• How can you connect to a password protected MS Access Database from a Spring JdbcTemplate?

  I need to connect to a password protected MS Access 2003 DB using the JDBC-ODBC bridge. I can't find out how to specify the password in the connect string, or even if that is the correct method of connecting. It would probably be relevant to mention that this is a Spring App which is accessing the database through a JdbcTemplate configured as a datasource bean in our application context file. • Offline Mapping API

  Are there any services available that allow me to manipulate maps in an offline setting? I am working on a project that requires me to take a map and based on features on the map, generate a game world. I have looked at a few of the API's for different providers: Google, ms, etc. The API's I looked seem to be strictly showing a user a map. I am looking for something that allows me to create a derivative of a map (the Gameworld), that will never be seen by the public, and is only used by the game engine. However one caveat is that I would like to be able to link the derivative created for use by the game engine, with something I can show the user. As an example. Think of a cross country racing sim. Users cannot control the vehicles directly in this game, they can only control the cars setup, driver, etc. I create a gameworld from a map. The gameworld data (driver position, etc) is overlayed onto a real map. A race might last several days. The only interaction users have with the real map is viewing their position on the map, and where they are in relation to the others. I don't want to violate the terms of the API here. I read Googles API TOS, and it seems to me that creating the gameworld would violdate their TOS. The features I really need are the following The ability to locate a specific place on the map by lat/long The ability/rights to grab those maps and save them as an image file temporarily for processing The ability/rights to store a gameworld that is based on the real map The ability to show a user a map with an overlay (this is optional. I can use googles API, or any other one that supports lat/long.)

  Hello, I have recently been trying to familiarize myself with the Linux Networking stack and device drivers (have both similarly named O'Reilly books) with the eventual goal of offloading UDP. I have already implemented UDP on the NIC but now the hard part... My question is about the dev_add_pack. Is it the case that the protocol being registered as a filter will always be placed at this layer between L2 and the device driver? Or, for instance could I make such a filtering occur between the application and transport layers (analyze socket parameters) using the same process? I apologize if this is confusing - I am having some trouble wrapping my head around the bigger picture when it comes to modules altering kernel stack functionality. Thanks

• How do I do MongoDB console-style queries in PHP?

  I'm trying to get a MongoDB query from the javascript console into my PHP app. What I'm trying to avoid is having to translate the query into the PHP "native driver"'s format... I don't want to hand build arrays and hand-chain functions any more than I want to manually build an array of MySQL's internal query structure just to get data. I already have a string producing the exact content I want in the Mongo console: db.intake.find({"processed": {"$exists": "false"}}).sort({"insert_date": "1"}).limit(10); The question is, is there a way for me to hand this string, as is, to MongoDB and have it return a cursor with the dataset I request? Right now I'm at the "write your own parser because it's not valid json to kinda turn a subset of valid Mongo queries into the format the PHP native driver wants" state, which isn't very fun. I don't want an ORM or a massive wrapper library; I just want to give a function my query string as it exists in the console and get an Iterator back that I can work with. I know there are a couple of PHP-based Mongo manager applications that apparently take console-style queries and handle them, but initial browsing through their code, I'm not sure how they handle the translation. I absolutely love working with mongo in the console, but I'm rapidly starting to loathe the thought of converting every query into the format the native writer wants...

• Requirements for connecting to Oracle with JDBC?

  I'm a newbie to Java-related web development, and I can't seem to get a simple program with JDBC working. I'm using off-the-shelf Oracle 10g XE and the Eclipse EE IDE. From the books and web pages I've checked so far, I've narrowed the problem down to either an incorrectly written database URL or a missing JAR file. In my struggling, I already managed to avoid the javax.naming.NameNotFoundException by: 1. using in java new InitialContext().lookup(connection); instead of new JndiObjectFactoryBean().setJndiName(connection); 2. changing the connection name from: 'jndi-name' to 'java:jndi-name' Now the problem is that the datasouce that I get from the lookup is null. • rake db:migrate fails when trying to do inserts

  I'm trying to get a database populate so I can begin working on a project. THis project is already built and I'm being brought in to helpwith front-end work. Problem is I can't get rake db:migrate to do any inserts. I've updated ruby, installed rails and all the needed gems. I have the 64 bit version of MySQL installed. I've tried the 32 bit version of MySQL and I've even tried installing from macports (via http://www.robbyonrails.com/articles/2010/02/08/installing-ruby-on-rails-passenger-postgresql-mysql-oh-my-zsh-on-snow-leopard-fourth-edition) The mysql gemis installed using: sudo env ARCHFLAGS="-arch x86_64" gem install mysql -- --with-mysql-config=/path/to/mysql/bin/mysql_config the migrate creates the tables just fine but it dies every. single. time. it trys an insert. Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at structure5.GraphListDirected.addEdge(GraphListDirected.java:93) at Driver.main(Driver.java:28) I was under the impression that line = buffer.split("\\s+"); would return a 2 dimensional array of Strings to the variable line. It seemed to work the first time but not the second. Any thoughts? I would also like some feedback on my implementation of this problem. Is there a better way? Anything to help out a novice! :)

  I am facing this strange timeout behavior. Now if I restart the firefox I can see the new values. But if I try to run the above code - the firefox window opens and it waits for a particular website for a long time. Hence I open another tab in the same firefox window and check the values of timeout and find them to be 90 and 250. If I change the values on that same window, the selenium code immediately finishes requesting for the page (ie it goes after the exception block). So the thing is that the same code will work on many sites and I don't know beforehand which site is invalid/down and I was thinking of putting this code in a separate thread and kill the thread after some time from the calling thread. But that is not possible I guess because the child thread has no way to poll anything as it is stuck at page request and can't go to the polling code afterwards. Now the thing is that I want any kind of hack/workaround to accomplish this: try getting the emails for good sites and if there are bad sites just give up after a certain period (press the panic button sorta thing). • PHP PDO changes remote host to local hostname

  I'm trying to connect to a remote mysql server using PDO. However, regardless of the hostname or ip address i supply in the dsn, when the script is run it always reverts the address to the hostname of the local server where the webserver is running. Google suggests this could be something to do with SELinux and apaches ability to connect to remote databases, however i have SELinux disabled. Distro: Ubuntu 11.04 x64 Apache version: 2.2.17 PHP Version: PHP 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.11 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) Edit: Added code as requested. • Unable to execute gs program: No such file or directory

  I've setup CUPS + Avahi on my NAS box in order to enable AirPrint with my existing network printer. Printing a test page via CUPS and printing us lp works fine, and I am able to see my printer on the printer list on my iOS device. However when sending a print job from my iOS device the printer status is set to paused and doesnt print anything. When checking the error_logs I have found this line which I believe is causing the error.   I have made a bash command which generates a one liner for restarting all Weblogic ( 8,9,10) instances on a server /usr/ucb/ps auwwx | grep weblogic | tr ' ' '\n' | grep security.policy | grep domain | awk -F'=' '{print $2}' | sed 's/weblogic.policy//' | sed 's/security\///' | sort | sed 's/^/cd /' | sed 's/$/ ; cd .. ; \/recycle_script_directory_path\/recycle/ ;' | tr '\n' ' ' To restart a Weblogic instance, the recycle ( /recycle_script_directory_path/recycle/) script needs to be initiated from within the domain directory as the recycle script pulls some application information from some .ini files in the domain directory. The following part of the script generates a line to cd to the parent directory of the app i.e. the domain directory sed 's/$/ ; cd .. ; \/recycle_script_directory\/recycle/ ;' | tr '\n' ' ' I am sure there is a better way to cd to the parent directory like cd dirname but every time i run the following cd command , it throws a "Variable syntax" error. cd $(dirname '/domain_directory_path/app_name') How do i incorporate the cd to the directory name in a better way ?
