• Weird in my UIImagePickerController with camera

  Hi everyone: I met a problem on using camera by scratch on iphone. Other people's code just run fine on my 3GS. But my code doesn't. When I implemented a UIViewController controller, and I add the following code in viewdidload: UIImagePickerController *picker = [UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; picker.source = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; picker.delegate = self; //Previously added all the delegate properly [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; Nothing comes out. I checked in the debugger, it shows that the picker is allocated, but here is the major difference between my and success one. picker._imagepickerflag.visible = 0; //others show 1; picker.UINavigationController._containerView: 0x0 ; // others have value. Can anyone help me on this, is there something wrong? Thank you.

I just wanted to keep the same format of the original String date and make it into a Date object. I'm using Netbeans 6.8 Mac version.

• Reading email address from contacts fails with weird memory issue - Solved

  Hi all, I'm stumped. I'm trying to get a list of all the email address a person has. I'm using the ABPeoplePickerNavigationController to select the person, which all seems fine. I'm setting my ABRecordRef personDealingWith; from the person argument to - (BOOL)peoplePickerNavigationController:(ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *)peoplePicker shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson:(ABRecordRef)person property:(ABPropertyID)property identifier:(ABMultiValueIdentifier)identifier { and everything seems fine up till this point. The first time the following code executes, all is well. When subsequently run, I can get issues. First, the code: // following line seems to make the difference (issue 1) // NSLog(@"%d", ABMultiValueGetCount(ABRecordCopyValue(personDealingWith, kABPersonEmailProperty))); // construct array of emails ABMultiValueRef multi = ABRecordCopyValue(personDealingWith, kABPersonEmailProperty); CFIndex emailCount = ABMultiValueGetCount(multi); if (emailCount > 0) { // collect all emails in array for (CFIndex i = 0; i < emailCount; i++) { CFStringRef emailRef = ABMultiValueCopyValueAtIndex(multi, i); [emailArray addObject:(NSString *)emailRef]; CFRelease(emailRef); } } // following line also matters (issue 2) CFRelease(multi); If compiled as written, the are no errors or static analysis problems. This crashes with a *** -[Not A Type retain]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x4e9dc60 error. But wait, there's more! I can fix it in either of two ways. Firstly, I can uncomment the NSLog at the top of the function. I get a leak from the NSLog's ABRecordCopyValue every time through, but the code seems to run fine. Also, I can comment out the CFRelease(multi); at the end, which does exactly the same thing. Static compilation errors, but running code. So without a leak, this function crashes. To prevent a crash, I need to haemorrhage memory. Neither is a great solution. Can anyone point out what's going on? Solution: It turned out that I wasn't storing the ABRecordRef personDealingWith var correctly. I'm still not sure how to do that properly, but instead of having the functionality in another routine (performed later), I'm now doing the grunt-work in the delegate method, and using the derived results at my leisure. • Weird switch behavior in .NET 4

  I have a problem understanding what's causes the compilation error in the code below: static class Program { static void Main() { dynamic x = ""; var test = foo(x); if (test == "test") { Console.WriteLine(test); } switch (test) { case "test": Console.WriteLine(test); break; } } private static string foo(object item) { return "bar"; } } The error I get is in switch (test) line: A switch expression or case label must be a bool, char, string, integral, enum, or corresponding nullable type. Intellisence shows me that foo operation will be resolved on runtime, which is fine because I'm using a dynamic type as a param. However I don't understand how if condition compiles fine when switch doesn't. Code above is just simplified version of what I have in my application (VSTO) which appeared after migrating the app from VSTO3 to VSTO4 when one method in VSTO was changed to return dynamic type values instead of object. Can anyone give me an explanation what's the problem. I know how to resolve it but I'd like to understand what's happening.

• Weird URL parse issue. (Android)

  I am attempting to parse in a URL to a KML file from maps.google.com. When I try and use this link: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=112748174025829638330.000483ad6315714cc941d&z=13&output=kml` I am unable to overlay this KML file on my MapView. If I were to take the KML file that I get from following this link and upload it to my Dropbox it will work just fine. I think there may be something about the URL from Google that it doesn't like? Link from dropbox: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1037184/Blue_original.kml Also it would be better if we could just save these KML files locally and pass them in the same way but I can't figure out a way to do this. Here is the code I am using: Intent mapIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW); Uri uri1 = Uri.parse("geo:0,0?q=http://code.google.com/apis/kml/ documentation/KML_Samples.kml"); mapIntent.setData(uri1); startActivity(Intent.createChooser(mapIntent, "Test")); The URL used in this example also works. So to recap: I am curious as to why some URLs work and others don't. Is there a way to place this KML file locally on the device and pass it to a Uri object? Any other suggestions? Thanks, Rob

• Weird Issues with WPMU I Can't Figure Out

  I know I should post this on the WPMU forum, but no one writes me back and I'm just trying to find a larger audience hoping you have run into this issue as well. I have built a WPMU site for a client, and I am able to upload media into the Media Library and within a Post or Page perfectly. I thought my job was finished, yet the client can't upload any media at all. I'm located in Kentucky, they are located in New England (if that even matters). I had the client record their process of uploading as I thought they were simply not following my instructions for uploading, yet they are doing everything correctly. When uploading a file it goes through the process of allowing them to select a file and it says it uploads it, yet when it is finished uploading nothing is in the Media Library or in the Post. • Weird disappearing dropdowns in Opera 10.51 using jQuery fadeIn and HoverIntent

  Take a look at www.sensenich.com in Opera. I'm not sure if this is specific to my version but Opera seems to do a number on the dropdowns from the top navigation menu. For some reason the li in the ul .subhead become transparent. Also if you hover over .subhead it immediately disappears. This behavior only seems to exist in Opera, otherwise the menu works great in IE6,7,8, Firefox 3.5+, Safari and Chrome. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  I'm trying to figure how a function I've been given works -- or rather doesn't work. The problematic areas include array notation like this: $small[$end[$i]{0}] I think the idea is to append "0" to the value of $end[$i] and use that for the index of $small. But it doesn't work in PHP5.3. Is this a deprecated syntax and is it trying to do what I think it is?

• PHP behaves weird, mixing up HTML markup.

  Thanks for looking on this problem. I have a page that is totally valid page, and there is a PHP loop that brings in a <li> for each entry of the table. When i check this page locally it looks 100% OK, but when veiwing the page online the left side bar (which creates this markup is broken randomly mixing <div>'s and <li>'s and i have no clue what the problem is. • A very weird problem with texbox control in .net

  Well i know textbox is a very simple user control, perhaps the first input control ever made. I have been facing a very frustrating problem with this simple control. I programatically add a textbox in my user control. From ui i am able to edit it like a normal textbox. however, i am not able to read the user inputed value in the program. my program all the time sees the old value with which my text box was initialized. i textchange event getting triggered but the value never gets updated. This seemingly looks to be some innocuous bug in the code, but the program is very simple and it does not seem to be having any bug. Any guidelines on this issue?

• Weird Facebooker Plugin & Pushion Passenger ModRails Production Error

  I have an application (Rails 2.3.5) that I'm deploying to production Linux/Apache server using the latest Phushion Passenger/Apache Module 2.2.11 version. After deploying my original application, it returns a 500 error with no logging to production log. So I created a minimal test rails application, with some active record calls to the database to print out a list of objects to the home controller/my index page. I also cleared out all plugins. That works fine in the production environment. Then I one by one introduced each plugin that I'm using one at a time. Every plugin works fine EXCEPT facebooker. Every time I load the facebooker plugin into my app/vendor/plugins directory (via script git etc) my test application break (500 error - no error logging). Everytime I remove the facebooker plugin my test application works. Has anyone seen this before/ have any solutions? I saw this solution but didn't see it in the facebooker code.

  I have a web server running Windows Server 2008 with IIS7. I have a bunch of websites which are all bound to the same IP address, but with different host header values. Most of the host headers are something like www.sitename.com. I also have a corresponding website entry for each which listens for the host "sitename.com" and does a redirect to "www.sitename.com" within IIS7 (to cater for non-www requests). Now this is all pretty straight forward, but I've noticed the when setting up the Http Redirection, some wierd things happen: Firstly, the "redirect" website entries must be pointed at a different physical directory than the site it's trying to redirect to, otherwise the redirection settings get set for both sites at once. Secondly, sometimes whilst setting up Http Redirection on an individual site, Http Redirection gets set at a server level, and all sites start redirecting to that one URL. How does this happen? Under what circumstances could setting Http Redirection on an individual site affect all sites? This is scary!!!

• Getting really weird long Contact Group names

  When looking at the Contact Groups on Google Contacts or in the People application of my HTC Legend phone, I get the groups names ok eg: Friends, Family, VIP, Favorite etc... • Reading email address from contacts fails with weird memory issue

  Hi all, I'm stumped. I'm trying to get a list of all the email address a person has. I'm using the ABPeoplePickerNavigationController to select the person, which all seems fine. I'm setting my ABRecordRef personDealingWith; from the person argument to - (BOOL)peoplePickerNavigationController:(ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *)peoplePicker shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson:(ABRecordRef)person property:(ABPropertyID)property identifier:(ABMultiValueIdentifier)identifier { and everything seems fine up till this point. The first time the following code executes, all is well. When subsequently run, I can get issues. This crashes with a *** -[Not A Type retain]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x4e9dc60 error. But wait, there's more! I can fix it in either of two ways. Firstly, I can uncomment the NSLog at the top of the function. I get a leak from the NSLog's ABRecordCopyValue every time through, but the code seems to run fine. Also, I can comment out the CFRelease(multi); at the end, which does exactly the same thing. Static compilation errors, but running code. So without a leak, this function crashes. To prevent a crash, I need to haemorrhage memory. Neither is a great solution. Can anyone point out what's going on?

  Our globalization mechanism stores error messages in a SQL 2005 DB. Some of the error messages are used as subjects on email messages sent to the development team. • Weird Scrolling Issue Using UITableView

  I am a working UINavigationController pushing two different UITableViews on and off the stack. All of my functionality is working correctly except scrolling. When either table is scrolled above the top row, or below the bottom row, it stays there exposing the margin above/below the table. I am looking for the table to "bounce" back so that only the table is visible and not the white space area beyond - just like any other iPhone app. One of my UITableViews is being loaded by NIB and the other is being created programatically - both of which have the exact same result. I have tried all the bounce and scrolling settings in the Nib, but nothing seems to work. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Please let me know if I can be more specific in detailing my problem. Thanks, -Scott

• Weird behavior of std::vector

  I have a class like this: class OBJ{...}; class A { public: vector<OBJ> v; A(int SZ){v.clear(); v.reserve(SZ);} }; A *a = new A(123); OBJ something; a->v.push_back(something); This is a simplified version of my code. The problem is in debug mode it works perfect. But in release mode it crashes at "push_back" line. (with all optimization flags OFF) I debugged it in release mode and the problem is in the constructor of A. the size of the vector is something really big with dummy values and when I clear it, it doesn't change... But if I remove ?action=something, I get all the data. Am I doing something wrong?
