    Hi, We have request from our clients to provide a POS terminal version of our web-based software. They want to be able to enter record to their database from POS terminal (via web service) instead of using PC browser. I am the one to develop this application, as I am the lead developer of the main application. I haven't done any Windows embedded programming or .net compact edition before and would appreciate link to good tutorial or info on how to start developing for Windows CE 6.0 enabled POS terminal or device.   • Making web server in C with native scripting support

    I'm an intermediate C developer, trying to get better. I want to make a very basic and lightweight HTTP server with its own scripting language. Could I use something like Lua for scripting? If not, what? I don't want to use CGI/FastCGI like Apache does for PHP in most cases, I want my server to natively support my scripting language.

  • ssh asks for password despite ssh-copy-id

    I've been using public key authentication on a remote server for some time now for remote shell use as well as for sshfs mounts. After forcing a umount of my sshfs directory, I noticed that ssh began to prompt me for a password. I tried purging the remote .ssh/authorized_keys from any mention the local machine, and I cleaned the local machine from references to the remote machine. I then repeated my ssh-copy-id, it prompted me for a password, and returned normally. But lo and behold, when I ssh to the remote server I am still prompted for a password. I'm a little confused as to what the issue could be, any suggestions?

  • Unknown margin being added to a footer in IE6 + 7

    So yeah, like I said, I've spent a few hours trying to fix this bug in the footer that add's an extra 20-30px on to the bottom of the page in IE6 and 7. I've currently set all bottom margins to 0 so as to find what's causing it, I then scoured ie developer tools but came up empty.   • SQL 2008 R2 Mirroring Issue

    Windows 2008 R2 with SQL 2008 R2 - Using Mirroring of a Database across the WAN in a HA setup with one witness. One issue I am having is during a failure (ever so often) the system fails over or tries, but leaves both databases in a Restoring State. My guess is the failover issue happens when there is a WAN bouncing and the systems get confused. The usual fix is to reboot the sql servers. Has anyone seen this type of failure? While this does not happen often it does causes an issue and concern with HA not being trusted fully.

    When I run the command "ping 192.168.1.4" I am get the following results: Pinging 192.168.1.4 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.2: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.2: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.2: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.2: Destination host unreachable. Can anyone help me understand why in the world it's telling me that 192.168.1.2 is unreachable when that's not even the ip address I typed in? I'm very confused. Also in case it's relevant, I'm on a workgroup.

  • WD 1TB Passport Essential not working on some USB ports

    I have a strange situation here. I got a new Toshiba P850/04P laptop, there are 4 USB 3.0 ports, 2 on the right and 2 on the left. When I plug my WD 1TB Passport Essential into the 2 ports on the left, the drive keeps disconnecting and then connecting again, on and off. Sometimes it works well for 1 hour and then disconnects and even shows the "please format your drive" message. What is odd is: this WD 1TB Passport Essential works perfectly on those 2 ports on the right side. It has been working fine on all other PCs and laptops. Another 500 GB WD passport can work with the USB ports on the left (the ones 1TB can not), also all other devices can work with all 4 ports. I am really confused! Does anyone know what the problem could be?

    I followed this tut http://www.trainsignal.com/blog/how-to-set-up-safe-ftp-in-linux to setup an ftp server with user account sudo mkdir -p /home/ftp/ftpuser sudo useradd ftpuser -d /home/ftp/ftpuser -s /bin/false sudo passwd ftpuser when I tried to connect with login ftpuser remotely it didn't work. It didn't work even with root UNLESS I removed root from ftpusers. I am confused ftpusers are the users NOT allowed to do ftp ? Where are the list of users allowed then and why can't I connect with ftpuser I created ?

From the documentation http://sourceforge.net/projects/vnc-reflector/ I got that it's proxysitting between real VNC server (a host) and a number of VNC clients. My confusion is : 1. Does it make any changes to the coming stream from server 2. Does it make 1 connection with server to connect to many client or the connections are proportionate. Documentation is not clear in this.   • Mix content warning on ASPX page

    Hi, We have started receiving the mixed content warning on ASPX pages on our secured site. We do not have any mix content, we load all our JS, Images, CSS and ASPX files using HTTPS. I dont know why we have started receiving these warnings now. The latest thing which we have added is the third party control for Dialog boxes from Essential Object. We are previously using their Menu control but added dialog box recently. Also we have made our application browser compatible. I feel the reason is something between these two points. Can anyone suggest any solution or any workaround if they know any or have used Essential Object controls and faced simililar issue? Essential object is saying it is not their problem. The mix content warning appears any time and not specifically when the Essential Control dialog box popsup, thats why I am bit confused. Any help is highly appriciated. Thanks.

  • Booting drops to EFI shell but boots normally if exit'ed

    (first post here... I'm normally on stackoverflow) I'm booting an Intel ME 5788 board which uses EFI (a replacement for BIOS). On boot it drops out to the EFI Shell and the 'map' shows the drive as a blockdevice but there is no filesystem device mapped. If I just type 'exit' it boots normally to windows 7 and the configuration (using bcdedit.exe) looks fine. I'm confused - surely if its not been able to map the blockdevice as a filesystem device it should not boot? I would like to be able to get the boot to proceed without my interaction - does anyone know how to do it? (Also there is no Boot Manager options available in the shell, i.e. autoboot, bcfg etc)
