  • How do I redirect all requests to files in the root folder to point to another folder?

    - by purpletonic
I've moved all of my files from the root of my website into a subfolder, I'd like to do an Apache redirect to point to the files without affecting the other subfolders in my site. E.g. /index.html -- redirect to -- /subfolder1/index.html /file1.html -- redirect to -- /subfolder1/index.html /subfolder2/index.html -- No redirect Can anyone help me with the redirect rule that I need to write for this. Thanks,

  • Apache Forbidden: httpd.conf or File Permissions

    - by Alan Storm
When setting up an Apache virtual host, I'll occasionally get the following error when attempting to access the site. Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Is there any method to (or tool that will) tell me why Apache is denying access? (local rule in httpd.conf, file permissions, etc. I'm not looking for help with a specific configuration, instead I'm looking for a way to have the computer tell me what's wrong with my system and/or configuration.

  • Remapping Linux serial port device names

    - by davefiddes
I have a server running Debian Linux which has a built in serial port which is coming up as ttyS0. I have a plug in PCI card with two serial ports that are being registered with Linux as ttyS2 and ttyS3. Unfortunately I am trying to run some software which assumes that ttyS0 and ttyS1 are available. Is it possible to remap the serial port device names (using a udev rule?) such that ttyS0 remains as it is and ttyS2 becomes ttyS1?

  • How to keep SpamAssassin up to date under CentOS?

    - by Josh
I am running CentOS 5.4 with SpamAssassin installed via yum. However the version yum installed was SpamAssassin version 3.2.5 and I am finding that this version has many outdated rules -- including a rule FH_DATE_PAST_20XX which marks all email from the year 2010 and forward as spam. Not good. yum says SpamAssassin is up to date -- what can I do to make yum keep SpamAssassin really up to date?

  • How to match a string in URI with regular expression?

    - by forestclown
In my Apache config httpd.conf, I wish to setup a rule like below SetEnvIfNoCase %{QUERY_STRING} ^.*(getBook+)$ no-gzip dont-vary I am hoping to do no-gzip when my URL looks like http://myurl.fake.com/book/getBook3?id=234 http://myurl.fake.com/book/getBook1?id=xxx I am not sure if I can do that by setting up something like the above in httpd.conf.. The reason I do query string is because the url myurl.fake.com/book/getBook3 was mod_rewrite from myurl.fake.com/index.php?controller=book&action=getBook3 Thanks!

The version of Nginx on our host doesn't have try_files yet.

  • Yahoo Messenger IP range

    - by Adrian
I use PeerBlock (former PeerGuardian) and, as a consequence, Yahoo Messenger (actually Pidgin) fails to connect every once in a while; PeerBlock reports the access being blocked because the destination IP is in one of the block lists. Where can I get a list of all IP ranges belonging to Yahoo Messenger so I can configure an "allow" rule in PeerBlock?

  • Windows 8 ignores more specific route

    - by Lander
OS: Windows 8 I have a cabled NIC (connected to router with ip 192.168.1.0) and a WIFI NIC (connected to a router with ip 192.168.1.1) . I want all traffic to go through the cabled NIC, except the 192.168.1.0/8 range should use the wifi-nic. This was working fine in Windows 7, without any manual configuration. In Windows 8 however, it's not. • Uninstall ruby from source

    - by vise
I installed ruby 1.9 on my fedora 13 machine from source. I want to go back and use the older 1.8.6 (which I'll install with yum), unfortunetly it appears that I can't simply uninstall my current version by "make uninstall" (make: *** No rule to make targetuninstall'. Stop.`). Is there any way of doing this other than removing each individual file?

  • How do I get the Windows 7 Firewall to prompt me whether to allow or deny a new connection?

    - by Epaga
In Vista and before, new programs attempting an ingoing or outgoing connection would cause a Windows prompt whether to allow or deny the program as a rule. In Windows 7 I seem to have to manually enter rules. Is there any way to get Windows 7 to ask me on its own? Edit : The options MrStatic points to in his answer are already turned on. No prompts, hence my question. See this forum entry for another guy with the same problem

  • How does Azureus get my firewall to open a port (Debian Linux)?

    - by Norman Ramsey
I downloaded Azureus (a bittorrent client) for Debian Linux, and I notice that Azureus got my firewall (a Verizon wireless base station) to open a TCP and UDP port forwarding for it, without my having to do anything. My base station is password protected, and I'm alarmed at the idea that any random application can open ports without my knowing about it. Can somebody explain to me what is going on and how it is possible that Azureus can create this port-forwarding rule without any authentication?
