  • Access report prints slow

    I have an access report that comes up in a few seconds in the preview mode. When I try to print it takes about 45 seconds to print. Any ideas why this might be? This is done in Access 2003. Thanks, Paul

  • Buffer requests in nginx while a symlink switches on backend

    In a release deployment I would like to buffer client requests that come to nginx(in reverse proxy) mode to be buffered for possibily 1-2 seconds while a pdsh request is sent to switch symlinks on the back end server to /var/www/html/current . After the switch is complete, I would want to release the buffering while avoiding a herd clash. Is this possible in nginx? Can someone help? Edit: The idea is not to loose requests and from nginx forums I've come to know that retries can sometimes results in CPU spins

    I have to run clamav on large files. I was wondering which command was the fastest between clamscan and clamdscan. But it seems that clamdscan is not working properly: it scans file larger than 1 GB. Could you guys help me find why the heck clamdscan isn't working ? Between clamscan and clamdscan which one is less resource consuming ? I run ClamAV 0.97.8/18037 on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS.   • Activate Grub to show up at start up ?

    I used to have both windows vista and ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop and i could choose which one to start at start up. But now I only have ubuntu 10,04 on my laptop and because there is only one operating system on my laptop the grub window doesn't show up. I need it because sometimes I need to start my ubuntu in recovery mode with no graphics, I checked and grub is already installed, how can I activate it at start up ?   • How do you close a VMWare Fusion VM Window without shutting it down or suspending it?

    There are a few parts to this question. The first is: I'm running a virtual machine guest using vmrun and nogui, when I open the VMWare Fusion application, the window library opens but subsequently also opens any window of a running VM. Is there a way to prevent this? Secondly, but related: Once it does pop up or I have that separate VM Window open, is there a way to close the window such that it does not suspend or shutdown the vm i.e. convert it back to nogui mode?

In suphp mode server was overloading by traffic so i decided to switch it to eaccelerator and now i am lost... Can someone explain that?

    I've installed Ubuntu Server under Virtualbox just to get a nice little shell. I've also installed the VirtualBox "Guest Additions" and set "Shared Clipboard: Bidirectional". I still can't seem to get any copy-paste working. Am I missing something here? I've installed gpm which gives mouse support in server mode (no X), and allows copy-paste using the mouse, but still the VirtualBox integration doesn't work.

    Using two servers with NLB, each box contains IIS and a mail server. Server1 is the primary Server2 runs the backup mail server The problem is the web app sends email to ourselves. When mail is sent from Server2 (via its own SMTP server) to ourselves, it tries to contact Server1, as its the mail server IP. But under Unicast mode of NLB, it cant reach the host via the public dedicated IP address. How can we get round this?

  • Forgotten LUKS passphrase

    i am stuck with a big problem. I have encrypted my linux drive with LUKS and now I can't remember it. During boot, it prompts me for the passphrase, but I went into troubleshooting mode and deleted the entry from /etc/crypttab so at least I can boot now into my account but that doesn't solve the problem. I can't access my drive /dev/sda5. Can someone please show me a way to crack the passphrase or is there no way around it.

I launch those programs with PHP's system(). The problem is, when the programs launch, they launch BEHIND iexplore instead of in front of it. How can I force the programs being launched to ALWAYS load in the foreground?

  • Fix single entry from mbr

    I use EasyBCD to manage my tripleboot of (1) Windows Server 2008 R2, (2) Windows 7 Professional and (3) Ubuntu Linux. While trying to change the order of my boot menu I ended up losing the Windows Server entry. Luckily I had a boot menu backup (.bcd file) that allowed me to restore my boot menu using EasyBCD. However, when I now select the Windows Server option in my boot menu the Windows Server Recovery Environment starts up. So I have to select language/keyboard layout/etc. and then I have 3 options as shown in the image below. . My goal is to fix the one corrupted Windows Server entry from my boot menu without messing up or losing the two other ones. I'm guessing the Recovery Console (Command Prompt) is the next step and that I will be needing bootrec.exe. But when consulting this page: Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows (about half way down there's a link that shows the bootrec.exe options) I'm getting uncertain. The page lists 4 options for bootrec.exe : /FixMbr /FixBoot /ScanOs /RebuildBcd What option do I need to fix just the server entry of my boot menu? Thanks in advance, Sander P.S. All three OS's are on the same physical disk (3 different partitions).     Hi, I'm using Firefox on my netbook, and I want to save as many vertical pixels as possible without turning to full-screen mode. Right now, the only thing in my way is the fact that the tab bar can't be moved like the navigation bar or the bookmarks toolbar. I'm looking for a Firefox add-on that will let me place the tab bar side-by-side with the other bars. Is there anything like that? (the lighter the better)

  • Windows 8 black screen with mouse pointer after login

    I restarted my system today and after logging in, i could see see nothing but a black screen with mouse pointer. I can start task manager via alt+ctrl+del, Task manager and msconfig show fine but when i try to run 'explorer' nothing happens. In safe mode everything seems fine. I do not have any system restore points and repair options from the DVD show "this option is not available for the selected OS" I've also updated my graphic drivers. Didn't help
