• How do I fix this JBoss EJB client authentication issue?

  I have an EJB deployed under JBoss (we're moving a project to it from Weblogic), I can get an EJBHome reference to the EJB via a JNDI lookup. The login-config.xml is set to use the module org.jboss.security.auth.spi.BaseCertLoginModule. When my client code tries to invoke the create method via reflection, calling invoke, I get an InvocationException which wraps an AccessException, which wraps a final exception of javax.security.auth.login.FailedLoginException: Password Incorrect/Password Required at org.jboss.security.auth.spi.UsernamePasswordLoginModule.login(UsernamePasswordLoginModule.java:213).... Am I missing some client code to use BaseCertLoginModule instead of UsernamePasswordLoginModule? Thanks in advance, any suggestions appreciated, apologies for not posting the entire stacktrace but it's on a secured network without internet access.

• Persistence with Vaadin

  Hi I'm trying to learn vaadin. I'm really confused how to do any kind of application development with persistence because if I have a reference to my service layer objects, they get stored in session and I really don't want that. Persistence stuff just isn't serializable. My case is that I have an already made application that uses Spring and I'm creating a new UI for it with Vaadin. I can inject the spring stuff to my Vaadin application but that gets stored in the session. Any tips? By the way how do you post in the Vaadin forums? I can't find a post button or way to register :)

  I am developing an android application that uses a google map in the background. When I start the application, I want to display a map of the hole word. According to the android google maps API v2: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/android/views the way to set a specific zoom value is "CameraUpdateFactory.zoomTo(float)" and the same api https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/android/reference/com/google/android/gms/maps/CameraUpdateFactory#zoomTo(float) tells that the minimum argument to this function is 2. but when I call the function: mMap.moveCamera(CameraUpdateFactory.zoomTo(2)); The viewport of the world map is just a little bigger than Australia...   So, I am learning Javascript while playing white Google Calendar APIs and I just can't figure how this piece of code is working this way: var entriesResult = []; var data = new Date(2010,3,22,17,0,0); var callback = function(result) { var entries = result.feed.getEntries(); if (entries.length != 0) { entriesResult = eventsManager(entries, 0, data); window.alert("inner entriesResult " + entriesResult.length); } } this.service.getEventsFeed(this.query, callback, handleGDError); window.alert("outer entriesResult " + entriesResult.length); eventsManager() is a function that returns an array of Objects. getEventsFeed() it's an API function: it queries the service and pass a "feed root" (a feed with selected items) to the callback function. Why the first alert (inner..) outputs a valid entriesResult.length while the second one (outer..) always outputs a 0? I tought javascript arrays are always passed by reference, what's wrong whit my code? Thank you :)

  hello, i have dropdownlist of year which is coming dynamically.i have filled the dropdownlist using object datasource.on inserting in the listview control it is working fine. but when i click on edit button that dropdownlist value should be set which is coming from the database. e.g. if i have a row which contains Year=2006 and month="Jan" then on click on edit button these dropdown list should be fill up. i have written the code in ItemDataBound to set the value of the dropdownlilst.but when i use findcontrol its taking null so object reference error is coming. so please provide me the solution. thanks samir

• Finding out all about Android Uri class - use and purpose

  Does anyone have some helpful links to find out about Android Uri's? For example, you get a Uri back from a "take a picture" Intent. What does a URI look like and how do you use it. Why are they used instead of filenames or file handles? The Dev documentation on the Uri class is practically worthless. http://developer.android.com/reference/android/net/Uri.html It is only clear if you already know exactly what it is, and how to use it.   I have a defines.wxi-file which contains some good definitions used in all my wxs-files. When I attempt to reference the defined value I get Undefined preprocessor variable '$(var.MAGE_FOLDER)' back in my face. I guess there is something trivial I am missing here...   I have the following function that I am using to remove the characters \04 and nulls from my xmlString but I can't find what do I need to change to avoid removing the \ from my ending tags. • Problem installing Maven plugin (m2eclipse) in Eclipse (Galileo)

  I have Eclipse Galileo (for Java EE Developers) installed, and I'm now trying to get the m2eclipse Maven plugin installed as well. I follow the basic steps described at http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/installing-m2eclipse.html, and it seems to be installing just fine. However, after restarting Eclipse after the install it doesn't seem to be anywhere. I should for instance have the ability to create a new maven project, but when the new-project wizard opens, there is no folder for Maven (I also cannot find any reference to it in the context menus of the existing projects I have). When I click at Help About Eclipse Installation Details, I find "Maven Integration for Eclipse (Required)" in the tab "Installed Software", yet another thing pointing towards a successful installation (but I can't find it under the "Plug-ins" tab, should it be there too?)... I feel like I'm just missing something very obvious, but right now I just don't see it...

• Can I get Raid disk status by using PS?

  I have a HP server with Raid 5. Port 0 and 1 are used for data & OS mirroring. The software come with the Raid 5 is Intel Matrix Storage Manager and there is manager console as windows based api to view all the ports, including their status. Now they are all in Normal status. I am not sure if the OS/Windows has some APIs or .Net classes to access raid ports and get their status? If so, how can I use PS to get the information? Do I have to reference to the dlls provided by the Intel Matrix Storage Manager if not? Basically, I would like to write a PS script to get read status. In case any of port disk is not normal, a message will be sent out by growl protocol.

• Sequel Migration not running up?

  Having some trouble with the Migrations in Sequel and could use another set of eyes. I am running a migration that looks ok but no table is created. It is definitely connecting because I can see the schema_info table has been created. -M 0/1 changes the version as you would expect but still no table. • SQL Server: avoiding hard coding of database name in cross-database views

  So, lets say you have two SQL Server Databases on the same server that reference each others tables in their Views, Functions and Stored Procedures. You know, things like this: use database_foo create view spaghetti as select f.col1, c.col2 from fusilli f inner join database_bar.dbo.conchigli c on f.id = c.id (I know that cross-database views are not very good practice, but lets just say you're stuck with it) Are there any good techniques to avoid 'hard coding' the database names? (So that should you need to occasionally re-point to a different database - for testing perhaps - you don't need to edit loads of views, fns, sps) I'm interested in SQL 2005 or SQL 2008 solutions. • problems with user control page

  I am starting to give up troubleshooting this issue I had... I had an .ascx page and had the following user control in it: <td> <Club:DatePicker ID="dp1" runat="server" /> </td> however in my code behind when I tried to write methods: public System.DateTime startDateTime { get { return dp1.SelectedDate.Add(tp1.SelectedTime.TimeOfDay); } set { dp1.SelectedDate = value; tp1.SelectedTime = value; } } It can't reference dp1(dp1 is underlined in red) as well as tp1... why is this?? I've tried to convert the solution to a web application and yet it doesn't work. What are the pros and the cons of primitives in interfaces? In other words, is one of these preferable to the other and why? Perhaps one is preferable to the other in certain contexts? public interface Foo { int getBar(); } or public interface Foo { Integer getBar(); } Similarly: public interface Boz { void someOperation(int parameter); } or public interface Boz { void someOperation(Integer parameter); } Obviously there's the issue of having to deal with nulls in the non-primitive case, but are there deeper concerns?

• Best practice for sharing code between OSX and IOS app

  I am creating an iOS version of an existing OSX app and am wondering what the best practices are for sharing code between the two. The code in question only depends on the foundation framework and the Sqlite dynamic library, so it should compile and run fine on both platforms. It seems to me there are three possible options: Create a single project with and OSX and an IOS targets, add source files to each target as appropriate. Create two separate projects for the OSX and IOS apps, put shared code in a common location in the workspace and add it as reference to both projects. Create three projects: OSX app, IOS app and a shared static library with an OSX and an IOS targets; add each library target to the respective application. Is there any reason one of the above approaches may be better than the other two? If not, option 2 seems to be the simplest by far.

  Hello, I just found out that I loose any reference to the session array if I create a new view and try to set a session variable in the controller. The array just comes out as empty. I actually try to use the session array to store the post vars from a multistep registration form. This was actually working when the php was spachetticode, but now that I dumpt everything in a mvc pattern, it is not functioning anymore.   I'm trying to use ServletContext.getResource to retrieve a java.net.url reference to an image file (which I will then include in a PDF library using iText). When I use ServletContext.getRealPath("picture.jpg"), I get back a string URL. However, getResource always returns null. Example 1: String picture = ServletContext.getRealPath("picture.jpg"); // picture contains a non-null String with the correct path URL pictureURL = ServletContext.getResource(picture); // pictureURL is always null Example 2: URL pictureURL = ServletContext.getResource("picture.jpg"); // pictureURL is always null So what is the correct way to build a java.net.URL object pointing to a file in my webapps folder? Why does getRealPath work but not getResource? In case it helps at all, here is my folder structure webapps - mySite - picture.jpg Does my picture need to be stored in either WEB-INF or WEB-INF/classes to be read by getResource?

• XIB-instantiated Object's IBOutlet is nil

  I have a XIB set up like in this screenshot: File's owner is my main window controller. The XIB is also in charge of creating an object that serves as the delegate for the MGScopeBar view. As you can see in the screenshot, the scope bar delegate has an IBOutlet for the search field so that it can return it as an extra view as part of the delegate process. The problem I'm having is that when the delegate object is queried for the accessory view, the IBOutlet NSSearchField is nil. I'm fairly certain this has something to do with the order that objects are created, IBOutlets wired, etc, but I'm just a little lost as to where in the process I can expect the search field to exist so that the scope bar delegate can reference it properly.   We are currently trying to move large amounts of data to a Silverlight 3 client using WCF with PollingDuplex. I have read about the MultiplerMessagesPerPoll in Silverlight 4 and it appears to be quite a bit faster. Are there any examples out there for me to reference (using MultipleMessagesPerPoll)? Or maybe some good references on using Net.TCP? Maybe I should be taking a completely different approach? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  How do I write a program for iPhone (Objective C++) that runs on OS 2.0 but takes advantage of 3.0 features if they're available? Example: copy&paste (class UIPasteboard). Nice feature to have, but I don't want to kill backward compatibility. Do I compile against SDK v. 3 or v. 2? If the latter, how do I create an instance of UIPasteboard, considering it's not declared in the headers? If the former, won't some C-linkage functions cause "unresolved reference" upon loading under OS 2.0?

• Importing a function/class from a Python module of the same name

  I have a Python package mymodule with a sub-package utils (i.e. a subdirectory which contains modules each with a function). The functions have the same name as the file/module in which they live. I would like to be able to access the functions as follows, from mymodule.utils import a_function Strangely however, sometimes I can import functions using the above notation, however other times I cannot. I have not been able to work out why though (recently, for example, I renamed a function and the file it was in and reflected this rename in the utils.__init__.py file but it no longer imported as a functions (rather as a module) in one of my scripts. The utils.__init__.py reads something like, __all__ = ['a_function', 'b_function' ...] from a_function import a_function from b_function import b_function ... mymodule.__init__.py has no reference to utils Ideas?
