  • JQuery Ajax returned blank data

    - by kwokwai
    Hi all, I am learning how to use JQuery to help check data availability. I have written a function in a Controller for checking data input, and the URL is like this: http://www.mywebsite.com/controllers/action/avariable but the returned data was blank. <Script language="javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $(document).change(function(){ var usr = $("#data\\[User\\]\\[name\\]").val(); $.post{"http://www.mywebsite.com/controllers/action/", usr, function(msg){alert(msg);} } }); }); </Script> <div id="username"> <input type=text name="data[User][name]" id="data[User][name]"> </div> Here is the code of the Action: function action($data=null){ $this->autoRender = false; $result2=$this->__avail($udata); if($result2==1) {return "OK";} else {return "NOT";} }

  • jQuery Sortable Cannot Click After Sort Issue

    - by Johan
    I have a table that is being sorted by the TR tags, everything works fine except that I have to click twice on any item in the list after something has been moved for anything to respond, on links etc. Do I have to call some function after the list has been sorted to re-activate it so that I don't have to click twice on items?

  • simple jquery image change onclick failing

    - by ian
    I have a simple jQuery image switch that is failing. $('.heart_img').click(function() { var heart_type = $(this).attr('src'); //alert( heart_type ); if ( heart_type == 'images/unheart.png') { //alert('uheart'); $(this).attr('src','images/heart.png'); } else if ( heart_type == 'images/heart.png'); { $(this).attr('src','images/unheart.png'); } }); The alerts fire correctly when not commented out so and the images are in the correct place so I am not sure what the problem is.

  • Detect all changes to a <input type="text"> (immediately) using JQuery

    - by Dustin Boswell
    There are many ways the value of a <input type="text"> can change, including: keypresses copy/paste modified with JavaScript auto-completed by browser or a toolbar I want my JavaScript function to be called (with the current input value) any time it changes. And I want it to be called right away, not just when the input loses focus. I'm looking for the cleanest and most robust way to do this across all browsers (using jQuery preferably). Example use case: On the Twitter Signup page, the username field's value gets shown in the url "http://twitter/username" below it.

  • Connecting to TFS via ASP.NET, jQuery and Phonegap

    - by Tony D.
    I want to develop a mobile application that would allow the user the ability to run a suite of automated test cases housed in TFS. This is something I thought of this morning so it's all still very preliminary. But I'm curious as to what would be the best route for something like this? Or if it's even possible? Because the mobile devices from the users will vary from iphones to droids, I would probably want to incorporate something like Phonegap for it's cross platform capabilities. My initial thought was to develop in ASP.net/C# (which would be stored on a remote server), and have jQuery make calls to that server. Not sure if that would be the most appropriate way of handling this. I'm not too familiar with JSON but I have seen it as a suggestion on various sites to handle the returned data. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

  • How to use jquery .animate() to mock 'text-align:right'

    - by mrwienerdog
    I am building a very simple jquery menu. On hover, I have a menu on the right easing to the left margin of my menu container. This is easy, as the text is left aligned within said container. However, I also have a menu on the left, and because the links (left justified) are of differing length, the best I can do is adjust the padding to ease the text a uniform amount between links. Therefor, long link text goes to the right edge of the container, buy short text only makes it about half way. In reading about this, I have learned that you can not modify the text align property as it is non numeric. Is there any other way to do this? I of course tried to go with: $('#selector').css('text-align':'right') but that made the text jump to the right instead of ease. Is there any way to ensure all links ease to the rightmost margin of the container?

  • Iterating Through a jQuery Object Array

    - by DeltaFox
    I know this has been asked and answered a couple times already, but I'm still confused about how to reference the current object when iterating over a jQuery array. For example, the following code gives me the error "TypeError: genH3Array[i].next is not a function". What is the right way to reference the current array object? var genH3Array = $('#Generation_II').parent(); genH3Array.push($('#Generation_III').parent());; genH3Array.push($('#Generation_IV').parent()) $.each(genH3Array, function(i, value) { if(genH3Array[i].next().attr("align") == "center") { genH3Array[i].next().next().next().insertBefore(heading.next()) } genH3Array[i].next().next().insertBefore(heading.next()) genH3Array[i].next().insertBefore(heading.next()) })

  • jQuery - now: Creating an object and storing values in it to pass to an AJAX call

    - by Josh K
    I have an array: myarr = []; I'm filling it with some values: myarray['name'] = "Me!"; Now I want to transform that array into a set of Key = Value pairs. I though jQuery would do it automatically, but it doesn't seem to. $.ajax ({ type: "POST", dataType: "text", url: "myurl", data: myarr }); Is there a way to do this or something I'm doing wrong? I get no javascript errors, and no serverside errors other then no POST information at all. I need the request to be sent as a true POST request. I need to keep the php code simple because sometimes the login won't be an AJAX call. I'm now trying the following with an error unexepected token ':' myarr: { 'name':'me' } The question has now become: How do I initialize a new javascript object as "blank", how do I set up mappings, and how do I pass it in an AJAX call?

  • jQuery ajax() and cakePHP urls

    - by Pickledegg
    I'm trying to call the 'tariff' action of my 'countries' controller using jQuery ajax() and pass it a country name in the following format: /countries/tariff/countryname however, with the following code ( set to GET ), it is calling this with the get '?' added: /countries/tariff/?countryname $(document).ready(function(){ $('#CountriesIndexForm select').change(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "/countries/tariff/", data: escape($(this).val()), success: function(html){ $(this).parent().next('div').html(html); } }); }); }); I understand its because the type: is set to GET, but is there a fix for this?

But my button won't work properly. this is my current code: private Button[] b = new Button[]{new Button("a"),...,new Button("j")}; private int z=0; ... public void UpdateTabelGallery(JsArray str){ for(int i=0; i str.length(); i++){ b[i].setText(str.gettitle()); UpdateTabelGallery(str.get(i)); } } public void UpdateTabelGallery(GalleryData str){ Image img = new Image(); img.setUrl(str.getthumburl()); HTML himage= new HTML("a href="+str.geturl()+""+ img +"/a" + b[z] ); TabelGaleri.setWidget(y, x, himage); //is here th right place? b[z].addClickHandler(new ClickHandler(){ @Override public void onClick(ClickEvent event) { Window.alert("I wan to show the clicked button text" + b[z].getText()); } }); z++; } I'm still confuse where I should put my button handler.   • Javascript - Wait for function to return

    - by LoadData
    So, I am working on a project which requires me to call upon a function to get data from an external source. The issue I am having, I call upon the function - However the code after the function call is continuing before the function has returned a value. Here is the function - function getData() { var myVar; var xmlLoc = $.get("http://ec.urbentom.co.uk/StudentAppData.xml", function(data) { $xml = $(data); myVar = $xml; console.log(myVar); console.log(String($xml)); localStorage.setItem("Data", $xml); console.log(String(localStorage.getItem("Data"))); return myVar; }); return myVar; console.log("Does this continue"); } And here is where it is called upon - $(document).on("pageshow","#Information",function() { $xml = $(getData()); //Here is the function call console.log($xml); //However, it will instantly go to this line before 'getData' has returned a value. $xml.find('AllData').each(function() { $(this).find('item').each(function() { if ($(this).find('Category').text()=="Facilities") { console.log($(this).find('Title').text()); //Do stuff here } else if ($(this).find('Category').text()=="Contacts" || $(this).find('Category').text()=="Information") { console.log($(this).find('Title').text()); //Do stuff here too } }); $('#informationList').html(output).listview().listview("refresh"); console.log("Finished"); }); }); Right now, I'm unsure of why it is not working. My guess is that it is because I am calling a function within a function. Does anyone have any ideas on how this issue can be fixed?

  • JQuery if/else statement matching a wildcard css name

    - by Neokoenig
    Hi All, I'm trying to write an if/else statement in jQuery which can change an elements class by matching 'IN' or 'OUT' (in this case). I.e, I have several Divs with class='IN-something' OR class='OUT-something'. The below would work if I new the exact CSS class, but all I'll know is whether it contains 'IN' or 'OUT'. So like this, but works: if ($(jRow).hasClass('IN-*')) {jRow.attr( "class", "OUT-foo" );} else {jRow.attr( "class", "IN-foo");} Ideas? Thanks!

  • jQuery .each() with Array

    - by John Crain
    Basically, I am trying to gather the IDs of every element with a specific class and place those IDs into an array. I'm using jQuery 1.4.1 and have tried using .each(), but don't really understand it or how to pass the array out of the function. $('a#submitarray').click(function(){ var datearray = new Array(); $('.selected').each(function(){ datearray.push($(this).attr('id')); }); // AJAX code to send datearray to process.php file }); I'm sure I'm way off, as I'm pretty new at this, so any advice help would be awesome. Thanks!

  • Disallow typing of few of characters e.g.'<', '>' in all input textboxes using jquery

    - by Ismail
    How do I achieve this:- When user types character like 'abcd' and then '>'(an invalid character for my application), I want to set the text back to 'abcd'. Better if we can cancel the input itself as we do in winforms application. This should happen when user is typing and not on a click of button. I want this to be applied on all text boxes in my web page. This will be easy if the solution is jQuery based. May be something which will start like this. $("input[type='text']")
