  • C++ Basic Class Layout

    - by Spencer
    Learning C++ and see the class laid out like this: class CRectangle { int x, y; public: void set_values (int,int); int area () {return (x*y);} }; void CRectangle::set_values (int a, int b) { x = a; y = b; } I know Java and methods(functions) in Java are written within the class. The class looks like a Java interface. I know I can write the class like this: class CRectangle { int x, y; public: void set_values (int a, int b) { x = a; y = b; }; int area () {return (x*y);} }; But is there a difference or standard?

  • Are there any good materials or examples on creating a custom Designer in the Delphi IDE

    - by Mark Elder
    I am working on creating a custom form designer in the Delphi IDE. I'm trying to use the RegisterCustomModule, TBaseCustomModule, and ICustomModule functions, classes, and interfaces. My first question on this pointed me to the Delphi Developer's Handbook and the idea that I could even create a custom form designer. However, that book seems to be all Delphi 3 information and things have really changed since then. I'm not finding any material in the Delphi Help file, and searches have not returned very much. I did find the Accidental Programmer's page on the Open Tools, but that looks like it was last up dated in 1998? It does at least have the correct unit names and uses the new interfaces. I'm willing to track down and buy an older book if that is the best reference.

  • Micro Controller Serial Data identification or classification

    - by Posiedon
    I have a x51 family micro controller (P89V51RD2). I'm going to send some data from computer using serial port. The data i'll be sending are Character 'S' Character 'R' and a 2 digit integer. Upon receiving the data, I will be calling separate functions. I used if(chr=='S') and elseif(chr=='R')for character data. The main problem lies with identifying the 2 digit number sent. Any other data other than the above three mentioned will be discarded. Any ideas for identifying two digit integer ??

  • Wordpress parses wp_posts.post_content before rendering?

    - by John
    I noticed that when I call the the_post() or the_content() function from my wordpress template, it automatically parses the database data to replace new lines with <br/>, wraps the text with <p> tags etc...There's probably some kind of "format" function within the_post() or the_content(). I wrote a query to directly get posts from the wp_posts. I then print it out like <?php $results = $wp->get_results($sql) foreach($results as $row) echo $row->post_content; ?> Clearly, this data is not parsed by wordpress' "format" function. What is the proper way to output this content such that it undergoes the same "formatting" functions as the_post() or the_content()?

  • What is best way to measure the time cycles for a C# function ?

    - by Duaa
    Hi all: Really, I'm looking for a good function that measure the time cycles accurately for a given C# function under Windows operating system. I tried these functions, but they both do not get accurate measure: DateTime StartTime = DateTime.Now; TimeSpan ts = DateTime.Now.Subtract(StartTime); Stopwatch stopWatch = new Stopwatch(); stopWatch.Start(); stopWatch.Stop(); TimeSpan ts = stopWatch.Elapsed; Really, each time I call them, they give me different time for the same function Please, if anyone know better way to measure time consuming accurately, please help me and thanks alot alot

  • Convert bit vector (array of booleans) to an integer, and integer to bit vector, in Java.

    - by dreeves
    What's the best way to unstub the following functions? // Convert a bit-vector to an integer. int bitvec2int(boolean[] b) { [CODE HERE] } // Convert an integer x to an n-element bit-vector. boolean[] int2bitvec(int x, int n) { [CODE HERE] } Or is there a better way to do that sort of thing than passing boolean arrays around? This comes up in an Android app where we need an array of 20 booleans to persist and the easiest way to do that is to write an integer or string to the key-value store. I'll post the way we (Bee and I) wrote the above as an answer. Thanks!

  • MSV1_0 Subauthentication Package Registration

    - by BigShot
    Hi; I'm trying to register a simple MSV1_0 subauthentication package for MS Windows Server 2003. I created a dll which implements required functions described in MSDN. I copied my dll to system32 folder. After that, I created a registry key Auth255 (I also tried Auth128) with a REG_SZ value ,which specifies my dll name, to this location; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0. I expect that it will create a test.txt file for debugging puposes when the dll is called, but it doesn't create the file. How can I make this work? • ORA-00937 error during select subquery

    - by RedRaven
    I am attempting to write a query that returns the the number of employees, the average salary, and the number of employees paid below the average. The query I have so far is: select trunc(avg(salary)) "Average Pay", count(salary) "Total Employees", ( select count(salary) from employees where salary < (select avg(salary) from employees) ) UnderPaid from employees; But when I run this I get the ora-00937 error in the subquery. I had thought that maybe the "count" function is what is causing the issue, but even running a simpler sub query such as: select trunc(avg(salary)) "Average Pay", count(salary) "Total Employees", ( select avg(salary) from employees ) UnderPaid from employees; still returns the same error. As both AVG and COUNT seem to be aggregate functions, I'm not sure why I'm getting the error? Thanks

  • Assign grid.arrange to object

    - by Tyler Rinker
    I want to arrange plots with grid.arrange to make more complex coplots and then use grid.arrange to combine these complex coplots. I am using the following solution (http://stackoverflow.com/a/13295880/1000343) in this task to arrange mutliple plots and ensure they have equal widths. Here is a demo of the code: library(ggplot2); library(gridExtra) gA <- ggplotGrob(A) gB <- ggplotGrob(B) maxWidth = grid::unit.pmax(gA$widths[2:5], gB$widths[2:5]) gA$widths[2:5] <- as.list(maxWidth) gB$widths[2:5] <- as.list(maxWidth) x <- grid.arrange(gA, gB, ncol=1) y <- grid.arrange(gA, gB, ncol=1) grid.arrange(x, y, ncol=2) To be clear in my case x and y are slightly different plots with different values. I know grid.arrange isn't returning the plot as other grid based functions.

  • Java combine parents of two large inheritance chains

    - by Soylent Green
    I have two parent classes in a huge project, let's say ClassA and ClassB. Each class has many subclasses, which in turn have many subclasses, which in turn have many subclasses, etc. My task is to "marry" these two "families" so that both inherit from a SINGLE parent. I need to essentially make ClassA and ClassB one class (parent) to both of their combined subclasses (children). ClassA and ClassB both currently implement Serializable. I am currently trying to make both inheritance chains inherit from ClassA, and then copy all functions and data members from ClassB into ClassA. This is tedious, and I think a terrible solution. What would be the CORRECT way to solve this problem?

  • Is there any declare for toggle() that if its open do this, closed to that?

    - by Dejan.S
    Im doing some jquery stuff with toggle(), I'm doing different actions depending on if the current div is closing or showing, i know i can easy check if a div hasClass() or is(':visible') for what i want to do, but I'm thinking maybe there is somehow that i can reduce the amount of code or just do it more efficient? like declare the toggle() with two functions that this is for when its showing and this is for when its closing, is this possible? hope you get what i mean? like this, or check a jsfiddle $('#click_me').on('click', function() { $('#contain').toogle('blind', 300, function (){ alert('open'); }, function (){ alert('close'); }); });

  • XCode iPhone OS Deployment Target Tool

    - by Trah Divad
    Problem I'm currently stuck trying to figure out what "iPhone OS Deployment Target" setting to use. I do not want to write conditional code right now, so I'd like the lowest version that runs my application fine. At first I thought it would be 2.0 as I wasn't using any 3.0 features, but then i realized that AVAudioRecorder is a 3.0 API. I don't want to be manually checking EVERY function I use in the documentation. Question Is there a tool that will check the OS availability of each functions you call in your code to figure out what the Deployment Target should be? That tool could be a good old compiler, but the latest version of the iPhone SDK does not come with the PRE-3.0 SDKs.

  • How to use YT thumb in plugin

    - by Frank Morrison
    I'm using two plugins on my wordpress site: Auto post youtube Pulls a youtube video then drafts it for me. I use this on my index page beside the post code and the thumbnail appears great: <?php tern_wp_youtube_image(); ?> Top Ten Which I use to display the most viewed posts on a page. Not looking great at the moment, but will fix styling later. This is the code to display popular posts: <?php if(function_exists('tptn_show_pop_posts')) tptn_show_pop_posts(); ?> Is it possible for me to use the youtube image in the popular post function? Or is it because they are seperate they cannot work together without a lot of code? Thanks in advance! Some links incase anybody wants to check them out http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/top-10/ http://www.ternstyle.us/products/plugins/wordpress/wordpress-automatic-youtube-video-posts/wordpress-automatic-youtube-video-posts-functions

  • std::out_of_range error?

    - by vette982
    I'm dealing with a file with a linked list of lines with each node looking like this: struct TextLine{ //The actual text string text; //The line number of the document int line_num; //A pointer to the next line TextLine * next; }; and I'm writing a function that adds spaces at the beginning of the lines found in the variable text, by calling functions like linelist_ptr->text.insert(0,1,'\t'); The program compiles, but when I run it I get this error: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range' what(): basic_string::at Aborted Any ideas?

  • Creating a Drop-Down Menu with Javascript

    - by iceteea
    Question about logics here: What's the most elegant way to make the menu appear/disappear onmouseover/onmouseout? See the following JsBin: http://jsbin.com/owayeb/edit#source The Menu is hidden by default. If the user moves his cursor above the Link the showme() function gets called. When the user moves his cursor away the hideme() functions gets called. How would I get the Menu to persist while the user moves his mouse away from the Link to above the Menu? Or is this all the wrong school of thought?

  • In SQL how do I get the maximum value for an integer?

    - by CoffeeMonster
    Hi, I am trying to find out the maximum value for an integer (signed or unsigned) from a MySQL database. Is there a way to pull back this information from the database itself? Are there any built-in constants or functions I can use (either standard SQL or MySQL specific). At http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/numeric-types.html it lists the values - but is there a way for the database to tell me. The following gives me the MAX_BIGINT - what I'd like is the MAX_INT. SELECT CAST( 99999999999999999999999 AS SIGNED ) as max_int; # max_int | 9223372036854775807 Thanks in advance,

  • JavaScript pack("d") - binary strings

    - by Tim Whitlock
    I'm trying to replicate the Perl and PHP style pack and unpack functions in JavaScript. Unsigned integers were easy enough, so my pack('n') and pack('N') are ok. But my lack of a computer science background is a hurdle now and I don't know where to start with pack('d') for packing JavaScript's standard floating point. Is there a JavaScript library for this out there? If not, is there a good resource where I can learn how to do this? I am fine with bitwise and binary level operations in JS, I just don't know where to start with the logic. Thanks.

  • using ajax url to call function

    - by Steven Vanerp
    Hopefully I can ask this correctly cuz I know what I want it to do but can't seem to find any answers from searching. I have a func.php page where I have all my functions and I want ajax to use one function from that page. func.php function toptable() { echo"something happens in here"; } index.php <?php include 'func.php'; ?> <script type="text/javascript"> function check_username() { uname=document.getElementById("username").value; var params = "user_id="+uname; var url = "topoftable()"; $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: url, dataType: 'html', data: params, beforeSend: function() { document.getElementById("right").innerHTML= 'checking' ; }, complete: function() { }, success: function(html) { document.getElementById("right").innerHTML= html ; } }); } </script> Make sense?

  • Possible to convert list of #defines into strings (C++)

    - by brandonC
    Suppose I have a list of #defines in a header file for an external library. These #defines represent error codes returned from functions. I want to write a conversion function that can take as an input an error code and return as an output a string literal representing the actual #define name. As an example, if I have #define NO_ERROR 0 #define ONE_KIND_OF_ERROR 1 #define ANOTHER_KIND_OF_ERROR 2 I would like a function to be able to called like int errorCode = doSomeLibraryFunction(); if (errorCode) writeToLog(convertToString(errorCode)); And have convertToString() be able to auto-convert that error code without being a giant switch-case looking like const char* convertToString(int errorCode) { switch (errorCode) { case NO_ERROR: return "NO_ERROR"; case ONE_KIND_OF_ERROR: return "ONE_KIND_OF_ERROR"; ... ... ... I have a feeling that if this is possible, it would be possible using templates and metaprogramming, but that would only work the error codes were actually a type and not a bunch of processor macros. Thanks

  • RBF neural networks

    - by Infinity
    Hello guys! I would like to apply RBF neural networks to teach my system. I have a system with an input: | 1 2 3 4 5 6 ... 32 | 33 | | 1000 0001 0010 0100 1000 1000 ... 0100 | 0 0 1 | You have to read this without the "|" character. I just wanted you to see that the last three elements in the input are staying together. The result have to be a number between 1-32, which has the value "1000" in the input. In my training set I will always have a result for an array of this kind. What kind of functions can I use for the teaching algorithm? Can you point me please to the right way? If you can't understand my description please don't hesitate to ask about it. Thank you guys for your help!

  • ok.. what's with this 'var' thing in C#?? [closed]

    - by KevinDeus
    Possible Duplicate: Use of var keyword in C# I have ReSharper, which is a pretty good tool to remind me of some good programming practices.. for example it always recommends that I use the most narrowed convention I can use when passing variables to functions (such as recommending IEnumerable instead of List when I fail to use any of List's specific function. Awesome. However, one of its new behaviors (for C# 4.0) is to remind me at every opportunity to use 'var' when declaring variables. Now I know that there are some valid uses of 'var', but do I really want to use it all the time? I'm sure that ReSharper has a reason for this, but I can't figure it out.. for me it makes the code less readable..

  • Porting Windows C++ to Standard (Linux) C++ - WSAGetLastError()

    - by Donal Rafferty
    I am currently porting some Windows mobile C++ code to standard C++. So I am trying to find alternatives for windows specific functions. I have had very little luck in finding a standard C++ function that can help me replace the WSAGetLastError() windows specific function. WSAGetLastError() returns error numbers for errors that occur with sockets in windows. So I was wondering if anyone was aware of a way to replace this function in standard c++? A way to get different error numbers for different outcomes of connecting/dissconection a socket would be sufficent.

  • Problem loading a contents URL into a string

    - by bebeTech
    I've been using this method for a few weeks now as suggested on my previous question and the app now keeps crashing with a Protocol 443 error - something about unable to resolve the address. Worked fine when first installed and then just stopped. The same with on the device itself, worked fine until this morning and now the same issue?? Nothing wrong with the URL as I can still load in a browser. If I leave it for a couple of days it starts working again?? Is there a more effecient way of using the Http POST and GET functions? All I am trying to do is perform a login and save the resulting page to a string. Is there a more Android friendly way?
