  • Can I wrap a long filename?

    I have a table in a fieldset that is not displayed properly (overflow) because of a long file name that I cannot wrap. Is there a way to wrap the file name that is in the table? <table> <tr><td>stackoverflow.com/questions/4584756/how-can-i-make-the-datagridviewtextboxcolumn-wrap-to-a-new-line-if-its-text-is-t</td></tr> </table> I set the width and overflow style on the element and still no help. Any other ideas?

  • Extra space while installing .msi

    I have extra space in my custom made .msi. The data to be installed has about 600MB and the installer says it needs 1.4 GB.Switching to a different location then the predetermined one (e.g from C:\Program Files\My_App to F:\My_App) shows that it always need approximately 800 MB on the Windows partition, which is in my case the extra space. Any thoughts on why is this happening? Also can this cause an installation error on a 64-bit OS? I've only installed it on a 32-bit OS and everything is fine, but one of my colleagues is having problems installing it on the above mentioned type.

    I want to implement a UAC prompt for an application in visualc++ the operating system is 32bit x7460(2processor) Windowsserver 2008 the exe is myproject.exe through manifest..   • Why can one null return be tested but another throws an exception?

    I want to test if an xml attribute is present. Given this: XmlAttributeCollection PG_attrColl = SomeNodeorAnother.Attributes; This first test works: if (null != PG_attrColl["SomeAttribute"]) "GetNamedItem" is supposed to return null, but the following test throws an exception complaining about the null it returns. if (null != PG_attrColl.GetNamedItem("SomeAttribute").Value;) Why the difference? Just curious.

    I have defined two properties "Name" and "ID" for an object which I use for the DisplayMember and ValueMember of a ComboBox with a BindingList datasource. I recently installed Resharper to evaluate it. Resharper is giving me warnings on the object that the two properties are unused.   • non-english VS2008 + Resharper 4.5 = problems

    I have russian version of VS2008 (don't aske me why..) + R# 4.5. After installing R# these problems appear: Can't select text with "Ctrl+Shift+arrow" (no idea how to fix it) Can't use Resharper shortcut scheme. I have trying to apply R# scheme, rebooting VS - no luck. Seems like Russian VS have something different inside it, not only russian textboxes... Any ideas?

My problem is that it will ONLY draw the string in the upper-left portion of the form, roughly 260x260 starting at 0,0. It literally cuts off the text if it goes beyond. Why is this? Shouldn't it work for the entire form?

    I am running IIS 6.0 on an XP OS using VS 2008 and SQL Server 2008 (Full install). I developed two web apps. Both of these I can run from IIS by setting them to the default website. However, now I tried adding an index.htm file. Real simple; all it has is two hyperlinks to these web apps. But now only the first web app works. The first web app is pure VS. The second web app modifies an Adventureworks database table. But now when I click the hyperlink for the second web app, it gives me the error below. However this error doesn't make sense to me cause I have the two web apps configured as two virtual directories beneath C:\inetpub\ and the index.htm file is also beneath C:\inetpub. And the default website is set to home directory C:\inetpub\ with Document index.htm on top. Also, why does the first web app work and not the second now? Server Error in '/AddFileToSQL' Application. The path '/AddFileToSQL/App_GlobalResources/' maps to a directory outside this application, which is not supported.     I am using visual inheritance and was wondering if there is a way to change the properties of inherited controls at design time, preferably in the form designer. If not, then in the designer code. I have my control declared as Public in the base class. I can access it in the child form code, but not in the form designer. Is this just not possible?

    without using a database i wanted a file to point to the newest revision of a file. Someone suggested using a shortcut. Knowing i can rewrite file.ext to file.ext.lnk i thought it was a great idea. Then i tried it, my server (VS 2010rc) serves the shortcut rather then the file. Not what i wanted... How do i serve the file the shortcut is pointing to? NOTE: I am planing to use windows 2008 as my server so a solution should work on that as well. The OS i am running is windows 7.

  • .NET Application with SQL Server CE Database

    I just started using SQL Server CE 3.5 in my WinForms Application (C# in VS 2008 SP1). I've noticed a couple of interesting things I'd like some input on: 1. Copying of sdf file to bin My sdf file is located inside of an Infrastructure project that houses my repository implementations. When the application is first debugged the sdf was copied to debug\bin. This is where all future reads/writes operate. At some point when this is deployed the file will go into a data folder using Click Once, but during development where should I be putting this sdf? Is having it in the bin typical, or are there any other recommendations? 2. Updating sdf It appears that writing to the sdf file does not immediately update the database. I am using Linq-to-SQL and am calling SubmitChanges, but on read the values are not returned. However if I close the application and re-open it the added value is there. Is there an additional flush step I need to take? What is causing this, file locking, buffering, something else? Update 3. Unit Tests I have an MS test project, and the sdf file is not being copied to the correct output directory. I have the settings: Build Action: Content Copy to Output Directory: Copy Always The message is: System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeException: The database file cannot be found. Check the path to the database. I appreciate any guidance on these questions, thanks. If there is a tutorial other than what is on MSDN that you know about that would be great too. Working with CE is proving to be a difficult task and I welcome any help I can find.

  • How to stop DataGridView from polluting my Designer file with column controlls?

    I'm sure you know the problem, as soon as a BindingSource is connected to a DataGridView the DataGridView generates columns for each Property found in the Type of the BindingSource's DataSource and adds that crap to the Form.Designer.cs file. We only use run time generated columns, the clutter in the designer file is just waste of code, so how can we stop this "feature" of the DataGridView in WinForms?

  • Building SL4 + RIAServices app takes too long on VS2010.

    Got a Win7 box with VS2010 Premium installed on it. Building desktop apps works just fine. But we got this solution with 15 SL4 and 21 desktop projects... Building the SL part of it takes too long. This is very irritating and encourages to drop TDD since every time I run a test it takes ~3 seconds for msbuild to find out that nothing changed and the project should be skipped. The projects are very small and there's nothing fancy in them and we hadn't any problems before we switched from VS2008+SL3. I've heard people complaining abound VS2010 speed in general, but nothing about SL4 build time. Is anyone experiencing same problems and is there any workaround for this?

  • I'd like to preview a Word document on form.

    I'm writing a VB program that fills in values within a word document. I'm utilizing the Microsoft Word 12.0 Object Library as a Reference. I'd like to provide a scrollable preview pane to my user that is within the form he or she is using. It would be even cooler if the user could edit the document through this pane. I've done Interop extensively, so I'm well aware of how to write and edit a Word document. I just want to put it into a frame and preview it. I'll probably try to select around the document based on what is changing as the user provides input so they can see what's being changed and where. Thoughts? Thanks
