• PHP Dev Tools (Eclipse Plugin) -- Installation Error... help?

  I have already installed WEb Tools, PyDev, and the default Eclipse installation for Ubuntu 10.04 (using "sudo apt-get install eclipe"). I'm now trying to install PHP dev tools plug-in for Eclipse, and I'm getting this error msg: Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency. • Problem reading from two separate InputStreams

  I'm building a Yammer client for Android in Scala and have encountered the following issue. • .Net MEF newbie question

  I am missing something basic when it comes to using MEF. I got it working using samples and a simple console app where everything is in the same assembly. Then I put some imports and exports in a separate project which contains various entities. I want to use these entities in an MS Test, but the composition is never actually done. When I move the composition stuff into the constructor of an entity in question it works, but that's obviously wrong. Does GetExecutingAssembly only "see" the test process? What am I missing re containers? I tried putting the container in a Using in the test without luck. The MEF docs are still very scant and I can't find a simple example of an application (or MS Test) which uses entities from a different project...

I have two entities: User Location But, I want the relationship between these two entities to be many-to-many (a user can be in many locations and a location can have many users). To do this I need to introduce an association class UserLocation. Is it correct to say I now have 3 entities? • Programmatically call webmethods in C#

  I'm trying to write a function that can call a webmethod from a webserive given the method's name and URL of the webservice. I've found some code on a blog that does this just fine except for one detail. It requires that the request XML be provided as well. The goal here is to get the request XML template from the webservice itself. I'm sure this is possible somehow because I can see both the request and response XML templates if I access a webservice's URL in my browser. • JSF in jetty-equinox, Cannot find Bean classes in other bundles!

  Hi I have problems running JSF in an OSGi environment. I am using jetty web container and equinox to provide the OSGi functionality. The structure of my application is as follows: The first bundle has all the JSF libs, web.xml and a config.xml. It looks as the following: bundle1 ----src/main/java -------de/package ----------Activator.java ----------JSFResolver.java ----src/main/resource ------ WebContent ----------META-INF -------------face-config.xml --------------web.xhtml ----------start.xhtml -----------include.xhtml ----libs (containing all JSF required Jars) The structure of the second bundle is as follows: bundle2 ---src/main/java ------de/package ----------Bean.java ---src/main/resource ------META-INF ---------face-config.xml ------WebContent ---------index.xhtml When running the application of equinox, the bundle1 is the main bundle where all the browser requests are sent to. In the second bundle, the 'index.xhtml' file can be retrieved the by first bundle upon request. The 'index.xhtml' in bundle 2 gets its values and properties from the 'Bean.java' in bundle 2. The problem comes when i request the 'index.xhtml', the Bean.java class is not found. I think this is because the class loader of bundle1 cannot find it, it has no knowledge of it. So i would like to ask if anyone knows how to solve this problem. If so please do assist me, i have tried all the possibilities i had.. Is it infact possible to have JSF run on multiple bundles using the same FaceletsContex? Can i be able to have seperate faces-config.xml files in each bundle, which can all be connected other faces-config.xml in other bundles? Can anyone please provide me a solution.   I have some big entities which are frequently accessed in same session. For example, in my application there is a reporting page which consist of dynamically generated chart images. For each chart image on page, client makes requests to corresponding controller and the controller generates images using some entities. I can either use asp.net's session dictionary for "caching" those entities or rely on nhibernate's second level cache support with using cached queries for example. What is your opinion? By the way I will use shared hosting, is second level cache hosting friendly? Thanks.

  The selector expression for LoadProperty must be a MemberAccess for the property. I'm converting some C# to VB, this is the C# line: entities.LoadProperty((MyType)MyTargetObject, c => c.MyProperty); I convert it to VB like so: entities.LoadProperty(DirectCast(MyTargetObject, MyType), Function(c) c.MyProperty) However I get the error above. I don't understand what the code is doing, or anything at all, I am simply converting it line by line into Visual Basic. When I run the project, the error I get is the one above. All I can see is that Entities is a class that inherits ObjectContext, which might mean something. Any help would be soooo good because I am stressing out big time. Thanks.

  I'm a fairly experienced programmer getting my head around PHP and Ajax for the first time, and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to incorperate object oriented PHP into my ajax webapp. I have an admin page (admin.php) that will load and write information (info.xml) from an XML file depending on the users selection of a form on the admin page. I have decided to use an object (ContentManager.php) to manage the loading and writing of the XML file to disk, i.e : class ContentManager{ var $xml_attribute_1 ... function __construct(){ //load the xml file from disk and save its contents into variables $xml_attribute = simplexml_load_file(/path/to/xml) } function get_xml_contents(){ return xml_attribute; } function write_xml($contents_{ } function print_xml(){ } } I create the ContentManager object in admin.php like so <?php include '../includes/CompetitionManager.php'; $cm = new CompetitionManager() ?> <script> ...all my jquery </script> <html> ... all my form elements </html> So now I want to use AJAX to allow the user to retrieve information from the XML file via the ContentManger app using an interface (ajax_handler.php) like so <?php if(_POST[]=="get_a"){ }else if() } ... ?> I understand how this would work if I wasn't using objects, i.e. the hander php file would do a certain action depending on a variable in the .post request, but with my setup, I can't see how I can get a reference to the ContentManager object I have created in admin.php in the ajax_handler.php file? Maybe my understanding of php object scope is flawed. Anyway, if anyone can make sense of what I'm trying to do, I would appreciate some help!

• Extending spring based app

  I have a spring-based Web Service. I now want to build a sort of plugin for it that extends it with beans. What I have now in web.xml is: <context-param> <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name> <param-value>/WEB-INF/classes/*-configuration.xml</param-value> </context-param> My core app has main-configuration.xml which declares its beans. My plugin app has plugin-configuration.xml which declares additional beans. Now when I deploy, my build deploys plugin.jar into /WEB-INF/lib/ and copies plugin-configuration.xml into /WEB-INF/classes/ all under main.war. This is all fine (although I think there could be a better solution), but when I develop the plugin, I don't want to have two projects in Eclipse with dependencies. I wish to have main.jar that I include as a library. However, web.xml from main.jar isn't automatically discovered. How can I do this? Bean injection? Bean discovery of some sort? Something else? Note: I expect to have multiple different plugins in production, but development of each of them will be against pure main.jar Thank you.

• App engine datastore - query on Enum fields.

  I am using GAE(Java) with JDO for persistence. I have an entity with a Enum field which is marked as @Persistent and gets saved correctly into the datastore (As observed from the Datastore viewer in Development Console). But when I query these entities putting a filter based on the Enum value, it is always returning me all the entities whatever value I specify for the enum field. I know GAE java supports enums being persisted just like basic datatypes. But does it also allow retrieving/querying based on them? Google search could not point me to any such example code. Details: I have printed the Query just before being executed. So in two cases the query looks like - SELECT FROM com.xxx.yyy.User WHERE role == super ORDER BY key desc RANGE 0,50 SELECT FROM com.xxx.yyy.User WHERE role == admin ORDER BY key desc RANGE 0,50 Both above queries return me all the User entities from datastore in spite of datastore viewer showing some Users are of type 'admin' and some are of type 'super'.

  Hello, I have created a custom data grid control. I dragged it on windows form and set its properties like column and all & ran the project. It built successfully and I am able to view the grid control on the form. Now if i try to view that form in designer, I am getting following error.. • How to finish a broken data upload to the production Google App Engine server?

  I was uploading the data to App Engine (not dev server) through loader class and remote api, and I hit the quota in the middle of a CSV file. Based on logs and progress sqllite db, how can I select remaining portion of data to be uploaded? Going through tens of records to determine which was and which was not transfered, is not appealing task, so I look for some way to limit the number of record I need to check. • A simple WCF Service (POX) without complex serialization

  I'm a complete WCF novice. I'm trying to build a deploy a very, very simple IIS 7.0 hosted web service. For reasons outside of my control it must be WCF and not ASMX. It's a wrapper service for a pre-existing web application that simply does the following: 1) Receives a POST request with the request body XML-encapsulated form elements. Something like valuevalue. This is untyped XML and the XML is atomic (a form) and not a list of records/objects. 2) Add a couple of tags to the request XML and the invoke another HTTP-based service with a simple POST + bare XML -- this will actually be added by some internal SQL ops but that isn't the issue. 3) Receive the XML response from the 3rd party service and relay it as the response to the original calling client in Step 1. The clients (step 1) will be some sort of web-based scripting but could be anything .aspx, python, php, etc. I can't have SOAP and the usual WCF-based REST examples with their contracts and serialization have me confused. This seems like a very common and very simple problem conceptually. It would be easy to implement in code but IIS-hosted WCF is a requirement. Any pointers?

• Is using value converters to generate GUI-friendly strings a misuse of value converters?

  Currently, I use value converters to generate user-friendly strings for the GUI. As an example, I have a window that displays the number of available entities in the status bar. The Viewmodel simply has an int dependency property that the calling code can set, and then on the binding for the textbox that displays the number of entities, I specify the int dependency property and a value converter that changes "x" into "x entities available". My code is starting to become littered with these converters, and I have a large number of annoying resource declarations in my XAML, and yet I like them because all the GUI-specific string formatting is being isolated in the converters and the calling code doesn't have to worry about it. But still, I wonder if this is not the purpose that value converters were made for.

  Hi! I have put my project in tomcat_home/webapps/ directory. The structure is : project_name/WEB-INF/classes. in WEB-INF i have put my web.xml descriptor. The problem is that when i try to run the application, it doesn't find the files. The error is: The requested resource () is not available. • Relying on nhibernate's second level cache vs pushing objects into asp.net session

  I have some big entities which are frequently accessed in the same session. For example, in my application there is a reporting page which consist of dynamically generated chart images. For each chart image on this page, the client makes requests to corresponding controller and the controller generates images using some entities. I can either use asp.net's session dictionary for "caching" those entities or rely on nhibernate's second level cache support with using cached queries for example. What is your opinion? By the way I will use shared hosting, is nhibernate's second level cache hosting friendly? Thanks.

• Hibernate Lazy initialization exception problem with Gilead in GWT 2.0 integration

  Hello, I use GWT 2.0 as UI layer on my project. On server side, I use Hibernate. For example, this is 2 domains entities that I have : public class User { private Collection<Role> roles; @ManyToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch = FetchType.LAZY, mappedBy = "users", targetEntity = Role.class) public Collection<Role> getRoles() { return roles; } ... } public class Role { private Collection<User> users; @ManyToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch = FetchType.LAZY, targetEntity = User.class) public Collection<User> getUsers() { return users; } ... } On my DAO layer, I use UserDAO that extends HibernateDAOSupport from Spring. UserDAO has getAll method to return all of Users. And on my DAO service, I use UserService that uses userDAO to getAll of Users. So, when I get all of Users from UsersService, Users entities returned are detached from Hibernate session. For that reason, I don't want to use getRoles() method on Users instance that I get from my service. What I want is just to transfer my list of Users thanks to a RPC Service to be able to use others informations of Users in client side with GWT. Thus, my main problem is to be able to convert PersistentBag in Users.roles in simple List to be able to transfer via RPC the Users. To do that, I have seen that Gilead Framework could be a solution. In order to use Gilead, I have changed my domains entities. Now, they extend net.sf.gilead.pojo.gwt.LightEntity and they respect JavaBean specification. On server, I expose my services via RPC thanks to GwtRpcSpring framework (http://code.google.com/p/gwtrpc-spring/). This framework has an advice that makes easier Gilead integration.
