    I am a little confused on the logic of how to write this SQL statement. When a user clicks on a tag, say HTML, it would display all the posts with HTML as its tag. (a post can have multiple tags) I have three tables: Posting--posting_id, title, detail, etc tags--tagID, tagname postingtag--posting_id, tagID I want to display all the title of the post and the date added. global $dbc; $tagID=$_GET['tagID']; //the GET is set by URL //part I need help with.     I have the following SQL query which returns the correct results: SELECT * FROM `tags` WHERE tag_name = '???\\\"?-???????' If I change it to SELECT * FROM `tags` WHERE tag_name LIKE '???\\\"?-???????' or to SELECT * FROM `tags` WHERE tag_name LIKE '???\\\"?-???????%' It doesn't work. It will work if I remove all the backslashes and " from the query.

I am trying to use jquery to add 1 to that number but for example if the number was 70 to begin with it just becomes 701.     Ok, I have 5 tables which I need to pull information from based on one variable. gameinfo id | name | platforminfoid gamerinfo id | name | contact | tag platforminfo id | name | abbreviation rosterinfo id | name | gameinfoid rosters id | gamerinfoid | rosterinfoid The 1 variable would be gamerinfo.id, which would then pull all relevant data from gamerinfo, which would pull all relevant data from rosters, which would pull all relevant data from rosterinfo, which would pull all relevant data from gameinfo, which would then pull all relevant data from platforminfo. Basically it breaks down like this: gamerinfo contains the gamers basic information. rosterinfo contains basic information about the rosters (ie name and the game the roster is aimed towards) rosters contains the actual link from the gamer to the different rosters (gamers can be on multiple rosters) gameinfo contains basic information about the games (ie name and platform) platform info contains information about the different platforms the games are played on (it is possible for a game to be played on multiple platforms) I am pretty new to SQL queries involving JOINs and UNIONs and such, usually I would just break it up into multiple queries but I thought there has to be a better way, so after looking around the net, I couldn't find (or maybe I just couldn't understand what I was looking at) what I was looking for. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

    This code works fine to find an available room within certain date, but it does not work to show a room that has been booked and canceled The "hotel" has 4 rooms and 1 of them has been booked an canceled So even if I make a cancelation, the select method keeps giving me 3 results. Maybe because the second AND is still running. So basically what I need is check if the room is booked in the selected dates if it has been booked, check if its canceled if it has been canceled, or not booked display it. I want to compare the current date with the one stored into the db in order to change the color of the icon related to the file depending on how long has this feel been uploaded.   • is it better to query database or grab from file? php & mysql

    I am keeping a large amount of words in a database that I want to match up articles to. I was thinking that it would just be better to keep these words in an array and grab that array whenever needed instead of querying the database every time (since the words won't be changing that much). Is there much performance difference in doing this? And if I were to do this, how to I write a script that writes the array to a a new php file. I tried writing the array like so: while( $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($query)) { $newArray[] = $row; } $fp = fopen('noWordsArr.php', 'w'); fwrite($fp, $newArray); fclose($fp); But all I get in the other file is "Array". So i figured I could write this and then write have a chron hit up the file every few days or so in case things have changed. But I guess if there is no performance advantage then it prob won't be necessary and I can just query the database every time I need to access the words.

  • Is there a work-around that allows missing data to equal NULL for LOAD DATA INFILE in MySQL?

    I have a lot of large csv files with NULL values stored as ,, (i.e., no entry). After a lot of searching I found that this is a known "bug", although it may be a feature for some users. Is there a way that I can fix this on the fly without pre-processing? These data are all numeric, so a zero value is very different from NULL. Or if I have to do pre-processing, is there one that is most promising for dealing with tens of csv files of 100mb to 1gb? Thanks!

    Hi, after extensive trawling of the internet I still havent found any solution for this problem. I`m writing a small C++ app that connects to an online database and outputs the data in a listbox. I need to enable a search function using an edit box, but I cant get the query to work while using a variable. My code is: res = mysql_perform_query (conn, "select distinct artist from Artists"); //res = mysql_perform_query (conn, "select album from Artists where artist = ' ' "); while((row = mysql_fetch_row(res)) != NULL){ CString str; UpdateData(); str = ("%s\n", row[0]); UpdateData(FALSE); m_list_control.AddString(str); } the first "res = " line is working fine, but I need the second one to work. I have a member variable m_search_edit set up for the edit box, but any way I try to include it in the sql statement causes errors. eg. res = mysql_perform_query (conn, "select album from Artists where artist = '"+m_search_edit+" ' "); causes this error: error C2664: 'mysql_perform_query' : cannot convert parameter 2 from 'class CString' to 'char *' No user-defined-conversion operator available that can perform this conversion, or the operator cannot be called" And when I convert m_search_edit to a char* it gives me a " Cannot add 2 pointers" error. Any way around this???
