How do I disable transactions in Rails' ActiveRecord? I have a specific situation where I want them to go away I can't seem to find anything useful out there. Is it even possible?
I'm looking for a way to collect the dependencies from Flex ActionScript and MXML files. I was hoping that mxmlc could spit them out (like gcc's -M option), but its option list doesn't seem to have anything relevant. I could write a parser, but would prefer not to reinvent the wheel if it has already been done, particularly given the two very different languages involved. Is there a program available to do this for me?
Hi, I've been struggling with the following rule:
RewriteRule ^subdomains/example.com/(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]
I'm trying to redirect anything that occurs after the folder /subdomains/example.com/ to http://www.example.com/ whilst including any filename or extra folder path information.
E.g:
www.olddomain.com/subdomains/example.com/index.html - www.example.com/index.html
www.olddomain.com/subdomains/example.com/files/ - www.example.com/files/
www.olddomain.com/subdomains/example.com/files/index.html - www.example.com/files/index.html
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Hello,
I'm writing transpose function for 8x16bit vectors with SSE2 intrinsics. Since there are 8 arguments for that function (a matrix of 8x8x16bit size), I can't do anything but pass them by reference. Will that be optimized by the compiler (I mean, will these __m128i objects be passed in registers instead of stack)?
Code snippet:
inline void transpose (__m128i &a0, __m128i &a1, __m128i &a2, __m128i &a3,
__m128i &a4, __m128i &a5, __m128i &a6, __m128i &a7) {
....
}
I am wondering if there are any good reasons to ever store time information in anything other that UTC (GMT)? I believe that this is a solid rule for all software engineering. The conversion to local time is merely a translation that happens at the UI layer for display purposes. I have also seen cases where the translatation is needed in order to implement an algorithm correctly (for handling midnight date changes, etc.).
I'm wondering specifically what experienced programmers thought when they started developing in Python. I'm sure the answer depends on your background, but my own personal answer is the conversion of basically anything in the language to a True/False value in boolean contexts.
Resulting in "oddities" like:
if x:
not meaning the same thing as:
if x == True:
I understand why, but it bugs me, and I certainly had to think about it a bit when I first ran into it.
I have an authority string defined as such:
public final static String AUTHORITY = "dsndata.sds2mobile.jobprovider";
Followed by an edition to the UriMatcher:
uriMatcher.addURI(JobMetaData.AUTHORITY, "/JobNames/*",
JOBNAME_SINGLE_URI);
The uri that gets passed to the switch is:
content://dsndata.sds2mobile.jobprovider/JobNames/test
This falls through the switch and hits the default (which throws an IllegalArgumentException).
Am I missing something? I've searched and can't find anything that would account for the mismatch.
Is there any way to copy a really large file (from one server to another) in Powershell AND display it's progress?
There are solutions out there to use Write-Progress in conjunction with looping to copy many files and display progress. However I can't seem to find anything that would show progress of a single file.
Any thoughts?

My database consists of some entries which are NULL (so they don't affect max, min, etc..). When I pull all of the data from the database, I need to repopulate form fields with the values. Using .val(value) where value = NULL seems to work without any problems, but I'm not sure if this is a valid way to go about this. It doesn't say anything in the jQuery documentation (that I can find) about using NULL as parameters to functions.
Here is my problem: I export a database A_DB using "export" function of Phppgadmin. The dump file A_dump.sql includes both the database structure and data. Then I try to create another blank database B_DB, and import A_dump.sql into it.
Every time I do that, the transaction failed with no error reported:
SQL error:
In statement:
Is there some logs that I can find in phppgadmin that would allow me to investigate this problem? I have tried searching for an hour, but still not find anything.
Hi,
I'm trying to write an MsBuild script to zip some files up. I need to select all of the read-only files recursively from a folder into an ItemGroup to add to the zip.
Is there anything around to do this out of the box, or do I need to write a custom task?
Thanks for you help.
I need to get informed when the user changes the font size in it's browser.
I need it to reposition some elements which have to be relative in one dimension to an anchor inside a text.
So far i haven't found anything and i'm a bit worried that it's not possible. In this case it should be possible to emulate it with a hidden div and some text inside and a script polling for changes of it's width. But i hope someone has a more elegant solution.
APM uses BeginXXX/EndXX pairs and the Event-based Asynchronous Pattern (EAP) uses XXXAsync and XXXCompleted pairs, but I haven't seen anything standard on how to name methods that return a task.
I have been using XXXTask:
Data GetData()
Task<Data> GetDataTask()
but was wondering if a more standard approach has developed
I have a removable device setup so it autoruns when plugged into a Windows machine and pops up a message giving the owner's information, so it can be returned if lost. Is there a way to do this in Linux as well? It doesn't need to be complex, it can be an option in a right-click menu, or a splashscreen, or anything.
Is there anything that stops the DateTime AddDays() method that doesn't run within a while loop. I have this simple bit of code;
DateTime last_day = monthCalendar2.SelectionRange.End;
DateTime first_day = new DateTime(year, month, day);
//Insert dates into vector
while (first_day != last_day)
{
dates.Add(first_day);
first_day.AddDays(1);
}
I step through the program and first_day never changes, anyone know why?!
Does anybody know what happened to Microsofts promise to support Openid? I browsed the web and I am not able to find anything but: Service will be available 2009. But it is 2010 now.
Thanks for useful links.
I have a song and its lyrics. The song can be played using MusicPlayer class. But how do I show the lyrics of the song and also highlight them in sync with the audio. Words appear and fade with the playback.
Does Android have anything in-built for such a thing?
How can this be achieved?
Thanks.
I just need a plain list of conflicted files.
Is there anything simpler than:
git ls-files -u | cut -f 2 | sort | uniq
or
git ls-files -u | awk '{print $4}' | sort | uniq
?
Most Delphi developers have a list of Delphi components they wouldn't live without. Not including anything that ships with Delphi (standard VCL or included third-party software like Rave or Indy), what are the components you can't live without, be they commercial or open-source?
One component or product name per answer, please. Please do not post duplicates.
First: No, none of the content should be loaded from the web. All content parts are shipped with the main bundle.
I have n images and mass of text (including lists). Instead of building all view parts programmatically in objective-c if was thinking of using an UIWebView and build "only" the HTML dynamically.
Does anything speaks against it?
How does UIWebView work with local content?
Links and resources welcome.
Thanks
I've got a document containing empty lines (\n\n). They can be removed with sed:
echo $'a\n\nb'|sed -e '/^$/d'
But how do I do that with an ordinary regular expression in perl? Anything like the following just shows no result at all.
echo $'a\n\nb'|perl -p -e 's/\n\n/\n/s'
How print format string passed as argument ?
example.cpp:
#include <iostream>
int main(int ac, char* av[])
{
printf(av[1],"anything");
return 0;
}
try:
example.exe "print this\non newline"
output is:
print this\non newline
instead I want:
print this
on newline
These questions are a kind of game, and I did not find the solution for them.
It is possible to write ::: in C++ without using quotes or anything like this and the compiler will accept it (macros are prohibited too).
And the same is true for C# too, but in C#, you have to write ???.
I think C++ will use the :: scope operator and C# will use ? : , but I do not know the answers to them.
Any idea?
