• Sessionstate not being saved between pages

  Hi, i am having problems with an asp.net c# site whereby i am setting a session state object to true and then redirecting to another page that needs to check the value of the session state object and it is null. Sometimes it is set correctly and other times is is simply null. When i debug on my local machine it works perfectly every time. Only when i upload to my web server does this temperamental behaviour happen. As it is based around the security of the site it is obviously important that the session data be valid and accurate every time. Is session state data unreliable? AFAIK its set to inproc, cookieless, 30 min timeout, vanilla installation of IIS. Does anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps i need to thread.sleep inbetween the storing of the session data and the reading? NB: the time between the write and the read is about 70ms.. ample time for the data to be written to RAM.....

Now I want to edit the entry. I've been using a generic function: def generic_edit(request, modelname, object_id): modelname = modelname.lower() form_class = form_dict[modelname] return update_object(request, form_class = form_class, object_id = object_id, template_name = 'createdit.html' ) but this pulls in all the info except the many-to-many selections saved to this object. I think I need to do something similar to this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1700202/editing-both-sides-of-m2m-in-admin-page, but I haven't figured it out. How do I use the generic update_object to edit the other side of many-to-many link?

• What's the diffrence btw System property and system environment variable

  Hi all I am not clear about this. When I run a java App or run an Applet in applet viewer,( in the IDE environment), System.getProperty("java.class.path") give me the same as System.getenv("CLASSPATH"), which is the CLASSPATH env variable defined. But when I deploy my applet to webserver and access it from the same computer as a client, I get different result for the two (System.getProperty("java.class.path") only point to jre home and System.getenv("CLASSPATH") return null). And here is some other things that make me wonder: For the applet part, the env var JAVA_HOME, i get the same result when deploying the applet in a browser as well as Applet Viewer. And if I define myself a env variable at system level, and use getenv("envName") the result is null. Is there anyway I can define one and get it in my java program? Thanks a lot Regards K.

I can't think of anything that I have changed that relates to this. Has nayone seen this error? Any ideas of what to try?

• ASP.NET Connection time out after being idle for a while

  My ASP.NET website while trying to connect to the database for first time after a period of inactivity throws an time out exception. I understand the connections in the connection pool get terminated after some idle time for some reason (Firewall or Oracle settings) and the pool or app doesn't have a clue about it. Is there any way to validate the connection beforehand so that the first try doesn't throw an exception? I don't have much control over the DB or Firewall settings. So I have to deal with this is my application.(would prefer if there is any web.config settings) I am using: ASP.NET 2.0. Oracle server 11g, Microsoft Enterprise Library DAAB to do all my DB operations. I did some search on this topic but didnt find any solid solution for this yet :(

• Android Market Publishing Issues

  I have an app which I have just updated to froyo to take advantage of the move to SD card feature. I am now trying to upload the update to the market but I keep getting the following error: "The file is invalid: W/ResourceType( 7193): Bad string block: last string is not 0- terminated ERROR getting 'android:label' attribute: attribute is not a string value". I changed the value in the manifest from "android:label="@string/app_name" " to "android:label="test" " and uploaded it, then it started complaining about the icon, saying that it wasn't a string. Anyone have any ideas? The application part of my manifest is shown below and I'm properly confused. The app compiles into an APK, it even installs and runs fine on my N1 (installing from SD card) it just won't upload to the market. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have absolutely no idea what's wrong, seems like I've tried everything I can think of including re-installing eclipse. Cheers Steve

I can give a full implementation if necessary - is there anything in my code that's going to create a null pointer?

• Can't find which row is causing conversion error

  I have the following table: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Accounts1]( [AccountId] [nvarchar](50) NULL, [ExpiryDate] [nvarchar](50) NULL ) I am trying to convert nvarchar to datetime using this query: select convert(datetime, expirydate) from accounts I get this error: Conversion failed when converting datetime from character string. The status bar says "2390 rows". I go to rows 2390, 2391 and 2392. There is nothing wrong with the data there. I even try to convert those particular rows and it works. How can I find out which row(s) is causing the conversion error?

• GCC destructor behaviour

  I've noticed a difference in behaviour for gcc's destructor when compiled under linux and crosscompiled with mingw. On linux the destructor will not get called unless the program terminates normally by itself (returns from main). I guess that kind of makes sense if you take signal handlers into account. On Win32 however, the destructor is called if the program is terminated by say a CTRL-C, but not when killed from the Task Manager. Why is this? And what would you suggest to make the destructor get called no matter how the process terminates - on Win32 in particular? • Why does Java Logging API create so many files?

  I am using java logging api to log errors in my exception. I am writing these errors to a log file. When i run my program i find a lot of files created.There are around 50 files created. Is there any mistake in my code or is it normal? • How to get the running of time of my program with gettimeofday()

  So I get the time at the beginning of the code, run it, and then get the time. struct timeval begin, end; gettimeofday(&begin, NULL); //code to time gettimeofday(&end, NULL); //get the total number of ms that the code took: unsigned int t = end.tv_usec - begin.tv_usec; Now I want to print it out in the form "**code took 0.007 seconds to run" or something similar. So two problems: 1) t seems to contain a value of the order 6000, and I KNOW the code didn't take 6 seconds to run. 2) How can I convert t to a double, given that it's an unsigned int? Or is there an easier way to print the output the way I wanted to?

• [Java] Send cookie with http request problem

  I'm trying to get a certain cookie in a java client by creating a series of Http requests. It looks like I'm getting a valid cookie from the server but when I'm sending out a request to the fnal url with the seemingly valid cookie I should get some lines of xml in the response but the response is blank because the cookie isw rong or is invalidated because a session has closed or an other problem which I can't figure out. The cookie handed out by the server expires at the end of the session. It seems to me the cookie is valid because when I do the same calls in firefox, a similar cookie with the same name and starting with the 3 first same letters and of the same length is stored in firefox, also expiring at the end of the session. If I then make a request to the final url with only this particular cookie stored in firefox (removed all other cookies), the xml is nicely rendered on the page. Any ideas about what I am doing wrong in this piece of code? • Telerik RadAjaxManager and Mouse Events in Chrome

  Whenever I'm using Telerik's RadAjaxManager in Chrome, the events sent to any mouse events I'm using are passed as null. For instance, the following: <img id="Image1" src="image.gif" onclick="alert(event)" /> <rad:RadAjaxManager ID="RadAjaxManager1" runat="server"> <AjaxSettings> </AjaxSettings> </rad:RadAjaxManager> Alerts null when clicking the image. This does not happen in IE or FF. The version of the RadAjaxManager is 1.8.5.0. I'm guessing the problem does not occur in later versions, but an upgrade is not an option at the moment. I tried Telerik's support forum, but they didn't really provide any answer. What could cause such a problem? And how can it be dealt with?

In other class I created such dictionary and set Binding to ListBox.ItemsSourseProperty. The Binding work well. I can see the items. But something wrong. the event 'PropertyChanged' always null. • Query Returning value as 0

  I am trying to execute following PL/SQL script in SQL Developer. • How can I pass managed objects from one AppDomain to another?

  I have two assemblies that I'm trying to link together. One is a sort of background process that's built with WinForms and will be designed to run as a Windows Service. I have a second project that will act as a UI for the background process whenever a user launches it. I've never tried attempting something like this with managed code before, so I've started trying to use windows messages to communicate between the two processes. I'm struggling when it comes to passing more than just IntPtrs back and forth, however. Is the area of heap I'm using out of scope to the other process or am I missing some security attribute maybe? Is there a better and cleaner way to go about something like this using an event driven model?

• Finding height in Binary Search Tree

  Hey I was wondering if anybody could help me rework this method to find the height of a binary search tree. So far my code looks like this however the answer im getting is larger than the actual height by 1, but when I remove the +1 from my return statements its less than the actual height by 1?
