• Solr DataImportHandler configuration

  I want to get data from mysql database with the help of DataImportHandler so i can create indexes. Now I've configured my Solr instance so that it works on Tomcat (the example admin page), but if I try to change the sorlconfig.xml file i'll get the error message. I'm working with Solr 3.6 So my configuration is: In solrconfig.xml i added: <dataDir>${solr.data.dir:/usr/share/tomcat7/solr2}</dataDir> to specify my working directory and then <requestHandler name="/dataimport" class="org.apache.solr.handler.dataimport.DataImportHandler"> <lst name="defaults"> <str name="config">/usr/share/tomcat7/solr2/conf/data-config.xml</str> </lst> </requestHandler> to specify new request handler. Theese two are my lib directives for DIH. Do i need to change them? <lib dir="../../dist/" regex="apache-solr-dataimporthandler-\d.*\.jar" /> <lib dir="../../contrib/dataimporthandler/lib/" regex=".*\.jar" /> I also created data-config.xml file and added following: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <dataConfig> <dataSource type="JdbcDataSource" driver="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/ethicsweb_experts" user="root" password=""/> <document> <entity name="experts" datasource="mysql" pk="mainid" query="SELECT experts.mainid as mainid FROM experts WHERE validRec = 'y'"> <field column="mainid" name="mainid"/> <field column="validRec" name="validRec"/> </entity> </document> I've coppied following jars to tomcat/lib folder (DIH jar files and mysql JDBC connector jar file) apache-solr-dataimporthandler-3.6.0.jar apache-solr-dataimporthandler-extras-3.6.0.jar mysql-connector-java-5.1.20-bin.jar Also in the schema.xml file i added folowing fields: <field name="mainid" type="int" indexed="true" stored="true" /> <field name="validRec" type="string" indexed="true" stored="true" /> <field name="recSource" type="string" indexed="true" stored="true" /> <uniqueKey>mainid</uniqueKey> But now when i try to acces: http://localhost:8080/solr2/ I get following output: HTTP Status 500 - Severe errors in solr configuration.   Background I use a Tornado-like server with support for long-polls. Each web pages a user clicks around to sets up a long poll to the server like this: $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: "/mylongpollurl/", dataType: 'application/json', success: function(json) { // I do stuff here }, error: function(xhr, errText, ex) { // If timeout I send a new long-poll request } }); Problem I will now rely on data that I get from Fiddler monitoring all requests made from my browser (FF at the moment). Page 1 is loaded and the long poll request is made, now idling at server side. I click a link to page 2 and that page is loaded and setting up a long poll request, BUT the long poll request from page 1 is still idling at server side (according to Fiddler). This means that I will stack all long poll calls when clicking around the page, thus end up with lots of active connections on the server (or are they maybe sharing connection?) My thoughts - As it's a Tornado-like server (using epoll) it can handle quite a lot of connections. But this fact is not to exploit in my opinion. What I mean is that I prefer not to have a timeout on the server for this case (were the client disappears). - I know those stand alone pages better uses a common head and only swap content via ajax calls but this design we use today was not my call... - The best way to solve this would probably be to have the connection reused (hard to pull off I think) or closed as soon as the browser leaves the page (you click to another page). • Calling WCF service with parameter using jQuery

  I'm trying to call a WCF web service hosted by IIS using jQuery. I can call it fine without any parameters, and I can also call it fine with a GET request that includes my parameter, but as soon as I try to send in the request via POST, the call is failing. The web service is currently nothing but: [OperationContract, WebInvoke] public ValidationResultSummary TestValidateOn( object day) { return null; } I've set the parameter to object, to make sure the issue isn't something with type coercion. With a breakpoint in the web service, I know the call without parameters as well as the GET call with param succeeds; in the latter the expected value is sent up. Calling code looks like: $.ajax({ // type: "GET", // url: "../Shared/Services/DomainServices.svc/TestValidateOn?day='12/Jan/2010'", type: "POST", url: "../Shared/Services/DomainServices.svc/TestValidateOn", // data: "{ }", --This works if object type param, calls with null data: "{'day': " + selectedDate + "}", // This fails miserably // data: "{'day': '" + selectedDate + "'}", --This also fails miserably contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(data) { displayResults(data.d); }, error: function(xmlHttpReq, status, errThrown) { displayError(xmlHttpReq, status, errThrown); } }); The POST call never reaches my breakpoint, and on the client, error 500 - "Internal Server Error" - is returned. Any help would be appreciated.

After importing the source into Netbeans, along with importing the following libraries: org.slf4j:slf4j-api:jar:1.6.1 org.apache.httpcomponents:httpclient:jar:4.3.2 org.apache.httpcomponents:httpcore:jar:4.3.1 org.json:json:jar:20131018 commons-codec:commons-codec:jar:1.9 junit:junit:jar:4.11 ch.qos.logback:logback-classic:jar:0.9.28 ch.qos.logback:logback-core:jar:0.9.28 I ran the example code from https://github.com/thiagolocatelli/parse4j Parse.initialize(APP_ID, APP_REST_API_ID); // I replaced these with mine ParseObject gameScore = new ParseObject("GameScore"); gameScore.put("score", 1337); gameScore.put("playerName", "Sean Plott"); gameScore.put("cheatMode", false); gameScore.save(); And I got that it was missing org.apache.commons.logging, so I downloaded that and imported it. While we are using the open-source version of Artifactory internally, we now want to put a file-based repository of our published artifacts (and their dependencies) on a separate machine that is publicly available. There are several ways how to do this, but none of them seems ideal: Use Maven Dependency plugin: if it is configured correctly and executed with the goal dependency:copy-dependencies for the release-module of our project, it creates a local repository structure that is fine, but this structure does not contain the meta-data.xml files, nor the hash-sums. Use Artifactory to export repo: AFAIK Artifactory only allows to export a repository as a whole. This would include the non-published modules from our project (which would then need to be deleted manually). Also, all dependencies are sitting in another repository, so this needs to be done twice, and many dependencies are not even required by a published artifact (only by artifacts that are still for internal use only). Nevertheless, this method would also include the meta-data.xml files and the hash-sums for all files. To set up an initial version of the repository, I used a mixture of both methods: I first created the Maven repository for all required dependencies via dependency:copy-dependencies and then wrote a script to cherry-pick the meta-data.xml files (etc.) from Artifactory. This is terribly cumbersome, isn't there a better way to solve this? Maybe there is another Maven 3 - plugin that I am unaware of, or some other command-line tool that does the job? I basically just need a simple way to create a Maven repository that contains all artifacts a given artifact depends on (and no more), and also contains all meta-data expected in a remote repository. • Asp.Net MVC2 RenderAction changes page mime type?

  It appears that calling Html.RenderAction in Asp.Net MVC2 apps can alter the mime type of the page if the child action's type is different than the parent action's. The code below (testing in MVC2 RTM), which seems sensible to me, will return a result of type application/json when calling Home/Index. Instead of dispylaying the page, the browser will barf and ask you if you want to download it. My question: Am I missing something? Is this a bug? • jQuery autocomplete - update options on dynamically created elements

  Background The user enters values into multiple inputs on the page. Think of entering a list of widgets for sale. The user would select the type of a widget from a drop down. Then enter the name of the Widget vendor, and then the actual name of the widget. These UI elements would all appear as one row. The user is able to click an "add another widget" link and a new row is created. The two input elements have autocomplete functionality attached to them using the DevBridge jQuery plugin. It suggests the name of the vendor and the name of the widget. I have recently wired up the logic to filter the name of the widget based on the name of the vendor you entered. This means setting the (custom) vendorName parameter when attaching the autocomplete plugin so it can be passed to the server side to retrieve the widget names for that vendor that match the name the user entered. To achieve this functionality I'm dynamically attaching the autocomplete functionality to the second element (the widget name text box) when it receives focus. Here is an example: $('.autocomplete-widget').live('focus', function () { $(this).autocomplete({ serviceUrl: '/something.ashx', params: { type: 'widget', vendorName: $(this).parent().prev().find('.autocomplete-vendor').val()} }); }); Problem At first glance, this looks to function quite well. However I started noticing some inconsistencies, and upon inspection, I found out that the call to the server is actually happening several times in some cases. Each time the widget name input element receives focus the autocomplete functionality is attached. And what I'm seeing is that the call to the server is made in proportion to how many times the input element has gained focus. I'd like to avoid making the call more than once, but retain the ability to attach (or update) the autocomplete functionality "on focus". I've tried to use the autocomplete 'setOptions' method but have only been able to get it to work with the static elements, not the dynamically created elements. Question Is there a way I can clear out the autocomplete functionality before I attach another one?

• Using oauth2_access_token to get connections in linkedIn

  I'm trying to get the connections in linkedIn using their API, but when I try to retrieve the connections I get a 401 unauthorized error. in the official documentation says You must use an access token to make an authenticated call on behalf of a user Make the API calls You can now use this access_token to make API calls on behalf of this user by appending "oauth2_access_token=access_token" at the end of the API call that you wish to make. The API call that I'm trying to do is the following Error -- http://api.linkedin.com/v1/people/~/connections:(id,headline,first-name,last-name)?format=json&oauth2_access_token=access_token I have tried to do it with the following endpoint without any problems. OK -- https://api.linkedin.com/v1/people/~:(id,first-name,last-name,formatted-name,date-of-birth,industry,email-address,location,headline,picture-urls::(original))?format=json&oauth2_access_token=access_token this list of endpoints for the connections API are described here http://developer.linkedin.com/documents/connections-api I just copied and pasted one endpoint from there, so the question is what's the problem with the endpoint for getting the connections? what am I missing? • jQuery Ajax call - Set variable value on success.

  Hey all, I have an application that I am writing that modifies data on a cached object in the server. The modifications are performed through an ajax call that basically updates properties of that object. When the user is done working, I have a basic 'Save Changes' button that allows them to Save the data and flush the cached object. In order to protect the user, I want to warn them if the try to navigate away from the page when modifications have been made to the server object if they have not saved. So, I created a web service method called IsInitialized that will return true or false based on whether or not changes have been saved. If they have not been saved, I want to prompt the user and give them a chance to cancel their navigation request. Here's my problem - although I have the calls working correctly, I can't seem to get the ajax success call to set the variable value on its callback function. • In Asp.Net MVC 2 is there a better way to return 401 status codes without getting an auth redirect

  I have a portion of my site that has a lightweight xml/json REST API. Most of my site is behind forms auth but only some of my API actions require authentication. I have a custom AuthorizeAttribute for my API that I use to check for certain permissions and when it fails it results in a 401. All is good, except since I'm using forms auth, Asp.net conveniently converts that into a 302 redirect to my login page. I've seen some previous questions that seem a bit hackish to either return a 403 instead or to put some logic in the global.asax protected void Application_EndRequest() that will essentially convert 302 to 401 where it meets whatever criteria. Previous Question Previous Question 2 What I'm doing now is sort of like one of the questions, but instead of checking the Application_EndRequest() for a 302 I make my authorize attribute return 666 which indicates to me that I need to set this to a 401. Here is my code: protected void Application_EndRequest() { if (Context.Response.StatusCode == MyAuthAttribute.AUTHORIZATION_FAILED_STATUS) { //check for 666 - status code of hidden 401 Context.Response.StatusCode = 401; } } Even though this works, my question is there something in Asp.net MVC 2 that would prevent me from having to do this? • How to populate Java (web) application with initial data using Spring/JPA/Hibernate

  I want to setup my database with initial data programmatically. I want to populate my database for development runs, not for testing runs (it's easy). The product is built on top of Spring and JPA/Hibernate. Developer checks out the project Developer runs command/script to setup database with initial data Developer starts application (server) and begins developing/testing then: Developer runs command/script to flush the database and set it up with new initial data because database structures or the initial data bundle were changed What I want is to setup my environment by required parts in order to call my DAOs and insert new objects into database. I do not want to create initial data sets in raw SQL, XML, take dumps of database or whatever. I want to programmatically create objects and persist them in database as I would in normal application logic. One way to accomplish this would be to start up my application normally and run a special servlet that does the initialization. But is that really the way to go? I would love to execute the initial data setup as Maven task and I don't know how to do that if I take the servlet approach. There is somewhat similar question. I took a quick glance at the suggested DBUnit and Unitils. But they seem to be heavily focused in setting up testing environments, which is not what I want here. DBUnit does initial data population, but only using xml/csv fixtures, which is not what I'm after here. Then, Maven has SQL plugin, but I don't want to handle raw SQL. Maven also has Hibernate plugin, but it seems to help only in Hibernate configuration and table schema creation (not in populating db with data). How to do this?

• Preserving case in HTTP headers with Ruby's Net:HTTP

  Although the HTTP spec says that headers are case insensitive; Paypal, with their new adaptive payments API require their headers to be case-sensitive. Using the paypal adaptive payments extension for ActiveMerchant (http://github.com/lamp/paypal_adaptive_gateway) it seems that although the headers are set in all caps, they are sent in mixed case. However, the rails 3 environment.rb looks way different (there is no config code block, so putting it in arbitrarily causes an error where config is not defined). So my questions are 1) Do I actually have to put the gem config anywhere? I looked at https://github.com/trevmex/authlogic_rails3_example/ and it seems he didn't put it anywhere. 2) Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong in terms of rspec? • "Pretty" Continuous Integration for Python

  This is a slightly.. vain question, but BuildBot's output isn't particularly nice to look at.. For example, compared to.. phpUnderControl Hudson CruiseControl.rb ..and others, BuildBot looks rather.. archaic I'm currently playing with Hudson, but it is very Java-centric (although with this guide, I found it easier to setup than BuildBot, and produced more info) Basically: is there any Continuous Integration systems aimed at python, that produce lots of shiney graphs and the likes? Update: After trying a few alternatives, I think I'll stick with Hudson. Integrity was nice and simple, but quite limited. I think Buildbot is better suited to having numerous build-slaves, rather than everything running on a single machine like I was using it. Setting Hudson up for a Python project was pretty simple: Download Hudson from https://hudson.dev.java.net/ Run it with java -jar hudson.war Open the web interface on the default address of http://localhost:8080 Go to Manage Hudson, Plugins, click "Update" or similar Install the Git plugin (I had to set the git path in the Hudson global preferences) Create a new project, enter the repository, SCM polling intervals and so on Install nosetests via easy_install if it's not already In the a build step, add nosetests --with-xunit --verbose Check "Publish JUnit test result report" and set "Test report XMLs" to **/nosetests.xml That's all that's required. You can setup email notifications, and the plugins are worth a look. A few I'm currently using for Python projects: SLOCCount plugin to count lines of code (and graph it!) - you need to install sloccount separately Violations to parse the PyLint output (you can setup warning thresholds, graph the number of violations over each build) Cobertura can parse the coverage.py output. Nosetest can gather coverage while running your tests, using nosetests --with-coverage (this writes the output to **/coverage.xml)

• jQuery - .Ready fires on div tag not in the page

  Dear all, I have implemented below function in a separate .js script file which I load in my main page (Asp.net mvc). The call back to server is rather costly but ok if specifically requested on the sub-page / content page on which my div tag needs to be filled. My problem is that the code runs on every page, including pages where the div tag is not present. How can I remedy my code? • How do I store more information in a marker?

  Hello, I'm using Google Maps v3 and I build in the server side a json collection of location data. So when I receive that, I iterate through that collection and create a marker object for each and every one of them. For each of these markers, I bind them with the click event, so when the user clicks on a marker in the map, it displays an infoWindow with data related to the associated location. I have an array to store all the location got from the server that holds the retrieved json objects and their corresponding marker. The problem is that, even when I have an array that I can reference or iterate through, I need to not only get the marker object when the user clicks on them, but also the location object, that stores more information. I tried to mantain this array of objects and reference it from the calling object without success, because the function is called by the marker and not the location object. So I thought if it's possible to store more information in the google maps marker object like using a general purpose field. Please let me know if more information is needed. Thanks!

  I have been working on an iPhone app that has a feature of uploading photos to TwitPic. I have it working with basic authentication. I am trying to get it working with OAuth. I am getting authentication errors. I have studied very carefully the TwitPic documentation. I am authorising the app by displaying a UI Web View and the it returns a PIN value. I enter the PIN value in the app and request the token. I am able to upload status updates to Twitter but not photos.   Hi I am using a wordpress plugin called "kf most read" which stores a count of how many times a post was read, and lets you output a list of most read posts. This works well. The issue is, I am trying to pull the most read posts, but only the most read posts within the current category you are viewing. I am close to clueless when it comes to sql.
