    As far as I know the System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations.DataTypeAttribute not works in model validation in MVC v1. For example, public class Model { [DataType("EmailAddress")] public string Email {get; set;} } In the codes above, the Email property will not be validated in MVC v1. Is it working in MVC v2?     I have this model: class Journals(models.Model): jid = models.AutoField(primary_key=True) code = models.CharField("Code", max_length=50) name = models.CharField("Name", max_length=2000) publisher = models.CharField("Publisher", max_length=2000) price_euro = models.CharField("Euro", max_length=2000) price_dollars = models.CharField("Dollars", max_length=2000) Is there a way to let people fill out either price_euro or price_dollars? I do know that the best way to solve the problem is to have only one field and another table that specify the currency, but I have constraints and I cannot modify the DB. Thanks!

    I just setup an out of the box "W2K8 R2 Web" server and installed IIS 7 out of the box. Then I installed the .NET4 framework and ran "aspnet_regiis -i" command. I created a site using .NET 4.0 Integrated app pool. I created an MVC application using the default MVC project template, without modifying I compiled the project and deploy the files using (Publish) to the virtual directory. I can pull the site up, but the styles are missing from the page and for some reason it routing to the /Account/LogOn?ReturnUrl=/

    Is it possible to inherit permissions from an abstract model in Django? I can not really find anything about that. For me this doesn't work! class PublishBase(models.Model): class Meta: abstract = True get_latest_by = 'created' permissions = (('change_foreign_items', "Can change other user's items"),) EDIT: Not working means it fails silently. Permission is not created, as it wouldn't exist on the models inheriting from this class.

    Hey Folks, I am currently playing around with CSS3 and trying to achieve a text effect like this (the black blurry inner shadow): But I cannot find a way to create text shadows inside the text. I wonder whether it is still possible because the box-shadow element is able to render shadow inside like this: box-shadow: inset 0px -5px 10px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5); Any ideas?

    Hi, I have the following models class Employee(Person): job = model.Charfield(max_length=200) class Address(models.Model): street = models.CharField(max_length=200) city = models.CharField(max_length=200) class EmpAddress(Address): date_occupied = models.DateField() date_vacated = models.DateField() employee = models.ForeignKey() When I build a json data structure for an EmpAddress object using the django serialzer it does not include the inherited fields only the EmpAddress fields. I know the fields are available in the object in my view as I can print them but they are not built into the json structure. Does anyone know how to overcome this? Thanks Andrew

Do I create an entirely new domain model for the UI, and where is this kept in the project structure...in the domain layer, the UI layer, etc? Also, what do I use as my querying mechanism, do I create new repositories specifically for the UI domain objects, something other than repositories, or something else?

More than a problem with only smarty is with the whole MVC model, with CakePHP or KohanaPHP i experience the same problems, u need to do 3x lines of code and files for something that u can do with a few lines of simple php. Maybe u can tell how did u learned to code using MVC model :)

    Hello, I have an ObjectDataSource with an ID of ObjectDataSource1 on a webpage. I also have a gridview in which I am binding the ObjectDataSource.ID to the GridView.DataSourceID. The problem I get is when text is changed in a textbox, the code calls BrokerageTransactions.GetAllWithDt which returns a DataTable. I want to set this datatable as the DataSource for the GridView, but it is telling me that I can't set the DataSouce and DataSourceId together. How can I fix this? Code is below. Also.
