Write software for a bank. The program should be menu driven with the facility for bank employees to perform various operations. It should be written using all concepts of Object Oriented programming. You should be able to save your data in a file and read it back (because the bank people will shut down their computers when they go home :p )
Guidelines: The program may select to implement classes like Bank, Account, Savings Account, Fixed Deposit account, Customer, Depositor, Borrower, Transaction, etc.

How to send a command to the terminal through android app and get the output back? For example, sending "ls /" and getting the output to print it in the GUI?
If I'm using a mysql client(eg. squirrel) to execute an update query, after 10 seconds, I cancelled the query, would there be partial update or would everything that's done be rolled back?
Hi,
I'm making a game where when a card is touched, it grows so that it is focused, and when you 'let go', it goes back to its original size and place. This seems pretty standard, however, when I add cards and move the hand around to accommodate different numbers of cards, touching the card makes it go to its original place, and not to the new place.
This has been stumping me for a while now
Any hints would be much appreciated.
Thanks !
Hello.
Can i ask a fundamental question. Why when I try to create a new mysqli object in php with invalid database infomation (say an incorrect database name) does it not return an error intstantly? I usually program server stuff in Java and something like this would throw back an error strait away, not after 20 seconds or so.
For example
$conn = new mysqli($host, $username, $password, $database);
Thanks!
Hi there, this is my first time posting a question here.
I have an array of 12 buttons on a timeline that when first visiting that part of the timeline, get a CLICK eventlistener added to them using a for loop. All of them work perfectly at that point.
When you click one it plays a frame label inside the specific movieClip and reveals a bio on the corresponding person with a close button and removes the CLICK eventlisteners for each button, again using a for loop. The close button plays a closing animation, and then the timeline goes back to the first frame (the one with the 12 buttons on it) and the CLICK eventlisteners are re-added, but now only the first 9 buttons of the array work. There are no output errors and the code to re-add the eventlisteners is exactly the same as the first time that works. I am completely at a loss and am wondering if anyone else has run into this problem.
All of my buttons are named correctly, there are absolutely no output errors (I've used the debug module) and I made sure the array with the buttons in it is outputting all 12 at the moment the close button is clicked to add the eventlisteners back.

Hi,
I need to find a service that will allow me to send and receive SMS on a server for a project. The project requires that a user will have up to 8 keyword options to send, and will receive a different response back based on the keyword that they enter. Does anyone know of services that I could look into that will allow this?
Thanks.
Anyone know of a good library to invoke powershell scripts from within Java? I'm currently spawning a seperate process (powershell.exe) and then parse the output, but it would really be nice if I can leverage Powershell's 'power' by getting objects back from a powershell call.
Edit:
Otherwise, anyone else doing such interop? What method do you use?
Hey,
My head is about to explode with this logic, can anyone help?
Class A #imports Class B.
Class A calls Method A in Class B.
This works great
Class B wants to send a response back to Class A from another method that is called from Method A. If you #import Class A from Class B, it is in effect an infinite loop and the whole thing crashes.
Is there a way to do this properly, like a parent type thing?
BTW, I'm developing for iPhone.
In my application there are two view.First view na dsecond view. Hi Folks,
I have some data in one of my mysql table stored as utf8. The data is some japanese text. I need to export it to excel. Could you tell how to do it?
Exporting by SELECT ... INTO OUTFILE returns some plain text file. I'm not sure how to read it back in excel so that japanese character would show properly
Thanks

I believe back when we were on Win2K, Windows Search would search through Jar files to locate specific classes but this doesn't appear to work in XP. Does anyone know how to enable this in XP?
Note, to do the search in Win2K we just entered *.jar for the files and "ClassABC" for the search text string and the search would return any jar files containing class files where the title contained "ClassABC".
I'm not sure whether this is a server issue, or whether I'm failing to understand how HTTP caching really works.
I have an ASP MVC application running on IIS7. There's a lot of static content as part of the site including lots of CSS, Javascript and image files.
For these files I want the browser to cache them for at least a day - our .css, .js, .gif and .png files rarely change.
My web.config goes like this:
<system.webServer>
<staticContent>
<clientCache cacheControlMode="UseMaxAge"
cacheControlMaxAge="1.00:00:00" />
</staticContent>
</system.webServer>
The problem I'm getting is that the browser (tested Chrome, IE8 and FX) doesn't seem to be caching the files as I'd expect. I've got the default settings (check for newer pages automatically in IE).
On first visit the content downloads as expected
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Cache-Control: max-age=86400
Content-Type: image/gif
Last-Modified: Fri, 07 Aug 2009 09:55:15 GMT
Accept-Ranges: bytes
ETag: "3efeb2294517ca1:0"
Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.0
X-Powered-By: ASP.NET
Date: Mon, 07 Jun 2010 14:29:16 GMT
Content-Length: 918
<content>
I think that the Cache-Control: max-age=86400 should tell the browser not to request the page again for a day.
Ok, so now the page is reloaded and the browser requests the image again. This time it gets an empty response with these headers:
HTTP/1.1 304 Not Modified
Cache-Control: max-age=86400
Last-Modified: Fri, 07 Aug 2009 09:55:15 GMT
Accept-Ranges: bytes
ETag: "3efeb2294517ca1:0"
Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.0
X-Powered-By: ASP.NET
Date: Mon, 07 Jun 2010 14:30:32 GMT
So it looks like the browser has sent the ETag back (as a unique id for the resource), and the server's come back with a 304 Not Modified - telling the browser that it can use the previously downloaded file.
It seems to me that would be correct for many caching situations, but here I don't want the extra round trip. I don't care if the image gets out of date when the file on the server changes.
There are a lot of these files (even with sprite-maps and the like) and many of our clients have very slow networks. Each round trip to ping for that 304 status is taking about a 10th to a 5th of a second. Many also have IE6 which only has 2 HTTP connections at a time. The net result is that our application appears to be very slow for these clients with every page taking an extra couple of seconds to check that the static content hasn't changed.
What response header am I missing that would cause the browser to aggressively cache the files?
How would I set this in a .Net web.config for IIS7?
Am I misunderstanding how HTTP caching works in the first place?
I own and have read most of this book, a while back. Now I'm about to embark on a pretty large project and was wanting a refresher. Anyone got a recommendation of something similar that has a focus on c#. I know the principles remain, but if only for my readability..
cheers
I'd like to open a .jpg file in WPF, scale it down to around 50%, then save it back to the file system. What's a good/efficient way to go about doing that?
Hello,
I've build a UINavigationBar into Interface Builder, and I have a NavigationController into my app. I'd like to make the one use the other to work. Just to manage the bar into IB and let the controller use it as its view (and adding by itself the Back button if needed), or in another way to do the same thing, let the NavBar use the navcontroller to adjust its display.
Do you see a way to do this ?
If not, I really don't see the use of the NavigationBar proposed into IB.
I am working with Rails 2.2.
The required behaviour is as follows:
I have a link(with a ajax link embedded)
xyz.com/admin#page1
When I go to the above page, I should be redirected to the login page, if I am not logged in.
After I log in, I should be taken back to
xyz.com/admin#page1
For this I need to store the url in session when I visit any page.
The problem is that when I do request.uri, I get
xyz.com/admin
But I want to store
xyz.com/admin#page1
Regards,
Pankaj
Hi All,
While working in my application i came across a situation in which there are likely chances to Unque Constraints Violation.I have following options
Catch the exception and throw it back to UI
At UI check for the exception and show approrpriate Error Message
This is something different idea is to Check in advance about the existance of the given Unique value before starting the whole operation.
My Question is what might be the best practice to handle such situation.Currently we are using combo of Struts2+Spring 3.x+Hibernate 3.x
Thanks in advance
Hi,
I am trying to figure out certain memory leak conditions in javascript on a few browsers. Currently I'm only testing FF 3.6, Opera 10.10, and Safari 4.0.3. I've started with a fairly simple test, and can confirm no memory leaks in Firefox and Safari. But Opera just takes memory and never gives it back. What gives? Here's the test:
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">
window.onload = init;
//window.onunload = cleanup;
var a=[];
function init() {
var d = document.createElement('div');
d.innerHTML = "page loading...";
document.body.appendChild(d);
for (var i=0; i<400000; i++) {
a[i] = new Obj("xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx");
}
d.innerHTML = "PAGE LOADED";
}
function cleanup() {
for (var i=0; i<400000; i++) {
a[i] = null;
}
}
function Obj(msg) {
this.msg=msg;
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
I shouldn't need the cleanup() call on window.unload, but tried that also. No luck. As you can see this is simple JS, no circular DOM links, no closures. I monitor the memory usage using 'top' on Mac 10.4.11. Memory usage spikes up on page load, as expected. In FF and Safari reloading the page does not use any further memory, and all memory is returned when the window (tab) is closed. In Opera, memory spikes on load, and seems to also spike further on each reload (but not always...). But regardless of reload, memory never goes back down below the initial load spike.
I had hoped this was a no-brainer test that all browsers would pass, so I could move on to more "interesting" conditions. Am I doing something wrong here? Or is this a known Opera issue?
Thanks!

Hi,
Ok, let's assume we are working with ASP.NET MVC 2 (latest and greatest preview) and we want to create AJAX user interface with jQuery. So what are our real options here?
Option 1 - Pass Json from the Controller to the view, and then the view submits Json back to the controller. This means (in the order given):
User opens some View (let's say - /Invoices/January) which has to visualize a list of data (e.g. <IEnumerable<X.Y.Z.Models.Invoice>>)
Controller retrieves the Model from the repository (assuming we are using repository pattern).
Controller creates a new instance of a class which we will serialize to Json. The reasaon we do this, is because the model may not be serializable (circular reference ftl)
Controller populates the soon-to-be-serialized class with data
Controller serializes the class to Json and passes it the view.
User does some change and submits the 'form'
The View submits back Json to the controller
The Controller now must 'manually' validate the input, because the Json passed does not bind to a Model
See, if our View is communicating to the controller via Json, we lose the Model validation, which IMHO is incredible disadvantage. In this case, forget about data annotations and stuff.
Option 2 - Ok, the alternative of the first approach is to pass the Models to the Views, which is the default behavior in the template when you start a new project.
We pass a strong typed model to the view
The view renders the appropriate html and javascript, sticking to the model property names. This is important!
The user submits the form. If we stick to the model names, when we .serialize() the form and submit it to the controller it will map to a model.
There is no Json mapping. The submitted form directly binds to a strongly typed model, hence, we can use the model validation. E.g. we keep the business logic where it should be.
Problem with this approach is, if we refactor some of the Models (change property names, types, etc), the javascript we wrote would become invalid. We will have to manually refactor the scripting and hope we don't miss something. There is no way you can test it either.
Ok, the question is - how to write an AJAX front end, which keeps the business logic validation in the model (e.g. controller passes and receives a Model type), but in the same time doesn't screw up the javascript and html when we refactor the model?
