  • How to actually use ZeroClipboard in jQuery?

    Hello I just can't get this thing. How is ZeroClipboard supposed to work? Why does it need to move the flash-element over the copied text? I've read this thing: http://code.google.com/p/zeroclipboard/wiki/Instructions Can someone provide me a short snippet, which makes it possible to copy a text in variable to users clipboard, when user clicks a link. Is this even possible? I don't care, if it doesn't work on all browsers (IE6 for example). I'm using jQuery. Martti Laine

    Hi, I'm trying to work out how to get a div (#tips) to appear when the user scrolls into the 2nd quarter of its containing div's height (#wrap), and then have it disappear when the user scrolls into the last quarter. So it would be like this: 1st quarter - #tips is hidden 2nd quarter - #tips is visible 3rd quarter - #tips is visible 4th quarter - #tips is hidden I'm almost completely new to jQuery but what I've got so far is this: function addKeyboardNavigation(){ // get the height of #wrap var $wrapHeight = $('#wrap').outerHeight() // get 1/4 of wrapHeight var $quarterwrapHeight = ($wrapHeight)/4 // get 3/4 of wrapHeight var $threequarterswrapHeight = 3*($wrapHeight) // check if we're over a quarter down the page if( $(window).scrollTop() > $quarterwrapHeight ){ // if we are show keyboardTips $("#tips").fadeIn("slow"); } } This is where I get confused.   • jsTree: How to create a new ID for the new added node?

    Hi, I can normally get the ID of the default tree nodes but my problem is onCreate then jsTree will add a new node but it doesn't have an ID. My question is how can I add an ID to the newly created tree node? What I'm thinking to do is adding the ID HTML attribute to the newly created tree node but how? I need to get the ID of all of the nodes because it will serve as a reference for the node's respective div storage.   • Jquery hover to only have effect for certain amount of time

    I'm trying to iterate through all the empty textboxes in a table and change its background colour. I'm using the following JQuery code: $("#btn2").click(function() { var emptyTextBoxes = $('input:text').filter(function() { return this.value == ""; }); emptyTextBoxes.each(function() { this.css('background-color', '#ffff00'); // $('#Col3Txtbx').css('background-color', '#ffff00'); }); }); This does not seem to refer to the textbox which seems strange to me. When I uncomment out the particular textbox, it does reset the background colour. Can someone explain to me what 'This' is referring to?

    I have an element: <select id="row" /> I want to append a string to the end of the id attribute, like this: <select id="row_1" /> The jQuery I am using to achieve this is (from within an each): $(this).attr('id',$(this).attr('id')+'_'+row_count); This looks ugly as sin, and whilst it works I want to know if there is a simpler solution. In this example, the ID prefix (e.g. row) is never constant, so I can't just do 'row_'+row_count. Cheers!

  • Supplying a callback to Jeditable

    Summary: When I try supplying a onsubmit or onreset callback to Jeditable, I get Object [function] has no method 'apply' errors. How I got here: I've been working on a rails plugin to supply Jeditable and jWYSIWYG for in-place WYSIWYG editing. Development is driven by a Rails project I'm working on which asks for specific functions. One of the options I added was the ability to trigger Jeditable's edit mode using a button instead of clicking on the editable text itself, following the pattern suggested in this answer. The next step, though, is to hide the button while in edit mode, and reveal it again when leaving edit mode. The hide is easy enough; I just added a line to the triggering function which sends .toggle() to the button. Reveal is trickier. I figure I need to .toggle() again on submit or cancel, and helpfully, Jeditable offers onsubmit and onreset callbacks. However, when I try using those callbacks, I get this Object [something] has no method 'apply' errors. What I'm trying: Because this is in the context of a Rails helper, the actual mechanics are a little more involved than this, but the upshot is that I'm trying to follow this pattern, handing Jeditable this in the args: "onsubmit":"showTrigger", and then including this script: function showTrigger(settings, original) { $(".edit_trigger[id='element_id']").toggle(); } However, on submitting changes or canceling an edit, I get the error Object showTrigger has no method 'apply' ...as described above. I also tried sending in a function directly as the "onsubmit" argument (i.e. "onsubmit": "function(settings, original){$(\".edit_trigger[id='element_id']\").toggle();}" and then I just get Object function(settings, original){$(\".edit_trigger[id='element_id']\").toggle();} has no method 'apply' instead. There must be something wrong with how I'm handing in this callback. Any ideas? ETA: This answer suggests to me that somehow I'm providing a string to Jeditable when it expects a function instead. However, because I'm working within the context of a Rails helper, I'm not at all sure how to fix that - the "showTrigger" bit is set as a Ruby variable in the helper, and although window.showTrigger() is defined when the window is loaded, I don't know how to designate that function within a Ruby variable such that it will be recognized as a function at page load time.

I tried googling it but I wasn't able to find a good article with comparisons.     Hi Guys, Im trying to do a dialog box with jquery. In this dialog box Im going to have terms and conditions. The problem is that the dialog box is only displayed for the FIRST TIME.     Hi , I have my code working etc for the pagination plugin but I have a slight error. When I add a table above my table which works with the sorter and pagination the pagination does not work. I think it is because that the table above it is taking the all the features and not using them. So is there a way to define which table to use like using a ID ?     Hi there, am using jquery tablesorter plugin and in my "country" column i got special characters like this: Índia. The fact is that when i hit the header of the column to sort it, it puts my "Índia" at the end of the column. I guess the nav sees the Í instead of the real "I" with an accent. Any clue on how to make it work even with accents ?   • Can you restrict entering invalid keystrokes with jquery ui autocomplete combobox

    when using the jquery ui autocomplete combobox, i would thought there would be an option to force only valid key entry based on the list. Is there anyway to not allow invalid keys so you can only enter valid items in the list? also, is there a way to set a default value of the combobox. if my list has (csharp, java, python) i can start typing "abcds . ." and it lets me type it in. I want only valid entries to be allowed.

    Ok, I'm trying to use jQuery $.post with the PasteBin API to create a PasteBin page and grab the URL (which the API says it returns). Here is my code so far: $('#send_code').click(function(){ $.post('http://pastebin.com/api_public.php', { paste_name: $('#paste_name').val(), paste_code: $('#paste_code').val() }, function(data){ alert(data); }); } The above script creates the page just fine (I can find them on PasteBin). However, all that is returned is an empty string. I've tried using this same API with php and cURL, and I'm able to retrieve the URL just fine. Can anyone see if I'm doing something wrong? Thanks!

    TLDR How could I tell "page.html" which one of 3 or so cookies to look at when the cookie is set on the previous page? Currently: When a link is clicked save text of link to cookie When "page.html" is loaded get the value of the cookie Loads the getjson call as per value of the cookie. E.g: <a href="page.html">link1</a> -c1 <a href="page.html">link2</a> -c2 <a href="page.html">link3</a> -c3 See previous discussion here Now that is all good and well apart from the fact if I were to say open them in multiple tabs. It changes the cookie and correctly loads the right data. But if I were to refresh one of these tabs it will load the most recently open data rather than what it should be. So if I were to save a cookie as c1 with a value of link1 c2 with a value of link2 c3 with a value of link3 How could I tell "page.html" which cookie it should be looking at, therefore not breaking the back/forward/refresh buttons on the browser when multiple tabs are open?

I tried $.competency but it didn't work. I always get a "competency is undefined" error. I had to reinitialize the variable once again inside the callback. Is there a way to NOT reinitialize the variable inside the callback?
