  • What kind of hosting is used for *tube sites?

    - by playcat
Hello, When a site grows from a just-a-fun project to a site with bigger load of visitor, and you want to enable them to upload videos, you might find yourself in a need of a better hosting, including dedicated server and a no-limit web traffic (or some reasonable limit). So, if people can upload their videos, and if page has around 1000-10000 visitors per day, what kind of hosting is there to choose from? What is needed in that case? Thx

  • A few question about some advanced Autohotkey uses

    - by user47625
Hello, I'm using this wonderfull piece of software for some time now, but just for few quite basic things. So I'm wondering if these things would be possible: to use different set of shortcuts for different applications - so one shortcut performs different actions in different places. to make some form of modes for application, where you could use some swtch (vim style) and this would change things the shortucat would do if it would be possible to place some caption that indicates which mode you are using - little improvement of previous item I tkank everyone for answer.

    - by ShacharWeis
Hello We have kiosk computers scattered around the country, and are using VNC to control them. But VNC has limitations (only works if the OS is intact, for instance). I want to be able to control the computer even if it is stuck in boot. Is there a cheap hardware solution for remote controlling a PC ? Thanks.

  • ESXi VM NTP Server

    - by jstorch
Hello all. We need to setup an internal NTP server. Because this server will pretty much ONLY be a time server I was thinking of just creating a VM for it. However, Googling around it appears that there there might be serious clock drifting issues with VM servers. So, is running our NTP server in a VM a completely dumb idea? Thanks, John

  • Limiting network throughput of an already launched process ? (Linux/FreeBSD)

    - by jbdenis
Hello everybody, is there any utility to limit the network throughput of a process after it has been launched ? Simple example: you note that a user takes all your upload bandwidth using scp and you'd like to limit the rate or decrease the priority of the transfer. I guess i could use a combination of iptables/tc or pf to achieve that, but i was wondering if there is a "one-shot" tool available (like tickle with a --pid option ^^) ? Regards, Jean-Baptiste
