• How to correctly set the ORACLE_HOME variable on Ubuntu 9.x?

  I have the same problem as listed here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/52239/oracle-lost-sysdba-password although I did not lose the password, I entered it twice in the configure script originally, and then when I went to login (localhost:8080/apex, password not accepted. I don't have anything in the database, I just want to install and use Oracle-XE. I have tried apt-get removing it twice and reinstalling, but if I try to run /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure again and I get "Oracle Database 10g Express Edition is already configured" despite the second time removing any folders I could find for Oracle XE. I tried running sqlplus "/ as sysdba" but all I get is: "Error 6 initializing SQL*Plus Message file sp1.msb not found SP2-0750: You may need to set ORACLE_HOME to your Oracle software directory" I tried setting the variable via export. (also tried set). Tried: "export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/sqlplus" and all the subdirectories of that. Same error every time. What is the ORACLE_HOME supposed to be set to? The only reference I have seen either just say general or say the above up to the version number then "/db_1". I do no thave a db_1. Let me know if need any clarification. Don't understand what I did wrong in this process.

• Facebook Graph API authentication in canvas app and track session

  Short question is: how can i use graph api oauth redirects mechanism to authenticate user and save retrieved access_token and also use javascript SDK when needed (the problem is javascript SDK will have different access_token when initialized). I have initially setup my facebook iframe canvas app, with single sign on. This works well with graph api, as I am able to use access_token saved by facebook's javascript when it detects sessionchange(user logged in). But, I want to rather not do single sign-on. But, use graph api redirect and force user to send to a permissions dialog. But, if he has already given permissions, I shouldn't redirect user. How to handle this? Another question: I have done graph api redirects for authentication and have retrieved access_token also. But then, what if I want to use javascript call FB.ui to do stream.Publish? I think it will use it's own access_token which is set during FB.init and detecting session. So, I am looking for some path here. How to use graph api for authentication and also use facebook's javascript SDK when needed. P.S. I'm using ASP .NET MVC 2. I have an authentication filter developed, which needs to detect the user's authentication state and redirect.(currently it does this to graph api authorize url)

I completely understand the basic notion of protocols and how they work. However, I came across a roadblock when trying to create a custom protocol that in turn implements another protocol. On the other hand, customCallback was being called just fine, which isn't too surprising. I don't understand why STPickerViewDelegate, which itself conforms to UIPickerViewDelegate, does not notify my view controller when events from UIPickerViewDelegate are supposed to occur. Per my understanding of Apple's documentation, if a protocol (A) itself conforms to another protocol (B), then a class (C) that conforms to the first protocol (A) must also conform to the second protocol (B), which is exactly the behavior I want and expected. What I ended up doing was removing the id< STPickerViewDelegate > delegate property from STViewPicker and instead doing something like the following in my STViewPicker implementation where I want to evoke customCallback: if ( [ self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector( customCallback ) ] ) { [ self.delegate performSelector:@selector( customCallback ) ]; } This works just fine, but I really am puzzled as to why my original approach did not work.

However, when the height of the document is the same or less than the window the method above will not work because scrollTop() will always be equal to 0. This becomes a problem if the DOM is updated and the height of the document grows beyond the height of the window after the code runs. Also, I generally don't wait until document.ready to set up my javascript handlers (this generally works). I could append a tall div to the body temporarily to force the method above to work BUT that would required the document to be ready in IE (you can't add a node to the body element before the tag is closed). For more reading on the document.ready "anti-pattern" topic read this. So, I'd love to find a solution that finds the scrollable element even when the document is short. Any ideas?

  Hi, I'm going through the Stanford iPhone course. I'm on the second Paparazzi assignment. I'm getting this error: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'executeFetchRequest:error: A fetch request must have an entity.' I've copied a lot of the code from this walkthrough site. Running his source code works perfectly, and at this point my code is pretty much exactly the same as his. But it throws that error. • Extremely slow MFMailComposeViewControllerDelegate

  I have a bit of a strange problem. I am trying to send in-app email. I am also using Cocos2d. It works, so far as I get the mail window and I can send mail, but it is extremely slow. It seems to only accept touches every second or so. I checked the cpu usage, and it is quite low. I paused my director, so nothing else should be happening. Any ideas? I am pulling my hair out. • facebook connect button not producing pop-up

  This is a really simple question, but I can't seem to find the answer. I am just getting started with Facebook Connect. I would like to use it only for user authentication, so there is no need for my users to create another account. • iPhone: UIImagePickerController Randomly Fails to Take Picture

  I use a UIPickerViewController to take picture. It works 80% but seemingly at random it fails to take a picture. In tracing the code I found out that it occasionally goes to -PinRecordNewTableViewController:viewDidUnload. • MFMailComposeViewController hangs my app

  Hi, I am trying to add email functionality to my app. I can get the MFMailComposeViewController to display correctly and pre-populate its subject and body, but for some reason when the user clicks on the "Cancel" or "Send" buttons in the nav bar the app just hangs. I inserted a NSLog() statement into the first line of mailComposeController"didFinishWithResult:error and it doesn't even print that line out to the console. Does anybody have an idea what would cause the MFMailComposeViewController to hang like that?   Hello, I've been developing an iPhone app for the last few months. Recently I wanted to up performance and cache a few of the images that are used in the UI. The images are downloaded randomly from the web by the user so I can't add specific images to the project. I'm also already using NSUserDefaults to save other info within the app. So now I'm attempting to save a dictionary of UIImages to my NSUserDefaults object and get... -[UIImage encodeWithCoder:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance I then decided to subclass UIImage with a class named UISaveableImage and implement NSCoding. So now I'm at... @implementation UISaveableImage -(void)encodeWithCoder:(NSCoder *)encoder { [encoder encodeObject:super forKey:@"image"]; } -(id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)decoder { if (self=[super init]){ super = [decoder decodeObjectForKey:@"image"]; } return self; } @end which isn't any better than where I started. If I was able to convert an UIImage to NSData I would be good, but all I can find are function like UIImagePNGRepresentation which require me to know what type of image this was. Something that UIImage doesn't allow me to do. Thoughts? I feel like I might have wandered down the wrong path...

• How to enable commenting on the Facebook Like Button

  I'm integrating the Facebook Like Button into a site. The likeing functionality is working fine except that you cannot add comments to your like after you've clicked the like button. Several sites including CNN has this working so this should be possible. The docs mention that you need to use the JavaScript SDK to get commenting to work, which I am doing; however I cannot get commenting to show up. A fuller-featured Like button is available via the XFBML tag and requires you use the new JavaScript SDK. The XFBML version allows users to add a comment to their like as it is posted back to Facebook. I cannot find details on which options are available for this more "fully-featured" XFBML like button. I'm wondering if there is a setting that I need to add, an option that I'm not passing in, or anything that I've overlooked. I am on a dev server, and I'm linking back to the live site for now. Perhaps the ContactURL and the base URL of the liked page need to be the same in order to get commenting to work? • NAudio playback wont stop successfully

• Beginner problems with references to arrays in python 3.1.1

  As part of the last assignment in a beginner python programing class, I have been assigned a traveling sales man problem. I settled on a recursive function to find each permutation and the sum of the distances between the destinations, however, I am have a lot of problems with references.
