I am processing some CSV file which i have copied in Bin folder of My ASP.NET Website.
When i execute
using (IDataReader csv = new CsvReader
(new StreamReader("sample.txt"), true, '|'))
{
.....
}
it complains me that "sample.txt" not found in "c:\Program Files\.....\"
Won't the runtime automatically look into the bin folder?
what modification do i need to do?

I need to test a feature in a live "asp.net mvc" web site and would want to block access to the site while testing, how would you recommend doing that? Is it possible to block access and still be able to test as an anonymous user? (I need to test the process as a user that's not logged in).
I tried to convert a project that relies on the vjs runtime to vs2010, but it errors out when trying to run. It's giving the error that "Could not load file or assembly 'vjslib' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format." I reinstalled the vjs runtime, but it didn't seem to help. Is there any way to get get .net 4 to work with this? Thanks!

I have COM function that returns BOOL -- which is simply a typedef for int -- and I'm generating a .Net wrapper using Visual Studio. Is there a way I can have the wrapper automatically convert the BOOL to the C# bool type and return that?
My site stops working when I drop a new DLL in the bin of my virtual directory. It took to much time to work properly again. Sometimes I have to reset the IIS. Its happening since I upgraded my .Net framework from 1.1 to 3.1

I'm going to be writing a small app based on the .NET SerialPort class.
Is there a generic dialog available for setting the port settings, ala baud rate, data bits, stop bit, parity bit, flow control, etc? I didn't see one in the MSDN documentation, but I would think that one exists, since that stuff doesn't change.
I'm considering building a Church Management System (ChMS), essentially a CRM, but specifically tailored for churches. I've looked at several existing CRM and open source ChMS solutions but have not been satisfied with any of them. Before I start writing something from the ground up - I was wondering if anyone was aware of an open source asp.net application that might be a good fit for this project? Particularly, the application needs to perform CRUD and optimally allow for dynamic user-based creation/editing of fields associated with contacts etc.
Hi,
I'm thinking of developing the following but wondering if it already exists out there:
I need a SQL based solution for assigning and managing localization text values for an asp.net site instead of using RESX files. This helps maintain text on the site without having to take it down for deployment whenever an update is required.
Thanks.

I couldn't find any documentation around using multiple forms in an ASP.NET MVC 2 ViewModel approach.
i.e. In the built in application when you select New MVC2 web app, the register page uses a ViewPage which inherits like this:-
Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage"
I wanted to use that approach on a page with multiple forms, but that RegisterModel only supported one form.
Hi,
I am planning to buy a new laptop to learn asp.net web applications and also windows applications. Do we get IIS7 installed when we buy the home edition of windows 7 or should we buy windows 7 professional version?
I have a submit button which has been working to submit my form in ASP.NET-MVC.
I would like to attach a jQuery dialog to the button click. If the user exits out of the dialog, then I would like to exit from the submit as well.
I have dialogs hooked to other buttons, but not submits. How can I do this?
Google's Closure Library looks like it has a lot of great features, but I'm not seeing any examples of it used with ASP.NET sites. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience using the two together and what parts. Is is a good or bad experience?
I've found what seems like a bizarre problem with IIS 6.0 and .NET 3.5. I always use the tilde for all URLs (eg: ~/mypage.aspx) so if I go to mydomain.com/mypage.aspx, everything works fine. If, however, I add a trailing slash and go to mydomain.com/mypage.aspx/, all links on the page which use the tilde get rendered as mydomain.com/mypage.aspx/otherpage.aspx instead of mydomain.com/otherpage.aspx.
This happens with all controls.
Has anyone had this issue before?
Can you please explain impersonation in the view of non-technical users.Then please explain it in .NET world.Impersonation is quite evil or good?.Do we apply it for FORMS AUTHENTICATION?
Hi,
I want to programatically create a directory on the server using ASP.NET.
I have done this using System.IO's Directory.CreateDirctory. however, the newly created folder is not accessible in the code.
after searching a bit, I came to know that the newly create folder is not included the project and hence not accessible.
Can anyone please help me out on this.
Thank You
I've been searching on how to do Unit testing and find thats is quite easy, but, what I want to know is, In a asp.net mvc application, what should be REALLY important to test and which methods you guys use?
I just can't find a clear answer on about WHAT TO REALLY TEST when programming unit tests.
I just don't want to make unecessary tests and loose developement time doing overkill tests.
I have a .net Console Application called FooConsole. When I build and deploy it, I see that the App.config file from my project is deployed to FooConsole.exe.config.
How can I deploy the .config file to Foo.config instead of FooConsole.exe.config and still have it read as the default .config file?
