  • SQLite user_version() expression

    - by ralf.w.
how can I get user_version into an expression (for SELECT or WHERE) ? I would also appreciate any clue to how to save ANY global variable in SQLite. Does anyone know of such an extension (dll) ? BTW: I know that PRAGMA user_version; gives me the right answer, but I cannot use that inside a WHERE-clause !

  • Globbing in `git checkout`

    - by yar
Is there any way to implement globbing in git checkout? It would be great to be able to use git checkout re* or even to have tab completion in the shell. I'm using zsh, but an answer that is shell independent would be great. Note: I realize that this is kind of a pipe dream, so... if I needed to implement this myself, must it be done in the shell language itself, or could it be done in, say, Ruby?

  • How initialize array of classes? (C++)

    - by Kra
Hello, I have this class constructor: Pairs (int Pos, char *Pre, char *Post, bool Attach = true); How can I initialize array of Pairs classes? I tried: Pairs Holder[3] = { {Input.find("as"), "Pre", "Post"}, {Input.find("as"), "Pre", "Post"}, {Input.find("as"), "Pre", "Post"} }; Apparently it's not working, I also tried to use () brackets instead of {} but compiler keeps moaning all the time. Sorry if it is lame question, I googled quite hard but wasn't able to find answer :/ Thanks.

  • Best approach for storing uploaded image

    - by Sunny
What are the advantages and disadvantages of storing an image as a blob in the database vs storing just the file name in the database. I'm using PHP(CodeIgniter) with MySQL. I know this question is subjective but a client asked me this question and I couldn't give a good answer.

  • FORTRAN: determine variable type

    - by tibbs
hello, GOOGLE has yet to find an answer for me, so here goes: In FORTRAN, is there a way to determine the TYPE of a variable? E.G., pass the variable type as an argument in a function, to then be able to call type-specific code with that fuction; eliminating the need to have seperate similar functions for each data type. thanks.

  • What do you consider a good API Documentation?

    - by Daniel
I have always liked the documentation on Java APIs, generally speaking, but I know some people consider them lacking. So I'm wondering, what do you consider a good example of API documentation? Please, include a link or an actual example in any answer. I want to have references that I (and others, of course) can use to improve our own documents.

  • How do you get the width of an element without a defined width?

    - by Moak
How would you find out the width of a element that is wrapped by 20 odd other elements, but the only fixed width I know is the main wrapper's which is 800px. All child elements are generally blocks, floating or not, with different paddings and margins. I don't really need the answer to a specific case, I'm just wondering if there are tools or tricks to quickly calculate such things. Thanks

  • Git: Ignoring certain commits when pushing

    - by int3
I'd like to have some modifications that are private to my fork. How do I go about doing this? There's a question here about pushing a single commit, and the answer is to cherry-pick the commits you want to push from a private branch and put them on the main branch. However, I would like something more along the lines of ignoring a certain commit when pushing.

  • Operating System Development

    - by j-t-s
Hi All I'm looking for any website(s) devoted and/or related to Operating System Development, and would love for you to kindly share any links you may have. I have searched myself, but keep winding up at the same old sites, and am wondering if there are others that just don't get noticed by the major search engines or something. I've put this as a community wiki, simply because I don't think it's very fair to judge an answer based on a single link. Thank you.

  • Can I redistribute the Microsoft T4 Engine with my product?

    - by Rammesses
I'm generating code dynamically, currently using String.Format and embedding placeholders - but reformatting the C# code for use as a template is a pain, and I think using a T4 template would be better. However, the code generation will be happening on a running system, so I need to know that I can safely and legally redistribute the Microsoft T4 Engine with my product. Anyone else done this? Or know the (legal) answer?

  • simple interview question

    - by calvin
Input integer array: a[8] = { a1, a2, a3, a4, b1, b2, b3, b4 } Output array: a[8] = { a1, b1, a2, b2, a3, b3, a4, b4 } Forget all corner cases, make sure your solution works for any int array of size 2n. You can use one or two temp variables for looping or anything, but you shouldn't use any temp arrays/stacks/queues etc to store entire array or part of array. I'm able to get answer in O(n*log n), but I'm looking for better solution.

  • Iterating over key/value pairs in a dict sorted by keys

    - by Helper Method
I have the following code, which just print the key/value pairs in a dict (the pairs are sorted by keys): for word, count in sorted(count_words(filename).items()): print word, count However, calling iteritems() instead of items() produces the same output for word, count in sorted(count_words(filename).iteritems()): print word, count Now, which one should I choose in this situation? I consulted the Python tutorial but it doesn't really answer my question.
