  Hi everyone, I am working with streams and sockets in iPhone SDK 3.1.3 the issue is when the program accept a callback and I want to handle this writestream callback the following error is triggered " Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: ' -[NSCFData writeStreamHandleEvent:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x17bc70'" But I don't know how to solve it because everything seems fine. Even when I run the debugger there is no error the program works. Any hint here will help!   I have the webform with dropdown list, label and textbox. I change value on ddlTest dropdown list. SetupVisibility() wants to show textbox and label, but then I get the error: Microsoft JScript - runtime error: Cannot update control with ID: ctl00_CPH1_lblTest. The control does not exist. Where is the problem?

  I need to do full text searching with Google App Engine. I found the project Whoosh and it works really well, as long as I use the App Engine Development Environement... That's not that difficult. The challenge is to find a most generic way to build a class, which serializes/deserializes to and from a byte stream... Pickle, Google protocol buffer, marshal is all not an option. I made little success with having an explicit "def serialize" in my class, but I'm not very happy with it, because it's not generic enough. I hope I could express the problem. But that's not correct, there is still the instance of user inside the array that points to name ! The retain count of a variable should only decrease when the retain count of a referring variable is 0, that is, when it is dealloced, not released.

• Strange behaviour using Drag and Drop in word 2003 automation in headers

  Hi! I am developing a template based addin for Word 2003 which allows the user to drag and drop elements from a listbox into the word document. Unfortunately I'm getting a really strange behaviour when trying to drop elements in the document's header. Open the template and type something in the header Close the header and insert some content on the page Add a page break. Switch to page layout mode where and set zoom level to "Two Pages" Open the header Slowly Drag and Drop an list item from the list box to the header. See multiple Page Setups dialogs occur which cause Word to crash. Here is my code: // in ThisDocument.cs public MyUserControl _control; public void Init() { _control = new MyUserControl(); ActionsPane.Controls.Add(_control); ActionsPane.Visible = true; } // in MyUserControl.cs public void listBox1_MouseDown(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { DoDragDrop("something", DragDropEffects.Copy); } Have I done somethinkg wrong with implementing Drag and Drop? • cx_Oracle makes subprocess give OSError

  I am trying to use the cx_Oracle module with python 2.6.6 on ubuntu Maverick, with Oracle 11gR2 Enterprise edition. I am able to connect to my oracle db just fine, but once I do that, the subprocess module does not work anymore. Here is an iPython session that reproduces the problem... I don't know if cx_Oracle is. Moreover, the above issue mentions that adding a time.sleep(1) fixes it, but it didn't help me. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

• Dismissing UIImagePickerController from UITabBarController

  I have a tab bar application whereby one tab uses a navigation controller to move through a series of views. On the final view, there is a button to add a photo, which presents a UIImagePickerController. So far, so good - however when I finish picking the image, or cancel the operation, the previous view is loaded, but without the tab bar. I'm sure I'm missing something elementary, but any suggestions on how to properly release the UIImagePickerController would be much appreciated. • What objects would get defined in a Bridge scoring app (Javascript)

  I'm writing a Bridge (card game) scoring application as practice in javascript, and am looking for suggestions on how to set up my objects. I'm pretty new to OO in general, and would love a survey of how and why people would structure a program to do this (the "survey" begets the CW mark. Additionally, I'll happily close this if it's out of range of typical SO discussion). The platform is going to be a web-app for webkit on the iPhone, so local storage is an option. My basic structure is like this: var Team = { player1: , player2: , vulnerable: , //this is a flag for whether or //not you've lost a game yet, affects scoring scoreAboveLine: , scoreBelowLine: gamesWon: }; var Game = { init: ,//function to get old scores and teams from DB currentBid: , score: , //function to accept whether bid was made and apply to Teams{} save: //auto-run that is called after each game to commit to DB }; So basically I'll instantiate two teams, and then run loops of game.currentBid() and game.score. Functionally the scoring is working fine, but I'm wondering if this is how someone else would choose to break down the scoring of Bridge, and if there are any oversights I've made with regards to OO-ness and how I've abstracted the game. • How do I begin reading source code?

  I understand the value of reading source code, and I am trying my best to read as much as I can. However, every time I try getting into a 'large' (i.e. complete) project of sorts, I am overwhelmed. For example, I use Anki a lot when revising languages. Also, I'm interested in getting to know how an audio player works (because I have some project ideas), hence quodlibet on Google Code. But whenever I open the source code folders for the above programs, there are just so many files that I don't know where or what to begin with. I think that I should start with files marked init.py but I can't see the logical structure of the programs, or what reasoning was applied when the original writer divided his modules the way he did. Hence, my questions: How/where should I begin reading source? Any general tips or ideas? How does a programmer keep in mind the overall structure and logic of the program, especially for large projects, and is it common not to document that structure? As an open source reader, must I look through all of the code and get a bird's eye view of the code and libraries, before even being able to proceed? Would an IDE like Eclipse SDK (with PyDev) help with code-reading? Thanks for the help; I really appreciate your helping me.

• What would be the safest way to store objects of classes derived from a common interface in a common

  I'd like to manage a bunch of objects of classes derived from a shared interface class in a common container. To illustrate the problem, let's say I'm building a game which will contain different actors. Let's call the interface IActor and derive Enemy and Civilian from it. Now, the idea is to have my game main loop be able to do this: // somewhere during init std::vector<IActor> ActorList; Enemy EvilGuy; Civilian CoolGuy; ActorList.push_back(EvilGuy); ActorList.push_back(CoolGuy); and // main loop while(!done) { BOOST_FOREACH(IActor CurrentActor, ActorList) { CurrentActor.Update(); CurrentActor.Draw(); } } ... or something along those lines. This example obviously won't work but that is pretty much the reason I'm asking here. I'd like to know: What would be the best, safest, highest-level way to manage those objects in a common heterogeneous container? I know about a variety of approaches (Boost::Any, void*, handler class with boost::shared_ptr, Boost.Pointer Container, dynamic_cast) but I can't decide which would be the way to go here. Also I'd like to emphasize that I want to stay away as far as possible from manual memory management or nested pointers. Help much appreciated :).

• Navigation Controller Views in Landscape

  Hi, I have set up a navigation controller ( navController ) in Portrait mode to which I push all the viewcontrollers I have. Now when a user switches to Landscape mode, I need to display all the views as a coverflow. For this I use [navController viewControllers] to get all the view controllers in the stack. In the Landscape view controller NSArray * arr = [navController viewControllers]; self.view = [arr objectAtIndex:0]; [arr objectAtIndex:0]; returns the correct view ( the bottombost viewcontroller's view in the nav stack ). My problem is these views never get displayed ie the views extracted from the navController never gets displayed. If i try to create a new view and insert all the subviews of a view, it gets displayed. eg : UIView * newView = [[UIView alloc] init]; for (UIView *subView in [arr objectAtIndex:0]) [newView addSubView:subView]; self.view = newView; The above piece of code works. But simply adding the view doesnt seem to work.. Can anyone explain the solution? Many thanks

• Django upload failing on request data read error

  Hi All, I've got a Django app that accepts uploads from jQuery uploadify, a jQ plugin that uses flash to upload files and give a progress bar. Files under about 150k work, but bigger files always fail and almost always at around 192k (that's 3 chunks) completed, sometimes at around 160k.   We have an open beta of an app which occasionally causes the heapspace to overflow. The JVM reacts by going on a permanent vacation. To analyze this I would like to peek into the memory at the point where it failed. Java does not want me to do this.
