  • Clearing "may not respond" warnings for UIView and UIViewController

    In an iPad app, I'm using a custom subclass of UIView with UIViewController. Here's the view header: @interface pdfView : UIView { CGPDFDocumentRef doc; } -(void)setDoc:(CGPDFDocumentRef)newDoc; @end And here's the controller header: @interface iPadPDFTestViewController : UIViewController { CGPDFDocumentRef doc; } - (void)loadPDF; @end Part of the controller implementation: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [self loadPDF]; [self.view setDoc:doc]; } In Interface Builder, I've set the view object to use the class pdfView. At compilation, [self.view setDoc:doc]; gives the warning "'UIView' may not respond to '--setDoc'." I'm guessing that this warning appears because the compiler thinks it's looking at UIView (which does not implement the setDoc method) instead of pdfView. But why does it think that? And how can I tell it what class it's really looking at, so as to clear the warning?

  • How to set up Flex Unit 4

    Does anyone know of any guides or any sort of documentation on how to set up the new Flex Builder 4 beta? I've been pulling my hair all day long, none of my tests are executed and I can't for the life of me understand what's wrong. There are no errors at all. It's as if the metadata tags are not recognized, is there some special compiler argument to recognize them? I seem to remember that this is not necessary as long as the swc files that are included were compiled with said arguments. I'm using Beta 1 of Flex Unit 4 which can be found here: http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexunit/FlexUnit+4+feature+overview I'm actually using the very same code that is included with that package to run the tests, but no tests are executed. Neither mine nor the ones included in the FU4 package. The lack of documentation certainly doesn't help much...

  • Flex 4 - Using .pfm/.pfb fonts

    Hi everyone, I just switched to Flash Builder 4 & Flex 4 SDK, and it seems it's no longer possible to use a .pfm/.pfb font, either by embedding it or using it as a system font. I keep getting error messages, and Google can't find anybody having the same issue. I tried several methods: - copy/pasting the [Embed] statement which was working using Flex 3 SDK - installing the font and then try to simply call it by its name in a CSS declaration without embedding it ; seems to work for every .ttf and .otf system fonts, but not for .pfm/.pfm ones - using a Flash-generated swf which embeds the font So far none of these seems to work. Has anybody got an idea on how to achieve this? I actually don't care using a system font without embedding it as long as it works. I'll be really grateful if somebody could help me on this, I'm totally stuck and cannot use another font instead.

  • Simple Properties in Objective-C Classes

    Hey, I've bene working with Objective-C for a while now, and so far I have never really needed to craft my own classes, properly. I am a bit confused with the two arguments you can give the @property(a, b) declaration in a header file. When creating outlets to Interface Builder I usually do @property(nonatomic, retain) but I have no idea what this means. I'm writing a simple class which has a set of properties which will be set from the outside, like [instance setName:@"Bla Bla Bla"]; or I guess like instance.name = @"Bla@" but I would rather the first option. How would I declare this kind of property on a class? Thanks in advanced! Sorry for the n00bish question :-)

Question: Does anyone understand why the %7Bcommon (google-maps) file is being delayed from download until the jquery-ui.min file completes download first?

  • Fragment shaders on a texture

    Hello stack overflow. I am trying to add some post-processing capabilities to a program. The rendering is done using openGL. I just want to allow the program to load some home made fragment shader and use them on the video stream. I wrote a little piece of shader using "OpenGL Shader Builder" that just turns a texture in grayscale. The shaders works well in the shader builder but I can't make it work in the main program. The screens stays all black. I think the problem comes from the "passing the texture as a uniform parameter" thing. But these are my very firsts step with openGL and I cant be sure of anything. My question is where can I adjust the cell appearance before entering editing mode? Should I also validate in the business and data layers as well to protect against SQL injection and also issues? What validations should go in each layer? Another example would be passing a ID to return a record. Should the data layer ensure that the id is valid or should that happen in BLL / UI?

    Hi All i am having a form which are having 4 lables and these lables value are displayed in the 4 textboxs, i am using MVVM and binding these textboxs with the Datatble which is coming through the typed dataset not the problem here is when i add a new row in the datatable with default values of columns and update ui by calling onpropertychanged event from my viewmodel , these values are not getting reflected on the form.   • Rails Custom Plugin/Gem with Partials

    I am writing a gem which provides helpers for views. The HTML I want to insert via the helper is complex enough that I'd rather write it in a _partial.html.erb file. How do I get the gem's view path include in the application's load_path? Note: the only gem I've found that does something like this is Devise.     Since I've read Windows User Experience Interaction Guidelines (there's a PDF download avaliable) I've found it to be admirably self-deprecating, humbly pointing out their own horrible UI practices long scolded by Joel Spolsky. I'd like to know, however, what they had in mind while they made those mistakes. Is this (terrific) UX Guidelines document something new, or were there previous issues of such? If so, where can I find them? My prayers to Google yielded no leniency.

    I want to allow user to drag and drop UI elements. I've 'container' and 'control', control may be in container, containers may include other containers (this is important requirement). I created simple prototype using jQuery. HTML: <div class="one"> <div class="control">Control 1</div> <div class="control">Control 2</div> <div class="control container"> Container drag area <div class="control">Subcontrol 1</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 2</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 3</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 4</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 5</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 6</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 7</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 8</div> <div class="control">Subcontrol 9</div> </div> <div class="control">Control 3</div> Then I created sortables using jQueryUI: $('.one').sortable({ items: 'div.control', placeholder: 'placeholder', forcePlaceholderSize: true }); Now when I'm trying to drag "Subcontrol 8" and place it between "Subcontrol 2" and "Subcontrol 3" for example I'm getting jumpy effect, you can observe it here: http://jsbin.com/egipu4/2 Interesting thing is - when I remove ability to drag "container" then it becomes smooth and perfect (you can see this on jsbin example below "jumpy" example, you can't drag using "Container drag area" span). I tried different "nested" plugins and techniques, google'd for a long time and the only one that worked was on this page: (StackOverflow doesn't allow me to post more than one like, google for "Brian Swartzfager's Blog: Nested List Sort Demo" should be first, sorry!) But it does work great only in jQuery1.2 and very old jQueryUI. If I include latest jQuery (1.3/1.4) and UI (1.7/1.8) it gets jumpy as well. What am I doing wrong?

And also, ECommerce.PMethod.Sql.SqlConns.Open() uses its own connection string, not the one loaded by spring, it's different module from diffrent team. And I am sure the connection string is correct. And, this ysod cames up randomly. Sometimes nothing is wrong, and sometimes, it appears. I thought there could be something wrong with my database or the network/firewall, I will check it later, but now I want understand this tricky stack trace.

  • Calling method after view has loaded

    My iPhone app allows for users to type in their usernames and passwords so that they can login. When they login once, their usernames and passwords are saved so that users don't have to type it in again. My problem is, when the app starts again, it immediately starts logging them in, leaving the interface completely black. How would I go about calling my login method AFTER all the UI methods are loaded?
