  • getting Cannot identify image file when trying to create thumbnail in django

    - by Mo J. Mughrabi
    Am trying to create a thumbnail in django, am trying to build a custom class specifically to be used for generating thumbnails. As following from StringIO import StringIO from PIL import Image class Thumbnail(object): source = '' size = (50, 50) output = '' def __init__(self): pass @staticmethod def load(src): self = Thumbnail() self.source = src return self def generate(self, size=(50, 50)): if not isinstance(size, tuple): raise Exception('Thumbnail class: The size parameter must be an instance of a tuple.') self.size = size # resize properties box = self.size factor = 1 fit = True image = Image.open(self.source) # Convert to RGB if necessary if image.mode not in ('L', 'RGB'): image = image.convert('RGB') while image.size[0]/factor > 2*box[0] and image.size[1]*2/factor > 2*box[1]: factor *=2 if factor > 1: image.thumbnail((image.size[0]/factor, image.size[1]/factor), Image.NEAREST) #calculate the cropping box and get the cropped part if fit: x1 = y1 = 0 x2, y2 = image.size wRatio = 1.0 * x2/box[0] hRatio = 1.0 * y2/box[1] if hRatio > wRatio: y1 = int(y2/2-box[1]*wRatio/2) y2 = int(y2/2+box[1]*wRatio/2) else: x1 = int(x2/2-box[0]*hRatio/2) x2 = int(x2/2+box[0]*hRatio/2) image = image.crop((x1,y1,x2,y2)) #Resize the image with best quality algorithm ANTI-ALIAS image.thumbnail(box, Image.ANTIALIAS) # save image to memory temp_handle = StringIO() image.save(temp_handle, 'png') temp_handle.seek(0) self.output = temp_handle return self def get_output(self): return self.output.read() the purpose of the class is so i can use it inside different locations to generate thumbnails on the fly. The class works perfectly, I've tested it directly under a view.. I've implemented the thumbnail class inside the save method of the forms to resize the original images on saving. in my design, I have two fields for thumbnails. I was able to generate one thumbnail, if I try to generate two it crashes and I've been stuck for hours not sure whats the problem. Here is my model class Image(models.Model): article = models.ForeignKey(Article) title = models.CharField(max_length=100, null=True, blank=True) src = models.ImageField(upload_to='publication/image/') r128 = models.ImageField(upload_to='publication/image/128/', blank=True, null=True) r200 = models.ImageField(upload_to='publication/image/200/', blank=True, null=True) uploaded_at = models.DateTimeField(auto_now=True) Here is my forms class ImageForm(models.ModelForm): """ """ class Meta: model = Image fields = ('src',) def save(self, commit=True): instance = super(ImageForm, self).save(commit=True) file = Thumbnail.load(instance.src) instance.r128 = SimpleUploadedFile( instance.src.name, file.generate((128, 128)).get_output(), content_type='image/png' ) instance.r200 = SimpleUploadedFile( instance.src.name, file.generate((200, 200)).get_output(), content_type='image/png' ) if commit: instance.save() return instance the strange part is, when i remove the line which contains instance.r200 in the form save. It works fine, and it does the thumbnail and stores it successfully. Once I add the second thumbnail it fails.. Any ideas what am doing wrong here? Thanks Update: I tried earlier doing the following but I still got the same error class ImageForm(models.ModelForm): """ """ class Meta: model = Image fields = ('src',) def save(self, commit=True): instance = super(ImageForm, self).save(commit=True) instance.r128 = SimpleUploadedFile( instance.src.name, Thumbnail.load(instance.src).generate((128, 128)).get_output(), content_type='image/png' ) instance.r200 = SimpleUploadedFile( instance.src.name, Thumbnail.load(instance.src).generate((200, 200)).get_output(), content_type='image/png' ) if commit: instance.save() return instance

  • MySQL - get all unique values of a column, check if has a specific value

    - by gamers2000
    First off - apologies for the poor title, I have no idea how to describe it in a one-liner. I have a table - snippet is below. mysql> select * from playlistfiles; +-----------------------+--------------+-----------+ | FileName | PlaylistName | FileIndex | +-----------------------+--------------+-----------+ | File1 | Image1 | 0 | | File1 | Video1 | 2 | | File2 | Video1 | 0 | | File3 | Video1 | 1 | | File4 | Image1 | 1 | | File4 | Video1 | 3 | +-----------------------+--------------+-----------+ 6 rows in set (0.00 sec) What I need to do is to get all the FileNames and whether the file is in a playlist or not, as well as order them by FileIndex i.e. for the Image1 playlist, the output should be +-----------------------+------------+-----------+ | FileName | InPlaylist | FileIndex | +-----------------------+------------+-----------+ | File1 | 1 | 0 | | File2 | 0 | Null | | File3 | 0 | Null | | File4 | 1 | 1 | +-----------------------+------------+-----------+ and Video1 would be +-----------------------+------------+-----------+ | FileName | InPlaylist | FileIndex | +-----------------------+------------+-----------+ | File2 | 1 | 0 | | File3 | 1 | 1 | | File1 | 1 | 2 | | File4 | 1 | 3 | +-----------------------+------------+-----------+ In short, I need to be able to get all the unique FileNames from the table, and check if it is in a given table and if so, order it by FileIndex.

  • packing fields of a class into a byte array in c#

    - by alex
    Hi all: I am trying to create a fast way to convert c# classes into byte array. I thought of serializing the class directly to a byte array using an example I found: // Convert an object to a byte array private byte[] ObjectToByteArray(Object obj) { if(obj == null) return null; BinaryFormatter bf = new BinaryFormatter(); MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); bf.Serialize(ms, obj); return ms.ToArray(); } But the byte array I got contains some other information that are not related to the fields in the class. I guess it is also converting the Properties of the class. Is there a way to serialize only the fields of the class to a byte array? Thanks

  • How to adjust a JScrollPane to its contained JTree

    - by spuas
    Hello, here I have a swing size question: I have a JTree which is contained inside a JScrollPane (which is contained in a custom component which extends JXPanel from swingx, but I think that has nothing to do with this question). Doesn't matter how many rows the tree has, the scrollpane is always bigger (the tree is dinamic but not designed to have many rows) but what I would like is the JScrollPane to adjust to the tree initial height and then show the vertical scroll when some of the nodes are expanded. I have tried without setting any size at all, setting tree preferred size to null and setting scrollpane preferred size to null as well but nothing changes. I DO NOT WANT to set the size manually... Is there a way to do this? Thanks

  • ArgumentException or ArgumentNullException for string parameters?

    - by Anna Lear
    Far as best practices are concerned, which is better: public void SomeMethod(string str) { if(string.IsNullOrEmpty(str)) { throw new ArgumentException("str cannot be null or empty."); } // do other stuff } or public void SomeMethod(string str) { if(str == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("str"); } if(str == string.Empty) { throw new ArgumentException("str cannot be empty."); } // do other stuff } The second version seems more precise, but also more cumbersome than the first. I usually go with #1, but figured I'd check if there's an argument to be made for #2.

  • JScrollPane content to image

    - by Sebastian Ikaros Rizzo
    I'm trying to save the main viewport and headers of a JScrollPane (larger than screen) to PNG image files. I created 3 classes extending JPanel (MainTablePanel, MapsHeaderPanel and ItemsHeaderPanel) and set them to the viewports. Each of them has this method: public BufferedImage createImage() { BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(getSize().width, getSize().height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB); Graphics g = bi.createGraphics(); paint(g); g.dispose(); return bi; } Each class has also a paint method, which paints the background and then call the super.paint() to paint some label. For example: public void paint(Graphics g){ g.setColor(Color.BLACK); g.fillRect(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight()); g.setColor(new Color(255, 255, 0, 50)); // for loop that paints some vertical yellow lines for(int i=0; i<getWidth(); i+=K.mW){ g.fillRect(i-1, 0, 2, getHeight()); if(i%(K.mW*5)==0){ g.fillRect(i-2, 0, 4, getHeight()); } } // called to pain some rotated JLabels super.paint(g); } From an external JFrame I then tried to save them to PNG file, using this code: BufferedImage tableImg = mainTableP.createImage(); BufferedImage topImg = mapsHeaderP.createImage(); BufferedImage leftImg = itemsHeaderP.createImage(); ImageIO.write(tableImg, "png", new File(s.homeDir+"/table.png")); ImageIO.write(topImg, "png", new File(s.homeDir+"/top.png")); ImageIO.write(leftImg, "png", new File(s.homeDir+"/left.png")); This is a screenshot of the application running: screenshot And this is the header exported: top If I comment the "super.paint(g)" instruction, I obtain a correct image (thus without all JLables, clearly). It seems like the second paint (super.paint(g)) is painted shifted into the BufferedImage and taking elements outside its JPanel. Somebody could explain me this behaviour? Thank you. ========== EDIT for SSCCE ==================================== This should compile. You can execute it as it is, and in c:\ you'll find two images (top.png and left.png) that should be the same as the two headers. Unfortunately, they are not. Background is not painted. Moreover (especially if you look at left.png) you can see that the labels are painted twice and shifted (note, for example, "Left test 21"). import java.awt.*; import java.awt.image.BufferedImage; import java.io.File; import javax.imageio.ImageIO; import javax.swing.*; public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); frame.setLayout(null); frame.setSize(800, 600); JScrollPane scrollP = new JScrollPane(); scrollP.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS); scrollP.setHorizontalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS); MyPanel top = new MyPanel(); for(int i=0; i<30; i++){ JLabel label = new JLabel("Test "+i); label.setOpaque(false); label.setBounds(50*i, 40, 50, 20); label.setForeground(Color.GREEN); top.add(label); } top.setLayout(null); top.setOpaque(false); top.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(50*30, 200)); top.validate(); MyPanel left = new MyPanel(); for(int i=0; i<30; i++){ JLabel label = new JLabel("Left test "+i); label.setBounds(0, 50*i, 100, 20); label.setForeground(Color.RED); left.add(label); } left.setLayout(null); left.setOpaque(false); left.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(200, 50*30)); MyPanel center = new MyPanel(); center.setLayout(null); center.setOpaque(false); center.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(50*30, 50*30)); scrollP.setViewportView(center); scrollP.setColumnHeaderView(top); scrollP.setRowHeaderView(left); scrollP.setBounds(0, 50, 750, 500); frame.add(scrollP); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(javax.swing.WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setVisible(true); try{ BufferedImage topImg = top.createImage(); ImageIO.write(topImg, "png", new File("C:/top.png")); BufferedImage leftImg = left.createImage(); ImageIO.write(leftImg, "png", new File("C:/left.png")); }catch(Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); } } } class MyPanel extends JPanel{ public void paint(Graphics g){ g.setColor(Color.BLACK); g.fillRect(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight()); g.setColor(new Color(255, 255, 0, 50)); for(int i=0; i<getWidth(); i+=50){ g.fillRect(i-1, 0, 2, getHeight()); } super.paint(g); // COMMENT this line to obtain background images } public BufferedImage createImage() { BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(getSize().width, getSize().height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB); Graphics g = bi.createGraphics(); paint(g); g.dispose(); return bi; } }

  • How can I access a global pointer outside of a C function?

  • How can I retrieve the values of controls in the form that posted?

    - by Mike at KBS
    I know this has got to be the simplest-sounding question ever asked about ASP.Net but I'm baffled. I have a form wherein my visitor will enter name, address, etc. Then I am POSTing that form via the PostBackUrl property of my Submit button to another page, where the fields are supposed to be all re-formed into new hidden fields, then POSTed again to Paypal. My problem is I cannot get at the values entered by the visitor in the original page. Any time I put in "runat='server'", ASP.Net completely changes the ID of the control, making it impossible to figure out how to access. In the POSTed form I tried Request.Form["_txtFirstName"] and that turned up null. Then I tried ((TextBox)PreviousPage.FindControl("_txtFirstName")).Text and that was null, too. I've tried variations on those. I cannot figure out how I'm supposed to get at these controls. Why does this stuff need to be so difficult?

  • Simplest way of creating java next/previous buttons

    - by Holly
    I know that when creating buttons, like next and previous, that the code can be somewhat long to get those buttons to function. My professor gave us this example to create the next button: private void jbtnNext_Click() { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Next" ,"Button Pressed", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE); try { if (rset.next()) { fillTextFields(false); }else{ //Display result in a dialog box JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Not found"); } } catch (SQLException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } } Though, I do not really understand how that short and simple if statement is what makes the next button function. I see that the fillTextFields(false) uses a boolean value and that you need to initialize that boolean value in the beginning of the code I believe. I had put private fillTextFields boolean = false; but this does not seem to be right... I'm just hoping someone could explain it better. Thanks :)

  • Changing BeginTime stops animation

    - by SaphuA
    Hi, I have a storyboard as a resource in a rectangle with a simple doubleAnimation. <Storyboard x:Name="EffectStoryboard"> <DoubleAnimation From="0" To="500" Storyboard.TargetName="WaveEffect" Storyboard.TargetProperty="Val0" RepeatBehavior="Forever" Duration="01:00:00" /> </Storyboard> I start the storyboard in the loaded event of the rectangle: private void Rectangle_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { Rectangle rectangle = sender as Rectangle; if (rectangle != null) { Storyboard storyboard = rectangle.Resources["EffectStoryboard"] as Storyboard; //DoubleAnimation doubleAnimation = storyboard.Children[0] as DoubleAnimation; //if (doubleAnimation != null) //{ // doubleAnimation.BeginTime = new TimeSpan(0, random.Next(0, 60), random.Next(0, 60)); //} storyboard.Begin(); } } The problem is that when I uncomment the commented code, the animation won't start anymore. Even when I use non-random values in the timespan. Why?

  • How can I improve the recursion capabilities of my ECMAScript implementation?

    - by ChaosPandion
    After some resent tests I have found my implementation cannot handle very much recursion. Although after I ran a few tests in Firefox I found that this may be more common than I originally thought. I believe the basic problem is that my implementation requires 3 calls to make a function call. The first call is made to a method named Call that makes sure the call is being made to a callable object and gets the value of any arguments that are references. The second call is made to a method named Call which is defined in the ICallable interface. This method creates the new execution context and builds the lambda expression if it has not been created. The final call is made to the lambda that the function object encapsulates. Clearly making a function call is quite heavy but I am sure that with a little bit of tweaking I can make recursion a viable tool when using this implementation. public static object Call(ExecutionContext context, object value, object[] args) { var func = Reference.GetValue(value) as ICallable; if (func == null) { throw new TypeException(); } if (args != null && args.Length > 0) { for (int i = 0; i < args.Length; i++) { args[i] = Reference.GetValue(args[i]); } } var reference = value as Reference; if (reference != null) { if (reference.IsProperty) { return func.Call(reference.Value, args); } else { return func.Call(((EnviromentRecord)reference.Value).ImplicitThisValue(), args); } } return func.Call(Undefined.Value, args); } public object Call(object thisObject, object[] arguments) { var lexicalEnviroment = Scope.NewDeclarativeEnviroment(); var variableEnviroment = Scope.NewDeclarativeEnviroment(); var thisBinding = thisObject ?? Engine.GlobalEnviroment.GlobalObject; var newContext = new ExecutionContext(Engine, lexicalEnviroment, variableEnviroment, thisBinding); Engine.EnterContext(newContext); var result = Function.Value(newContext, arguments); Engine.LeaveContext(); return result; }

  • JFrame does not refresh after deleting an image

    - by dajackal
    Hi! I'm working for the first time with images in a JFrame, and I have some problems. I succeeded in putting an image on my JFrame, and now i want after 2 seconds to remove my image from the JFrame. But after 2 seconds, the image does not disappear, unless I resize the frame or i minimize and after that maximize the frame. Help me if you can. Thanks. Here is the code: File f = new File("2.jpg"); System.out.println("Picture " + f.getAbsolutePath()); BufferedImage image = ImageIO.read(f); MyBufferedImage img = new MyBufferedImage(image); img.resize(400, 300); img.setSize(400, 300); img.setLocation(50, 50); getContentPane().add(img); this.setSize(600, 400); this.setLocationRelativeTo(null); this.setVisible(true); Thread.sleep(2000); System.out.println("2 seconds over"); getContentPane().remove(img); Here is the MyBufferedImage class: public class MyBufferedImage extends JComponent{ private BufferedImage image; private int nPaint; private int avgTime; private long previousSecondsTime; public MyBufferedImage(BufferedImage b) { super(); this.image = b; this.nPaint = 0; this.avgTime = 0; this.previousSecondsTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); } @Override public void paintComponent(Graphics g) { Graphics2D g2D = (Graphics2D) g; g2D.setColor(Color.BLACK); g2D.fillRect(0, 0, this.getWidth(), this.getHeight()); long currentTimeA = System.currentTimeMillis(); //g2D.drawImage(this.image, 320, 0, 0, 240, 0, 0, 640, 480, null); g2D.drawImage(image, 0,0, null); long currentTimeB = System.currentTimeMillis(); this.avgTime += currentTimeB - currentTimeA; this.nPaint++; if (currentTimeB - this.previousSecondsTime > 1000) { System.out.format("Drawn FPS: %d\n", nPaint++); System.out.format("Average time of drawings in the last sec.: %.1f ms\n", (double) this.avgTime / this.nPaint++); this.previousSecondsTime = currentTimeB; this.avgTime = 0; this.nPaint = 0; } } }

  • System.Windows.Forms.DataGridView does not display data

    - by Water Cooler v2
    All I am doing is a simple: // Both the methods, order.GetAllOrderItems() and order.GetOrderedItemsWhereBrandIs("foo") // return an IEnumerable<T> so the assignment to the DataSource property of the DataGridView // should be fine. The problem is in re-assigning the data source property. public void DisplayItems() { // The data appears if I have just this line. dgvOrderedItems.DataSource = order.GetAllOrderItems(); dgvOrderedItems.DataSource = null; // This time the data grid does not take the new data source. Instead, because // of the null assignment in the previous statement, it displays no data at all. dgvOrderedItems.DataSource = order.GetOrderedItemsWhereBrandIs("Lenovo"); } My question is: is there a way to change the data source of a DataGridView control once it has been set? I am using C# 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010 for development.

  • Linq to SQL Strange SQL Translation

    - by Master Morality
    I have a simple query that is generating some odd SQL translations, which is blowing up my code when the object is saturated. from x in DataContext.MyEntities select new { IsTypeCDA = x.EntityType == "CDA" //x.EntityType is a string and EntityType.CDA is a const string... } I would expect this query should translate to: SELECT (CASE WHEN [t0].[EntityType] = @p1 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) as [IsTypeCDA] ... Instead I get this : SELECT (CASE WHEN @p1 = [t0].[EntityType] THEN 1 WHEN NOT (@p1 = [t0].[EntityType]) THEN 0 ELSE NULL END) AS [IsTypeCDA] ... Since I'm saturating a POCO where IsTypeCDA is a bool, it blows up stating I can't assign null to bool. Any thoughts? Edit: fixed the property names so they make sense...

  • invalid postback event instead of dropdown to datagrid

    I faced with funny situation. I created a page which is having some value, I set these value and control my post back event also. The problem is happening when I change a component index(ex reselect a combobox which is not inside my datagrid) then I dont know why without my page call the Page_Load it goes to create a new row in grid function and all of my parameter are null! I am just receiving null exception. So in other word I try to explain the situation: when I load my page I am initializing some parameter. then everything is working fine. in my page when I change selected item of my combo box, page suppose to go and run function related to that combo box, and call page_load, but it is not going there and it goes to rowcreated function. • Navigation properties not set when using ADO.NET Mocking Context Generator

    - by olenak
    I am using ADO.NET Mocking Context Generator plugin for my Entity Framework model. I have not started on using mocks yet, just trying to fix generated entity and context classes to make application run as before without exceptions. I've already fixed T4 template to support SaveChanges method. Now I've got another problem: when I try to access any navigation property it is set to null. All the primitive fields inherited from DB table are set and correct. So what I am doing is the following using (var context = MyContext()) { var order = context.Orders.Where(p => p.Id == 7); var product = order.Products; } in this case product is set to null. But that was not a case while using default code generator, it used to return real product object. Thanks ahead for any suggestions!

  • Race condition for thread startup

    - by Ozzah
    A similar question was asked here, but the answers generally all seem to relate to the lambda notation. I get a similar result without the lambda so I thought I'd ask for some clarification: Say I have something like this: for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) (new Thread(new ThreadStart(delegate() { Console.WriteLine("Thread " + i); }))).Start(); One would expect the following output: Thread 0 Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Now I realise that the threads aren't started in any particular order, so let's just assume that the above lines can come out in any order. But that is not what happens. What instead happens: Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 4 Thread 4 Thread 4 or something similar, which leads me to believe that rather than passing the value if i, it is passing the reference. (Which is weird, since an int is a value type). Doing something like this: for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) (new Thread(new ThreadStart(delegate() { int j = i; Console.WriteLine("Thread " + j); }))).Start(); does not help either, even though we have made a copy of i. I am assuming the reason is that it hasn't made a copy of i in time. Doing something like this: for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) { (new Thread(new ThreadStart(delegate() { Console.WriteLine("Thread " + i); }))).Start(); Thread.Sleep(50); } seems to fix the problem, however it is extremely undesirable as we're wasting 50ms on each iteration, not to mention the fact that if the computer is heavily loaded then maybe 50ms may not be enough. Here is a sample with my current, specific problem: Thread t = new Thread(new ThreadStart(delgate() { threadLogic(param1, param2, param3, param4); })); t.Start(); param1 = param2 = param3 = param4 = null; with: void threadLogic(object param1, object param2, object param3, object param4) { // Do some stuff here... } I want threadLogic() to run in its own thread, however the above code gives a null reference exception. I assume this is because the values are set to null before the thread has had a chance to start. Again, putting a Thread.Sleep(100) works, but it is an awful solution from every aspect. What do you guys recommend for this particular type of race condition?

  • How to perform gui operation in doInBackground method?

    - by jM2.me
    My application reads a user selected file which contains addresses and then displays on mapview when done geocoding. To avoid hanging app the importing and geocoding is done in AsyncTask. public class LoadOverlayAsync extends AsyncTask<Uri, Integer, StopsOverlay> { Context context; MapView mapView; Drawable drawable; public LoadOverlayAsync(Context con, MapView mv, Drawable dw) { context = con; mapView = mv; drawable = dw; } protected StopsOverlay doInBackground(Uri... uris) { StringBuilder text = new StringBuilder(); StopsOverlay stopsOverlay = new StopsOverlay(drawable, context); Geocoder geo = new Geocoder(context, Locale.US); try { File file = new File(new URI(uris[0].toString())); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(file)); String line; while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) { StopOverlay stopOverlay = null; String[] tempLine = line.split("~"); List<Address> results = geo.getFromLocationName(tempLine[4] + " " + tempLine[5] + " " + tempLine[7] + " " + tempLine[8], 10); if (results.size() > 0) { Toast progressToast = Toast.makeText(context, "More than one yo", 1000); progressToast.show(); } else if (results.size() == 1) { Address addr = results.get(0); GeoPoint mPoint = new GeoPoint((int)(addr.getLatitude() * 1E6), (int)(addr.getLongitude() * 1E6)); stopOverlay = new StopOverlay(mPoint, tempLine); } if (stopOverlay != null) { stopsOverlay.addOverlay(stopOverlay); } //List<Address> results = geo.getFromLocationName(locationName, maxResults) } } catch (URISyntaxException e) { showErrorToast(e.toString()); //e.printStackTrace(); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { showErrorToast(e.toString()); //e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { showErrorToast(e.toString()); //e.printStackTrace(); } return stopsOverlay; } protected void onProgressUpdate(Integer... progress) { Toast progressToast = Toast.makeText(context, "Loaded " + progress.toString(), 1000); progressToast.show(); } protected void onPostExecute(StopsOverlay so) { //mapView.getOverlays().add(so); Toast progressToast = Toast.makeText(context, "Done geocoding", 1000); progressToast.show(); } protected void showErrorToast(String msg) { Toast Newtoast = Toast.makeText(context, msg, 10000); Newtoast.show(); } } But if geocode fails, I want a dialog popup to let user edit the address. That would require calling on gui method while in doInBackground. What would be a good workaround this?

  • How do I detect server status in a port scanner java implementation

    - by akz
    I am writing a port scanner in Java and I want to be able to distinct the following 4 use cases: port is open port is open and server banner was read port is closed server is not live I have the following code: InetAddress address = InetAddress.getByName("google.com"); int[] ports = new int[]{21, 22, 23, 80, 443}; for (int i = 0; i < ports.length; i++) { int port = ports[i]; Socket socket = null; try { socket = new Socket(address, port); socket.setSoTimeout(500); System.out.println("port " + port + " open"); BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream())); String line = reader.readLine(); if (line != null) { System.out.println(line); } socket.close(); } catch (SocketTimeoutException ex) { // port was open but nothing was read from input stream ex.printStackTrace(); } catch (ConnectException ex) { // port is closed ex.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { if (socket != null && !socket.isClosed()) { try { socket.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } } The problem is that I get a ConnectionException both when the port is closed and the server cannot be reached but with a different exception message: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect when the connection was never established and java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect when the port was closed so I cannot make the distinction between the two use cases without digging into the actual exception message. Same thing happens when I try a different approach for the socket creation. If I use: socket = new Socket(); socket.setSoTimeout(500); socket.connect(new InetSocketAddress(address, port), 1000); I have the same problem but with the SocketTimeoutException instead. I get a java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out if port was open but there was no banner to be read and java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out if server is not live or port is closed. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Checking values in this array, JQuery

    - by Felix Guerrero
    Hi. I have this array (JQuery) where I add all my form's controls, it looks like: var name = $("#name"), surname = $("#surname"), address = $("#address"), phone = $("#phone"), photo = $("#photo"), grade = $("#grade"), profession = $("#profession"), email = $('#email'), title = $('#title'), allFields = $([]).add(name) .add(surname) .add(address) .add(phone) .add(photo) .add(grade) .add(profession) .add(email) .add(title) .add(grade); I want to check the values of each element into the 'allFields' array with function checkingFieldsArentEmpty(){ var valid = true; for (var f in allFields){ if(allFields[f].val() === null) //if any val is null just return false return false; } //true return valid; } I need ideas in order to improve the last function. Thanks.

  • Hiredis waiting for message

    - by Vivek Goel
    I am using hiredis C library to connect to redis server. I am not able to figure out how to wait for new messages after subscribing to new message. My code look like: signal(SIGPIPE, SIG_IGN ); struct event_base *base = event_base_new(); redisAsyncContext *c = redisAsyncConnect("127.0.0.1", 6379); if (c->err) { /* Let *c leak for now... */ printf("Error: %s\n", c->errstr); return 1; } redisLibeventAttach(c, base); redisAsyncSetConnectCallback(c, connectCallback); redisAsyncSetDisconnectCallback(c, disconnectCallback); redisAsyncCommand(c, NULL, NULL, "SET key %b", argv[argc - 1], strlen(argv[argc - 1])); redisAsyncCommand(c, getCallback, (char*) "end-1", "GET key"); redisAsyncCommand(c, getCallback, (char*) "end-1", "SUBSCRIBE foo"); Now how to tell hiredis to wait for message on channel ?
