will my php file will fetch these parameters ?? And how will i write this command when there is only 2 parameters to be passes parameter1 and parameter4??? and how will my cron and php will recognoze that which parameter is for which data and all?? please advice!!

• Dreamweaver recordset filter - Display all records as default

  I am trying to create a simple search form to filter the results in the dynamic table. The search form is on the same pages as the results and posts to itself. I get the search string from the post variable. It is working, but I can't figure out how to set the default value to display all results. Dreamweaver automatically sets the default value to -1, and therefore no results are displayed on the initial load. How do I change this to display ALL records as default and the filter only if there is search string defined.

• How to pass data to a C++0x lambda function that will run in a different thread?

  In our company we've written a library function to call a function asynchronously in a separate thread. It works using a combination of inheritance and template magic. The client code looks as follows: DemoThread thread; std::string stringToPassByValue = "The string to pass by value"; AsyncCall(thread, &DemoThread::SomeFunction, stringToPassByValue); Since the introduction of lambda functions I'd like to use it in combination with lambda functions. I'd like to write the following client code: DemoThread thread; std::string stringToPassByValue = "The string to pass by value"; AsyncCall(thread, [=]() { const std::string someCopy = stringToPassByValue; }); Now, with the Visual C++ 2010 this code doesn't work. What happens is that the stringToPassByValue is not copied. Instead the "capture by value" feature passes the data by reference. The result is that if the function is executed after stringToPassByValue has gone out of scope, the application crashes as its destructor is called already. So I wonder: is it possible to pass data to a lambda function as a copy? Note: One possible solution would be to modify our framework to pass the data in the lambda parameter declaration list, as follows: DemoThread thread; std::string stringToPassByValue = "The string to pass by value"; AsyncCall(thread, [=](const std::string stringPassedByValue) { const std::string someCopy = stringPassedByValue; } , stringToPassByValue); However, this solution is so verbose that our original function pointer solution is both shorter and easier to read. Update: The full implementation of AsyncCall is too big to post here. In short, what happens is that the AsyncCall template function instantiates a template class holding the lambda function. This class is derived from a base class that contains a virtual Execute() function, and upon an AsyncCall() call, the function call class is put on a call queue. A different thread then executes the queued calls by calling the virtual Execute() function, which is polymorphically dispatched to the template class which then executes the lambda function.

  I'm using the qTip jQuery plugin to create dynamic tool tips. The tooltip sends an id to a cfc which runs a query and returns data in JSON format. • iPhone tableview: titleForHeaderInSection derived from array

  I have a tableview that is populated by an array. Currently the tableview has no grouping. What I would like to do is check a value of each array object, such as State, and group all the CA items together, all the OR items together, etc. Then, assign those groups a title. The array is dynamic, and will grow and get new values in the future, so I can't hardcode titles, I would like these to somehow come from my initial array. Currently I am using the following, but it does not take into account sorting of the array, or if I removed all of the items in the array that have to do with California. - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section == 0) { return @"California"; } else if (section == 1) { return @"Washington"; } else { return @"Utah"; } }//end tableView So, I am confusing myself as to how this would be possible. • Can I write a .NETCF Partial Class to extend System.Windows.Forms.UserControl?

  Okay... I'm writing a .NET CF (VBNET 2008 3.5 SP1) application, which has one master form, and it dynamically loads specific UserControls based on menu click, in a sort of framework idea. There are certain methods and properties these controls all need to work within the app. Right now I am doing this as an Interface, but this is aggravating as all get up, because some of the methods are optional, and yet I MUST implement them by the nature of interfaces. I would prefer to use inheritance, so that I can have certain code be inherited with overridability, but if I write a class which inherits System.Windows.Forms.UserControl and then inherit my control from that, it squiggles, and tells me that UserControls MUST inherit directly from System.Windows.Forms.UserControl. (Talk about a design flaw!) So next I thought, well, let me use a partial class to extend System.Windows.Forms.UserControl, but when I do that, even though it all seems to compile fine, none of my new properties/methods show up on my controls. Is there any way I can use partial classes to 'extend' System.Windows.Forms.UserControl? For example, can anyone give me a code sample of a partial class which simply adds a MyCount As Integer readonly property to the System.Windows.Forms.UserControl class? If I can just see how to get this going, I can take it from there and add the rest of my functionality. Thanks in advance! I've been searching google, but can't find anything that seems to work for UserControl extension on .NET CF. And the Interface method is driving me crazy as even a small change means updating ALL the controls whether they need to 'override' the method or not.

  I need to write a custom setter method for a field (we'll call it foo) in my subclass of NSManagedObject. foo is defined in the data model and Xcode has autogenerated @property and @dynamic fields in the .h and .m files respectively. If I write my setter like this: - (void)setFoo: (NSObject *)inFoo { [super setFoo: inFoo]; [self updateStuff]; } then I get a compiler warning on the call to super. Alternatively, if I do this: - (void)setFoo: (NSObject *)inFoo { [super setValue: inFoo forKey: inFoo]; [self updateStuff]; } then I end up in an infinite loop. So what's the correct approach to write a custom setter for a subclass of NSManagedObject?

  While browsing with Chrome, I noticed that it responds extremely fast (in comparison with IE and Firefox on my laptop) in terms of rendering pages, including JavaScript heavy sites like gmail. This is what googlebook on Chrome has to say tabs are hosted in process rather than thread. compile javascript using V8 engine as opposed to interpreting. Introduce new virtual machine to support javascript heavy apps introduce "hidden class transitions" and apply dynamic optimization to speed up things. Replace inefficient "Conservative garbage colllection" scheme with more precise garbage collection scheme. Introduce their own task scheduler and memory manager to manage the browser environment. All this sounds so familiar, and Microsoft has been doing such things for long time.. Windows os, C++, C# etc compilers, CLR, and so on. So why isn't Microsoft or any other browser vendor taking Chrome's approach? Is there a flaw in Chrome's approach? If not, is the rest of browser vendor community caught unaware with Google's approach?

  There are many open-source libraries that can be compiled with Visual Studio. I'm porting a program from Linux to Windows, but it depends on a number of libraries. I don't know what the best practices regarding libraries are on Windows. On Linux, these libraries are typically part of the distribution. To use sqlite on Debian, for example, you need only to install libsqlite3-dev and the include files and libraries (both static and dynamic) are automatically installed and available to your program. If you need a different version than your distribution supplies, you can compile it in your home directory, install it to ~/include and ~/lib, and set the appropriate environment variables so that your compiler includes those directories in its search path. What is the best way to use libraries that are distributed as source on Windows? If I link dynamically rather than statically, is there an easy way to copy required DLLs into the output directory to ease redistribution (assuming license requirements are met)?

• Wordpress page linking

  I am trying to implement WordPress into quite a large site with a complex page structure and struggling to get normal pages to work (not created through the admin) The pages are created, but when I link to them, nothing happens... The desired url - www.website.com/dir1/dir2/dir3/page.php The actual url- www.website.com/wp-content/themes/themename/dir1/dir2/dir3/page.php The problem with linking to the latter is that it breaks the WordPress functions I don't want to have to give every page a template, then add it through the admin, it is too much work. I only need 2 pages to contain dynamic content. Am I being silly? I am really confused.

• JPA: persisting object, parent is ok but child not updated

  Hello, I have my domain object, Client, I've got a form on my JSP that is pre-populated with its data, I can take in amended values, and persist the object. Client has an abstract entity called MarketResearch, which is then extended by one of three more concrete sub-classes. I have a form to pre-populate some MarketResearch data, but when I make changes and try to persist the Client, it doesn't get saved, can someone give me some pointers on where I've gone wrong? My 3 domain classes are as follows (removed accessors etc) public class Client extends NamedEntity { @OneToOne @JoinColumn(name = "MARKET_RESEARCH_ID") private MarketResearch marketResearch; ... } @Inheritance(strategy = InheritanceType.JOINED) public abstract class MarketResearch extends AbstractEntity { ... } @Entity(name="MARKETRESEARCHLG") public class MarketResearchLocalGovernment extends MarketResearch { @Column(name = "CURRENT_HR_SYSTEM") private String currentHRSystem; ... } This is how I'm persisting public void persistClient(Client client) { if (client.getId() != null) { getJpaTemplate().merge(client); getJpaTemplate().flush(); } else { getJpaTemplate().persist(client); } } To summarize, if I change something on the parent object, it persists, but if I change something on the child object it doesn't. • Developing a very nonstandard Drupal form

  I'm creating a site for a local retail shop using Drupal. Everything's been going very smoothly up until this current bit. It's a comic shop, and I want to make a place where people can manage their own subscriptions. Since the number of different titles a customer subscribes to can vary pretty widely, I want a way to make a completely dynamic form, with people able to add as many new lines as they need and I'm really struggling with Drupal's documentation.   I have a prickly design issue regarding the choice of database technologies to use for a group of new applications. The final suite of applications would have the following database requirements... Central databases (more than one database) using mysql (myst be mysql due to justhost.com). An application to be written which accesses the multiple mysql databases on the web host. This application will also write to local serverless database (sqlite/firebird/vistadb/whatever). Different flavors of this application will be created for windows (.NET), windows mobile, android if possible, iphone if possible. So, the design task is to minimise the quantity of code to achieve this. This is going to be tricky since the languages used are already c# / java (android) and objc (iphone). Not too worried about that, but can the work required to implement the various database access layers be minimised? The serverless database will hold similar data to the mysql server, so some kind of inheritance in the DAL would be useful. Looking at hibernate/nhibernate and there is linq to whatever. So many choices!

  We are working on an online mobile video app. The videos we want to play on mobile phones are being generated by a server, as there can be dynamic content in the server (based on user input). Now for iPhone we would like to play the video in the best possible resolution based on the connection speed at the time of downloading the movie. This can be done using reference movies. However, because our videos are being generated on the fly, we need to generate this reference movie on the fly as well. Is there a way to generate reference movies on the fly on a Linux server using some command line tool, PHP or Java? Or on a DOS server maybe? Any help will be much appreciated.

Attempting to simply replace the quoted someurl with item.link gives you this error: Invalid identifier item.link. me is the only supported identifier in this context How can I pass this value in?

ArrayList<Class> typeList; and I have some input values; ArrayList<Object> values; How to cast some value to some type if I know which type from the typeList is the values; typeList.get(i).cast(values.get(i)); <- this is not working??? Actualy I generate dynamic form in runtime. With Java reflection I get parameterTypes from methods from some class, I generate form with input fields and then i want to cast the text from the input fields to specific types from the paramterTypes that I got with Java reflection from some class.
