  I have an application for which I have enabled GC logging. The heap appears to grow then takes a sudden drop, but does not log a Full GC. If there some startup parameter that I can enable that will show me what GC event is reducing the heap size? • jquery ajax call errors in chrome onenter with no responseText

  I've built a login page that uses a .ajax call to a generic c# handler (.ashx) to validate the username and password before allowing the user to log in. If you click on the login link <a href="#" class="ui-state-default ui-corner-all CustomButton" onclick="goLogin();return false"> the .ajax call returns successfully and it logs the user in. I am trying to make it so the user can also just press the "enter" key from the password box: $("#pword").keydown(function(e) { if (e.keyCode == 13) { goLogin(); } }); Using Firefox, both ways work just fine and the user is logged in. With Chrome however, pressing "enter" hits the error function of my .ajax call and will not log the user in. The parameters and responses look identical through Firefox's console, as expected. What would be causing this and/or how can I debug it in Chrome?

  hello, Im following a few tutorials to sort a list, but i can't get the DB to update. The drag drop side of things is working, also, i javascript alert() the serialize list onUpdate and the order is printed out as follows: images_list[]=20&images_list[]=19 etc... • Can I prevent a user from using windows task manager to end a process?

  I have a c# 4.0 application that I hear grumblings and rumors about problems with. Now, this application has a global unhandled exception handler that reports back to me with errors. I also know that it works because SOME people fill it in, and submit it. It seems though; that a large number of people do NOT fill it in, but instead, use the Windows Taskmanager to end the process. Is it possible to prevent a user from using the Windows Taskmanager to end a specific process? My goal would be that if the application crashes, the form that the user is presented with prevents the process from being ended. I'll also accept steps that would prevent the Windows Taskmanager from being launched. I know I have seen some processes come up with an "Access Denied" prompt when I try to kill it in TaskManager, however I suspect that the windows team has made this very difficult, if not impossible to achieve.

  Hello There, I'm trying to figure out where I could drop in some PHP code to notify a CRM we are using (Solve360) that a new order has been placed, and that an event should be created (API) to fulfill the order. Order Product Checkout Complete Checkout & Capture CC Side notify CRM Done Not sure where to start, but I have had to make some small tweaks to fix the Quantum Gateway payment processor to work. In that module it appears that the objects for the order (email, amt, details) were available. However it seems it would be quite 'dirty' to insert more PHP code in there. Ideas? PHP 5.2.x & Magento 1.4.x

  How do you show ajax gif only for a specific request? For example my page is calling a web-service every 30 seconds in a background, and I don't want to show the gif during this callback. On the other hand I want to show the gif, when I'am making manual ajax requests. I am using jQuery. edit: I didn't setup the global handler as shown here http://api.jquery.com/ajaxStart/, just by attaching to the .ajaxStart event. But I don't want to show/hide the gif manually on every request too. I need some generic solution.

• How can I disable the F4 key from showing the items in a ComboBox

  You might not know this, but pressing the F4 key on a ComboBox makes it's drop-down item list appear. I believe this is the default behavior on Windows. Does anyone know how to override this behavior in WPF (C#)? I know that overriding default behavior is generally seen as bad practice, however in this case I have a rugged-device that runs XP Embedded. It has a handful of prominent Function keys (F1-F6) that need to trigger different events. This works fine, however when focused over a ComboBox the events aren't triggered as the ComboBox drops down. I have tried catching the KeyDown event both on the form and on the ComboBox and listening for the F4 key, however it doesn't get this far as the key press must be handled at a lower level. Any ideas? Thanks.

• Multiple windows services in a single project = mystery

  I'm having a bizarre issue that I haven't seen before and I'm thinking it MUST be something simple that I'm not seeing in my code. I have a project with 2 windows services defined. One I've called DataSyncService, the other SubscriptionService. Both are added to the same project installer. Both use a timer control from System.Timers. If I start both services together, they seem to work fine. The timers elapse at the appropriate time and everything looks okay. However, if I start either service individually, leaving the other stopped, everything goes haywire. The timer elapses constantly and on the wrong service. In other words, if I start the DataSyncService, the SubscriptionService timer elapses over and over. ...which is obviously strange. The setup is similar to what I've done in the past so I'm really stumped. I even tried deleting both service and starting over but it doesn't seem to make a difference. At this point, I'm thinking I've made a simple error in the way I'm defining the services and my brain just won't let me see it. It must be creating some sort of threading issue that causes one service to race when the other is stopped. Here the code.... Does anybody know how to handle prompted input from external scripts in Ant?

• Remembering Form information

  Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I feel my situation is a little different... I have a huge form (like 50 questions involving checkboxes, drop downs, text boxes and textareas) When a user submits a form and the validation page throws an error, is there an easy way to keep the info they entered? My intitial form is on form.php and then the form action is form_posted.php, before anything is run on form_posted.php I have my validation code which sends the user back to form.php with an error number (eg. form.php?error=3) if there was a problem with any in particular. This is done with header("form.php?error=3") so on form.php do the posted variables exist? even tho the page wasn't specifically sent with any posted variables. Also if this is the case, is it completely secure to be making the value of a textbox what it was before? like <input type="text" value="php echo $_POSTED["username"] ?>">

  I am thinking of setting up a global, default Exception handler for my (Android) Mobile application(which uses Java syntax) using Thread.setDefaultUncaughtExceptionHandler(...) call. I am thinking of just displaying an Alert Dialog with appropriate message to the user. Are there any gotchas, caveats and rules that one needs to follow when setting DefaultExceptionHandlers? Any best practices like making sure that the process is killed, full stack trace is written to logs etc. ? Links to documentation, tutorials etc. that can throw some light on this are welcome. • trouble setting up TreeViews in pygtk

  I've got some code in a class that extends gtk.TreeView, and this is the init method. I want to create a tree view that has 3 columns. A toggle button, a label, and a drop down box that the user can type stuff into. The code below works, except that the toggle button doesn't react to mouse clicks and the label and the ComboEntry aren't drawn. (So I guess you can say it doesn't work).   In using a jquery callback, I found that 'this' isn't defined anymore. I've found a work around, which is to set 'this' to another variable. For example, like so: function handler(DATA) { myThis = this; $.post( 'file.php', DATA, function() { // THIS where I need access to 'this', but its not available // unless I've used the 'myThis' trick above } ); } It works like this, but I am always looking for 'the right way' or 'the better way' to do things. I see that there are already StackOverflow answers tangentially related to this question but they're mired in complicated examples or involve multiple factors. Given this code: #!/usr/bin/python def test_function(): try: a = str(5) raise b = str(6) except: print b test_function() what is the best way to avoid the inevitable "UnboundLocalError: local variable 'b' referenced before assignment" that I'm going to get in the exception handler? Does python have an elegant way to handle this? If not, what about an inelegant way? In a complicated function I'd prefer to avoid testing the existence of every local variable before I, for example, printed debug information about them.

  Hi all, I've searched the web and I can't seem to find anything that will work for me. I've seen plenty of discussion, and even some fairly extensible open-source tools, for code editors that provide line numbers and syntax highlighting. Here's my dilemma... I'm working on a "digital code review" project in C#.NET that allows users to specify source files, add them to a particular session, and other users can make comments and line references to the files being reviewed. Basic requirements: Must be written in C#.NET I don't need to be able to edit the text in the text box Users need to be able to select a line (or multiple lines), to make line references. It seems to me that I need some fancy implementation of a ListBox control (not a drop-down list) that has some OwnerDraw capabilities to add line numbers and syntax highlighting. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck putting it together myself, and I can't seem to find a control that's already been written or a reference on how I might be able to accomplish this. Any suggestions??

  I create a lot of quick "proof of concept" MVC apps and I actually found the SimpleMembership provider that shipped with the MVC4 templates to be very handy since it gets me up and running with user registration & OAuth in a matter of minutes. But...I've started to use RavenDb (on RavenHQ for a lot for my projects). So, I starting trying to implement my own "custom membership provider" based on the ExtendedMembershipProvider and while doing that I realized that didn't make much sense. I later stumbled upon 2 interesting projects that try to solve this exact problem: WorldDomination.Web.Auth: https://github.com/PureKrome/WorldDomination.Web.Authentication MemFlex: https://github.com/OdeToCode/Memflex Both are pretty interesting recent efforts and was wondering if these are the only ones being built right now. Eventually, these values will be automatically generated based on some kind of outside data source, so they're going to have somewhat arbitrary numeric values associated with them. When I choose one and save the settings for my Web Part, Sharepoint is only saving the values in numeric order; that is, All=0, BOCC=1, Sustainability=3 [...] so my Web Part then thinks the user chose the value with the corresponding number (PR when they chose BOCC, Highlights when they chose Sustainability, etc.) How can I make Sharepoint honor my custom values?

  my route implementation on Global.asax protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.intRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } void intRoutes(RouteCollection Rts) { Rts.MapPageRoute("search", "{language}/{page}", "~/search.aspx"); Rts.MapPageRoute("category", "{language}/{name}/{no}/{categoryname}", "~/category.aspx"); Rts.MapPageRoute("product", "{language}/{name}/{no}/{productname}", "~/product.aspx"); } the problem is; if i use product routing on a hyperlink, like as follows; <asp:HyperLink ID="hyProduct" NavigateUrl='<%#HttpUtility.UrlDecode(((Page)HttpContext.Current.Handler).GetRouteUrl("product", new{ language=getUIFromHelper(),name=getNameFromHelper(),no=Eval("code"),productname=getProductNameFromHelper(Eval("name"))})) %>' runat="server" Text="something" /> everything goes fine, the link is written as expected like /en/products/06.008.001.150.0510/davis-fish-seeker-green but when i click that link the category.aspx page runs insted of product.aspx. am i missing out something ?
