  • Can I import an outline into powerpoint

    - by justintime
I would like to create a bullet point powerpoint in a text file (or Word document) and then import it into Powerpoint 2007 Slide 1 title - bullet 1 - bullet 2 - subpoint - bullet 3 Slide 2 title - bullet 1 - bullet 2 I find that powerpoint makes one think too much about form to the exclusion of content. Answers of the form Don't use Powerpoint might not go down to well with our corporate presentation style police !

  • How to find out if my IIS is x64 or x86?

    - by PaparazzoKid
As the title reads, I'm about to download and install URL Rewrite Go Live extension on my Windows Server 2008 R2 dedicated server, and I need to find out which version of URL Rewrite I should be downloading, x64 or x86. The information that came with the server when I started to rent it said it was 64-bit but when I look at my C: directory I have two Program Files directories, one titled "Program Files" and the other "Program Files (86)" - so this has confused me somewhat. Can anybody suggest how to find this out?

  • primary master drive fail

    - by Kelly
I purchased a new hard drive for my desktop and when I try to boot up the computer with a Windows disc in the drive, it will go through a bunch of screens and ask me which partition I would like to install windows into, but after it goes through the formatting step and reboots, I get a message saying Primary Master Drive Fails. How do I fix this?

  • How is the Windows 7 activation going to be?

    - by Donny V
I really hated the Windows Vista activation system Microsoft had. I hope that Windows 7 is going to go back to the simple serial key like Windows XP. You couldn't even upgrade hardware without Windows Vista bitching. What is the activation system they're using for Windows 7?

  • Word 2007 Question

    - by Lijo
Hi Team, While preparing a Word 2007 document, I made a mistake. (Not to say I don't have any other copy of the document) While formatting (as a try) I applied the style "Apply Style to Body to match selection". This caused the document to go totally in a wronfg format - having numbers even in tables. Have you ever faced this? Could you please tell how to correct it? Thanks Lijo

  • How do you manage private queue permissions on a windows server 2008 cluster?

    - by David
On windows server 2003 there was an option to allow a resource to interact with the desktop, this allowed you to run computer management mmc snap-in on the virtual name of the cluster, allowing you to manage permissions of the private message queues on the cluster. Windows Server 2008 failover clustering has removed that checkbox, so applications can no longer interact with the desktop. My question is then how does one go about managing private queue permissions on the clustered (the virtual name) server?

    - by Ariel
I'm running a script like below on a SQL Server box and, even though it finishes correctly, then when, on SQL Mgmt UI, I right click on that job's properties, go to Schedules, I cannot see the schedule just added... what am I missing? (I'm using the right job_name param, etc) thanks! • How to (programmatically) embed a text field on my desktop in Mac OS X?

    - by mechko
I am trying to hack together a twitter/fb/chat client which will not take up a separate window. How would I go about embedding a text field on a Mac OS X desktop? That is, I want to be able to type into it, but it needs to sit behind all windows at all times. I know I can use geektool to display text. Is there a similar program or piece of code that would allow me to do what I want?

  • Mouse and Keyboard Stop Working on Startup

    - by BoundforPNG
I have a Dell Optiplex 330 and have recently done a Windows XP repair. After it was finished I was able to use the computer just fine. Now I take it back to it's original location and plug in the OEM mouse and keyboard and they both work until Windows XP loads. As soon as windows loads the lights go out on both the keyboard and mouse.

  • Dead letter bin / black hole email address

    - by skypanther
I'm looking for an email address that can be sent to where the mail will just be deleted without a bounce back. RFC 2606 defines example.com as a fictitious domain for documentation. Is there something similar for email? This will be used in printed documentation, needs to be stable (the domain can't go stale or replaced by an NSFW site), and as generic as possible.

  • High-end CD/DVD burners?

    - by Robert Harvey
Do such things exist? I wouldn't mind paying $100 to $200 for one, but it must: Have a very fast spin-up to ready time (less than one second) Have an even faster dismount time (say, half second) Can go from dead stop to laying down bits in two seconds or less Can be instantly abortable and resettable regardless of current operational state Does anyone know of such an animal?

  • Capturing wirelss traffic (using Wireshark).

    - by Daisetsu
When I run wireshark on a wired network it works fine and reports all of the packets. When I run it on a wireless network though I only see my own traffic. The wireless card I have is supposed to support packet capture and go into premiscous mode, but I don't see any other system traffic. What is wrong?

  • Take VMware VM State Home With Me

    - by Chris
I work in VMs day in and day out, it's wonderful, encapsulating all the stuff I need for development in a contained unit. My question is: I want to be able to take my VM home with me, the problem is the VM is 30GB, and it takes about 30 minutes to copy that much data to my external HDD. Is it possible to somehow save the "state" of the VM, go home, and just resume it like a I would a laptop? Oh... almost forgot, I use VMware Workstation 6.5

  • Cannot find Power Management Tab in XP

    - by Andrew Heath
I have the problem that when I send my computer to sleep it wakes if you bump the table, floor, burp etc. I have read many threads that say go to Device Manager Mouse Properties Power Management Tab and uncheck the box for wake. My problem is I do not have a Power Management Tab! Anyone know how to enable the tab or stop the mouse from waking my machine? And no, turning it upside down doesn't work either!

  • use SVN @ client end and CM synergy @ server side

    - by Ravisha
We are using CM synergy client as version control, but we find it very complicated. We are mostly biased with SVN client tool.Is there a way to configure svn at client end but maintain CM synergy @ server side. This would help us a lot ,bcos merging and conflict resolution is very simple in SVN.I do not know where to go about this solution, any initial help will be very helpful CM synergy www.windriver.com/cgi-bin/partnerships/directory/viewProd.cgi?id=1451 SVN tortoisesvn.tigris.org/

  • Alternative to K9 spam handler?

    - by overtherainbow
I've been using the free K9 spam handler for a couple of years now, but it hasn't been updated since 2004 and has a couple of bugs that bother me: The Find feature stops at the first e-mail found, and doesn't go further I'd like to copy the list of e-mails marked as either real or SPAM, but K9 only copies the first item in the clipboard For those of you who have researched desktop anti-SPAM handlers under Windows, what do you suggest as an alternative, either free or moderately priced?

  • Maddening Linked List problem

    - by Mike
    This has been plaguing me for weeks. It's something really simple, I know it. Every time I print a singly linked list, it prints an address at the end of the list. #include <iostream> using namespace std; struct node { int info; node *link; }; node *before(node *head); node *after(node *head); void middle(node *head, node *ptr); void reversep(node *head, node *ptr); node *head, *ptr, *newnode; int main() { head = NULL; ptr = NULL; newnode = new node; head = newnode; for(int c1=1;c1<11;c1++) { newnode->info = c1; ptr = newnode; newnode = new node; ptr->link = newnode; ptr = ptr->link; } ptr->link=NULL; head = before(head); head = after(head); middle(head, ptr); //reversep(head, ptr); ptr = head; cout<<ptr->info<<endl; while(ptr->link!=NULL) { ptr=ptr->link; cout<<ptr->info<<endl; } system("Pause"); return 0; } node *before(node *head) { node *befnode; befnode = new node; cout<<"What should go before the list?"<<endl; cin>>befnode->info; befnode->link = head; head = befnode; return head; } node *after(node *head) { node *afnode, *ptr2; afnode = new node; ptr2 = head; cout<<"What should go after the list?"<<endl; cin>>afnode->info; ptr2 = afnode; afnode->link=NULL; ptr2 = head; return ptr2; } void middle(node *head, node *ptr) { int c1 = 0, c2 = 0; node *temp, *midnode; ptr = head; while(ptr->link->link!=NULL) { ptr=ptr->link; c1++; } c1/=2; c1-=1; ptr = head; while(c2<c1) { ptr=ptr->link; c2++; } midnode = new node; cout<<"What should go in the middle of the list?"<<endl; cin>>midnode->info; cout<<endl; temp=ptr->link; ptr->link=midnode; midnode->link=temp; } void reversep(node *head, node *ptr) { node *last, *ptr2; ptr=head; ptr2=head; while(ptr->link!=NULL) ptr = ptr->link; last = ptr; cout<<last->info; while(ptr!=head) { while(ptr2->link!=ptr) ptr2=ptr2->link; ptr = ptr2; cout<<ptr->info; } } I'll admit that this is class work, but even the professor can't figure it out, and says that its probably something insignificant that we're overlooking, but I can't put my mind to rest until I find out what it is.
