  • HD Crash SQL server -> DBCC - consistency errors in table 'sysindexes'

    Hello A client of mine has had an HD crash an a SQL DB got corrupt : They did not make backups so they have a big problem. When I tried (an ultimate measure) to DBCC-repair I got the following message. Can anybody help me with this ? Server: Msg 8966, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Could not read and latch page (1:872) with latch type SH. sysindexes failed. Server: Msg 8944, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Table error: Object ID 2, index ID 0, page (1:872), row 11. Test (columnOffsets->IsComplex (varColumnNumber) && (ColumnId == COLID_HYDRA_TEXTPTR || ColumnId == COLID_INROW_ROOT || ColumnId == COLID_BACKPTR)) failed. Values are 2 and 5. The repair level on the DBCC statement caused this repair to be bypassed. CHECKTABLE found 0 allocation errors and 1 consistency errors in table 'sysindexes' (object ID 2). DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.

  • Interesting Row_Number() bug

    I was playing with the Stack Exchange Data Explorer and ran this query: http://odata.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/q/2828/rising-stars-top-50-users-ordered-on-rep-per-day Notice down in the results, rows 11 and 12 have the same value and so are mis-numbered, even though the row_number() function takes the same order by parameter as the query. I know the correct fix here is to specify an additional tie-breaker column in the order by clauses, but I'm more curious as to why/how the row_number() function returned different results on the same data? If it makes a difference anywhere, this runs on Azure.

  • How can I get Syslogging to work on the JVM?

    I want to do syslogging from Java. There is a log4j appender, but it doesn't seem to work (for me anyway ... though Google results show many others with this issue still unresolved).     Hello. I'm trying to get rid of unnecessary symbols after decimal seperator of my double value. I'm doing it this way: DecimalFormat format = new DecimalFormat("#.#####"); value = Double.valueOf(format.format(41251.50000000012343)); But when I run this code, it throws: java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "41251,5" at sun.misc.FloatingDecimal.readJavaFormatString(FloatingDecimal.java:1224) at java.lang.Double.valueOf(Double.java:447) at ... As I see, Double.valueOf() works great with strings like "11.1", but it chokes on strings like "11,1". How do I work around this? Is there a more elegant way then something like Double.valueOf(format.format(41251.50000000012343).replaceAll(",", ".")); Is there a way to override the default decimal separator value of DecimalFormat class?

  • Distance between numpy arrays, columnwise

    I have 2 arrays in 2D, where the column vectors are feature vectors. One array is of size F x A, the other of F x B, where A << B. As an example, for A = 2 and F = 3 (B can be anything): arr1 = np.array( [[1, 4], [2, 5], [3, 6]] ) arr2 = np.array( [[1, 4, 7, 10, ..], [2, 5, 8, 11, ..], [3, 6, 9, 12, ..]] ) I want to calculate the distance between arr1 and a fragment of arr2 that is of equal size (in this case, 3x2), for each possible fragment of arr2. The column vectors are independent of each other, so I believe I should calculate the distance between each column vector in arr1 and a collection of column vectors ranging from i to i + A from arr2 and take the sum of these distances (not sure though). Does numpy offer an efficient way of doing this, or will I have to take slices from the second array and, using another loop, calculate the distance between each column vector in arr1 and the corresponding column vector in the slice?

  • Slow query with unexpected scan

    Hello I have this query: SELECT * FROM SAMPLE SAMPLE INNER JOIN TEST TEST ON SAMPLE.SAMPLE_NUMBER = TEST.SAMPLE_NUMBER INNER JOIN RESULT RESULT ON TEST.TEST_NUMBER = RESULT . TEST_NUMBER WHERE SAMPLED_DATE BETWEEN '2010-03-17 09:00' AND '2010-03-17 12:00' the biggest table here is RESULT, contains 11.1M records. The left 2 tables about 1M. this query works slowly (more than 10 minutes) and returns about 800 records. executing plan shows clustered index scan over all 11M records. RESULT.TEST_NUMBER is a clustered primary key. if I change 2010-03-17 09:00 to 2010-03-17 10:00 - i get about 40 records. it executes for 300ms. and plan shows clustered index seek if i replace * in SELECT clause to RESULT.TEST_NUMBER (covered with index) - then all become fast in first case too. this points to hdd io issues, but doesn't clarifies changing plan. so, any ideas?

    I am working on Solaris 10, Sun Studio 11. I am refactoring some old code, and trying to write unit tests for them. My make file looks like: my_model.o:my_model.cc CC -c my_model.cc -I/../../include -library=stlport4 -instances=extern unit_test: unit_test.o my_model.o symbol_dictionary.o CC -o unit_test unit_test.o my_model.o symbol_dictionary.o -I../../include \ -library=stlport4 -instances=extern unit_test.o: unit_test.cc CC -c unit_test.cc -I/../../include -library=stlport4 -instances=extern symbol_dictionary.o: cd ../../test-fixtures && ($MAKE) symbol_dictionary.o mv ../../test-fixtures/symbol_dictionary.o . In the ../../test-fixtures makefile, I have the following target: symbol_dictionary.o: CC -c symbol_dictionary.cc -I/../../include -library=stlport4 -instances=extern I do the instances=extern because I had linking problems before, and this was the recommended solution. The consequence is in each directory that is being compiled, a SunWS_Cache directory is created to store the template instances. This is the long way to get to this question. Is it a standard practice to consolidate object files in a single directory before you link them?

  • Using Array Variables For FILE_GET_CONTENTS

    I have a script all done now and everything has been debugged and it works, except for the last hurdle. This script grabs pertinent information on bank web sites, takes that data and uses it to populate a template and then it's all posted to Wordpress - BUT I get an error because the file_get_contents function fails taking each url from the Array.   • javascript date.utc problem

    I'm trying to compare 2 dates using javascript. 1 at the end of the month and 1 at the beginning. I need to compare these 2 dates in seconds so I'm using the Date.UTC javascript function. Here's the code: var d = Date.UTC(2010,5,31,23,59,59); document.write(d); var d2 = Date.UTC(2010,6,1,12,20,11); document.write(d2); The output for is: 1278028799000 1277986811000 This is telling me that 1/6/2010 is less than 5/31/2010 in milliseconds. How is that possible? What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

  • Google App Engine - About how much quota does a single datastore put use?

    The latency for a datastore put is about 150ms (http://code.google.com/status/appengine/detail/datastore/2010/03/11#ae-trust-detail-datastore-put-latency). About how much CPUTime is used by a single datastore put with data size of 100 bytes, into an entity that has only 2 columns, and no indexes? I plan to do some testing with this later today to figure it out, but if anyone already knows that would help me out :). Also, does anyone know about how much extra overhead in CPUTime doing this datastore put through the task queue would be?     Hello, a few weeks ago a co-worker of mine spent about two hours finding out why this piece of C++/CLI code won't compile with Visual Studio 2008 (I just tested it with Visual Studio 2010... same story). public ref class Test { generic<class T> where T : value class void MyMethod(Nullable<T> nullable) { } }; The compiler says: Error 1 error C3214: 'T' : invalid type argument for generic parameter 'T' of generic 'System::Nullable', does not meet constraint 'System::ValueType ^' C:\Users\Simon\Desktop\Projektdokumentation\GridLayoutPanel\Generics\Generics.cpp 11 1 Generics Adding ValueType will make the code compile. public ref class Test { generic<class T> where T : value class, ValueType void MyMethod(Nullable<T> nullable) { } }; My question is now. Why? What is the difference between value class and ValueType?

  • library interposition with dlsym

    I'm writing an interposition library to track the usage of some library functions in libc, such as open(), close(), connect(), etc. It works generally well on most of the applications. However, when I try it with PHP, using PHP's MySQL module in particular, none of the function calls to libc inside this module is been tracked (so no connect(), no socket(), etc.). 'strace' told me that the system calls socket(), connect(), etc., took place. Running 'file' on the module and libmysqlclient.so.16.0.0 said that they are all dynamically linked. So it shouldn't be a problem caused by static linkage. What might be the problem? I'm using Fedora 11 64-bit version. Thank you.

More specifically, I want to read the value of the ASP.NET_SessionId cookie returned by an ASP.NET Web Service I am consuming. I've used both a print statement and breakpoint to no avail.     I want to print labels in words as returned by a SQL query such as follow. 1 2 3 4 5 6 When I want to print the reverse of those labels, I have to print them as follow 3 2 1 6 5 4 In my real case, I have 5 colums by 2 rows, how can I formulate my query so that my records are ordered like the second one.
