But when run in a debugger, it takes over 8 seconds. Pausing the debugger reveals that it is in the middle of destroying all those vectors. WTF? Note - Visual Studio 2008 SP1, Core 2 Duo 6700 CPU with 2GB of RAM. Added: To clarify, no, I'm not confusing Debug and Release builds. These results are on one and the same .exe, without even any recompiling inbetween. In fact, switching between Debug and Release builds changes nothing.

• mount not working properly on Cygwin

  I have WinXP box and Cygwin installed on it. There are many network drive mapped on windows. when I execute mount command on windows (which uses the same mount executable as Cygwin) a get list of network mapped drives. But same when I do through Cygwin, I see only C: is mapped. On Windows command prompt. • Query gives an unsorted result set when run from stored procedure using CTE

  I am trying to create a paging query using CTE. It works fine when I execute it from Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Query Editor. And the result set is perfectly sorted as I want. But when I modify it for a stored procedure it gives me a unsorted result and I don't have any clue why.   I'm writing some JDBC code which calls a Oracle 11g PL/SQL procdedure which has a Custom Object return type. Whenever I try an register my return types, I get either ORA-03115 or PLS-00306 as an error when the statement is executed depending on the type I set. • WPF, C# - Making Intellisense/Autocomplete list, fastest way to filter list of strings

  Hello everyone, I'm writing an Intellisense/Autocomplete like the one you find in Visual Studio. It's all fine up until when the list contains probably 2000+ items. I'm using a simple LINQ statement for doing the filtering: var filterCollection = from s in listCollection where s.FilterValue.IndexOf(currentWord, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase) >= 0 orderby s.FilterValue select s; I then assign this collection to a WPF Listbox's ItemSource, and that's the end of it, works fine. Noting that, the Listbox is also virtualised as well, so there will only be at most 7-8 visual elements in memory and in the visual tree. However the caveat right now is that, when the user types extremely fast in the richtextbox, and on every key up I execute the filtering + binding, there's this semi-race condition, or out of sync filtering, like the first key stroke's filtering could still be doing it's filtering or binding work, while the fourth key stroke is also doing the same. I know I could put in a delay before applying the filter, but I'm trying to achieve a seamless filtering much like the one in Visual Studio. I'm not sure where my problem exactly lies, so I'm also attributing it to IndexOf's string operation, or perhaps my list of string's could be optimised in some kind of index, that could speed up searching. Any suggestions of code samples are much welcomed. Thanks.

• Optimize GROUP BY&ORDER BY query

  I have a web page where users upload&watch videos. Last week I asked what is the best way to track video views so that I could display the most viewed videos this week (videos from all dates). Now I need some help optimizing a query with which I get the videos from the database. The relevant tables are this: video (~239371 rows) VID(int), UID(int), title(varchar), status(enum), type(varchar), is_duplicate(enum), is_adult(enum), channel_id(tinyint) signup (~115440 rows) UID(int), username(varchar) videos_views (~359202 rows after 6 days of collecting data, so this table will grow rapidly) videos_id(int), views_date(date), num_of_views(int) The table video holds the videos, signup hodls users and videos_views holds data about video views (each video can have one row per day in that table). I have this query that does the trick, but takes ~10s to execute, and I imagine this will only get worse over time as the videos_views table grows in size.   Hello .. I am new to java and also cygwin . I do not have in detailed knowledge of both . I need some help.. I simple steps i will try to explain my problem. 1) I am working on tinyOS . its open source OS , used for wireless sensor networks. It provides java libraries to work on communication (PC to sensor) 2) I am working on windows xp environment through cigwin. 3) I am developing an application . THis application requires one java interface called "Serial Forwarder" , which is readily available in libraries provided. Previously i used to start this interface manually (by entering command *"java net.tinyos.sf.SerialForwarder ")*and then my application which uses this interface. But now i want to make my application independent . User need know about this background cygwin commands . 4) So in my java application i used "Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "java net.tinyos.sf.SerialForwarder)" . 5) This i neither giving any error nor starting the interface. Am I going on right way ? When i am using runtime execute command , how can i make sure that this command is called through cigwin interface ? Also .. if i want to write .bat file .. i which i can give commands which will be executed .. how can i make sure that those commands are given through cigwin .. and not through cmd.exe .. Please help . me .

• Mysql issue with decimal

  Hello, I have two fields - amount (decimal (11, 2)) - gift_amount (decimal (11, 2)) When I do an update on either for a value equal to or below 999.99, it saves correctly. However, if I go over that, then it drops the value right back to down 1 - 10. Is this a known issue or am I going wrong using decimal? • I can't get datepicker to work

  Hi, I need a field that displays the datepicker. I followed the example given by the JQuery UI documentation and haven't managed to get it to work. • Hudson fails to use unix user/group to do authentication

  I'm trying to use unix user/group database as security realm of hudson. The linux server is using NIS for user management. My account could login the hudson server via ssh. And the hudson server is running by user 'hudson' that is also a member of group 'shadow', so hudson could read /etc/shadow. And I tested the configuration using 'test' button, hudson tells me it works well. But I can't use my unix account and password to login the hudson sever. • Where does django look for sqlite3 installation/libraries?

  Am having a bit of a problem making my django application run in SUSE linux 9. I have Python2.5 installed well, Django 1.0 installed well. Am able to execute django command django-admin startproject fine But when i run the runserver command i get the error below. i have a folder with sqlite3, i can go in there and actually run the sqlite3* application, now am wondering where does Django look for the sqlite libraries? and how can i fix this?   I am writing a web application that grabs the http response headers from multiple sites (with RollingCurl.php) then stores it in an array and at the end outputs it in json format. Since some sites do redirects to new locations, $info (array) in “request_callback” function always has an url ($info[‘url’]) where the requested url was redirect.to, and it’s quite expected. • Servlet requests are executed sequentially for no apparent reason in Glassfish v3

  Hi, I'm using Glassfish 3 Web profile and can't get http workers to execute concurrently requests on a servlet. This is how i observed the problem. I've made a very simple servlet, that writes the current thread name to the standard output and sleep for 10 seconds : protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { System.out.println(Thread.currentThread().getName()); try { Thread.sleep(10000); // 10 sec } catch (InterruptedException ex) {} } } And when i'm running several simultaneous requests, I clearly see in the logs that the requests are sequentially executed (one trace every 10 seconds). INFO: http-thread-pool-8080-(2) (10 seconds later...) INFO: http-thread-pool-8080-(1) (10 seconds later...) INFO: http-thread-pool-8080-(2) etc. All my GF settings are untouched - it's the out-of-the-box config (the default thread pool is 2 threads min, 5 max if I recall properly). ...I really don't understand why the sleep() block all the others worker threads. • Can FAXCOMEXLib and Windows Fax Service send a color fax?

  We are in the process of testing different options for sending faxes from within our C# code (receiving faxes is not necessary). One of those options is to use FAXCOMEXLib. Without surprise, I've had pretty good success sending out black & white faxes with FAXCOMExLib. But we also have a requirement to support sending color faxes. So I execute the following code (just a snippet): IFaxDocument oFaxDoc = new FaxDocumentClass(); oFaxDoc.Body = @"C:\Test\color_image.jpg"; oFaxDoc.ConnectedSubmit(m_oFaxServer); The image is 24bit color, 1728x2304, 204x196 dpi. For the most part, this process works (with a couple of small quirks) and the fax shows up in my "Windows Fax and Scan" outbox (I'm on Vista). The problem is the image has been dithered to a 1bit black & white image. I assume that what I see in "Windows Fax and Scan" is what is actually transmitted. So is there a way to send a color fax using this technology? Are we missing a configuration option somewhere to make it work?

  i'm trying to trap a "timeout expired" error from ADO. When a timeout happens, ADO returns: Number: 0x80040E31 (DB_E_ABORTLIMITREACHED in oledberr.h) SQLState: HYT00 NativeError: 0 The NativeError of zero makes sense, since the timeout is not a function of the database engine (i.e. SQL Server), but of ADO's internal timeout mechanism. The Number (i.e. the COM hresult) looks useful, but the definition of DB_E_ABORTLIMITREACHED in oledberr.h says: Execution stopped because a resource limit was reached. No results were returned. This error could apply to things besides "timeout expired" (some potentially server-side), such as a governor that limits: CPU usage I/O reads/writes network bandwidth and stops a query. The final useful piece is SQLState, which is a database-independent error code system. Unfortunately the only reference for SQLState error codes i can find have no mention of HYT00. What to do? What do do? Note: i can't trust 0x80040E31 (DB_E_ABORTLIMITREACHED) to mean "timeout expired", anymore than i could trust 0x80004005 (E_UNSPECIFIED_ERROR) to mean "Transaction was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim". My pseudo-question becomes: does anyone have documentation on what the SQLState "HYT000" means? And my real question still remains: How can i specifically trap an ADO timeout expired exception thrown by ADO? Gotta love the questions where the developer is trying to "do the right thing", but nobody knows how to do the right thing. Also gotta love how googling for DB_E_ABORTLIMITREACHED and this question is #9, with MSDN nowhere to be found.   Hi All, I have a maintenance plan that looks like this... Client 1 Import Data (Success) -> Process Data (Success) -> Post Process (Completion) -> Next Client Client 2 Import Data (Success) -> Process Data (Success) -> Post Process (Completion) -> Next Client Client N ... Import Data and Process Data are calling jobs and Post Process is an Execute Sql task. If Import Data or Process Data Fail, it goes to the next client Import Data... Both Import Data and Process Data are jobs that contain SSIS packages that are using the built-in SQL logging provider. My expectation with the configuration as it stands is: Client 1 Import Data Runs: Failure - Client 2 Import Data | Success Process Data Process Data Runs: Failure - Client 2 Import Data | Success Post Process Post Process Runs: Completion - Success or Failure - Next Client Import Data This isn't what I'm seeing in my logs though... I see several Client Import Data SSIS log entries, then several Post Process log entries, then back to Client Import Data! Arg!! What am I doing wrong? I didn't think the "success" piece of Client 1 Import Data would kick off until it... well... succeeded aka finished! The logs seem to indicate otherwise though... I really need these tasks to be consecutive not concurrent. Is this possible? Thanks!

• Suppress indentation after environment in LaTeX

  I'm trying to create a new environment in my LaTeX document where indentation in the next paragraph following the environment is suppressed. I have been told (TeXbook and LaTeX source) that by setting \everypar to {\setbox0\lastbox}, the TeX typesetter will execute this at the beginning of the next paragraph and thus remove the indentation: \everypar{\setbox0\lastbox} So this is what I do, but to no effect (following paragraph is still indented): \newenvironment{example} {\begin{list} {} {\setlength\leftmargin{2em}}} {\end{list}\everypar{\setbox0\lastbox}} I have studied LaTeX's internals as well as I could manage. It seems that the \end routine says \endgroup and \par at some point, which may be the reason LaTeX ignores my \everypar setting. \global doesn't help either. I know about \noindent but want to do this automatically. Example document fragment: This is paragraph text. This is paragraph text, too. \begin{example} \item This is the first item in the list. \item This is the second item in the list. \end{example} This is more paragraph text. • PDO empy result from SELECT when using AND

  Hello, I've come upon a rather interesting thing, which I can't seem to figure out myself. Everytime when executing a SQL statement which contains a '... AND ...' the result is empty. '<br>'); $dbh = new PDO($dsn, $user, $password); $sql = 'SELECT * FROM user WHERE email = :email AND wachtwoord= :wachtwoord'; $stmt = $dbh->prepare($sql); $stmt->bindParam(:email,$email,PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindParam(:wachtwoord,$wachtwoord,PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->execute(); while($row = $stmt->fetchObject()) { echo($row-email . ',' . $row-wachtwoord); $user[] = array( 'email' = $row-email, 'wachtwoord' = $row-wachtwoord ); } The first echo displays the correct values, however the line with echo($row->email . ',' . $row->wachtwoord); is never reached. A few things I want to add: 1) I am connected to the database since other queries work, only the ones where I add an 'AND' after my 'WHERE's fail. 2) Working with the while works perfectly with queries that do not contain '... AND ...' 3) Error reporting is on, PDO gives no exceptions on my query (or anything else) 4) Executing the query directly on the database does give what I want: SELECT * FROM user WHERE email = '[email protected]' AND wachtwoord = 'jurgen' I can stare at it all day long again (which I already did once, but I managed to work around the 'AND'), but maybe one of you can give me a helping hand. So I have a "starting" state that uses CallExternalMethodActivity to call a "BeginExecuteNonQuery" function on an class decorated with ExternalDataExchangeAttribute. After that it uses a SetStateActivity to change to an "ending" state. The "ending" state uses a HandleExternalEventActivity to listen to a "EndExecuteNonQuery" event. I can step through the local service, into the "BeginExecuteNonQuery" function. • How to run R through PHP with exec?

  I am going to ask something, that I know that it has been asked already some times. But since, all of the past posts are quite old and none of them answer my problem..I try again. I am completely new in R language and relative new in php. What I want to do is to use the exec() function from php in order to execute a R script. Most of the people here will start talking about rapache, rserve and I don't know what else..but since I am not familiar with all these technologies, I prefer just using exec. The code I will show here is working just fine when I run it with Rscript from the terminal. # R script png("temp.png") plot(5,5) dev.off() But when I try to run it either with Rscript or with R CMD BATCH from PHP, like this: echo exec("Rscript my_rscript.R"); //OR //echo exec("R CMD BATCH my_rscript.R"); I get nothing back. I have checked if exec() function is available and if it works. Everything is ok with this. I read also, that I might have to change the permissions of the webserver...but I don't know how to do this in mamp. I hope I am clear with my problem and someone can help. Thanks Dimitris
