  • help me "dry" out this .net XML serialization code

    I have a base collection class and a child collection class, each of which are serializable. In a test, I discovered that simply having the child class's ReadXml method call base.ReadXml resulted in an InvalidCastException later on. First, here's the class structure: Base Class // Collection of Row objects [Serializable] [XmlRoot("Rows")] public class Rows : IList<Row>, ICollection<Row>, IEnumerable<Row>, IEquatable<Rows>, IXmlSerializable { public Collection<Row> Collection { get; protected set; } public void ReadXml(XmlReader reader) { reader.ReadToFollowing(XmlNodeName); do { using (XmlReader rowReader = reader.ReadSubtree()) { var row = new Row(); row.ReadXml(rowReader); Collection.Add(row); } } while (reader.ReadToNextSibling(XmlNodeName)); } } Derived Class // Acts as a collection of SpecificRow objects, which inherit from Row. Uses the same // Collection<Row> that Rows defines which is fine since SpecificRow : Row. The value of XmlNodeName and the new Row()/new SpecificRow() are the differences. How would you suggest I extract out all the common functionality of both versions of ReadXml? Would it be silly to create some generic class just for one method? Sorry for the lengthy code samples, I just wanted to provide the reason I can't simply call base.ReadXml from within SpecificRows.

  • Javascript AJAX function returns undefined instead of true / false

    I have a function that issues an AJAX call (via jQuery). In the complete section I have a function that says: complete: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus) { if(textStatus == "success") { return(true); } else { return(false); } } However, if I call this like so: if(callajax()) { // Do something } else { // Something else } The first is never called. If I put an alert(textStatus) in the complete function I get true, but not before that function returns undefined.

  • Back-to-back ajax long poll without a recursive callback function.

    I'm trying to make long poll ajax calls, back to back. The problem with the current way I'm doing it is that I make each successive call from the callback function of the previous call. Is this a problem? Firebug doesn't show any of my ajax calls as completed, even thought the data is returned and the callback is executed. The recursive structure seems inefficient. Any ideas?

It is concatenating each head of x in the same function call? How?

    In XP 32bit Visual Studio 2010 I get the error below when I start debugging with IntelliTrace enabled. Doesn't IntelliTrace work in Windows XP or is there some setting which causes this error? UPDATE: The error occurs when I choose the second option to add call information in the IntelliTrace settings. There's nothing in the event log about this error. The question now is how to find out why VS is having trouble adding call information.

  • Why does C# exit when calling the Ada elaboration routine using debug?

    I have a DLL created in Ada using GPS. I am dynamically loading it and calling it successfully both from Ada and from C++. But when I try to call it from C#, the program exits on the call to Elaboration init. What am I missing? The exact same DLL is perfectly happy getting called from C++ and Ada. Edit: If I start the program without Debugging, it also works with C#. But if I run it with the Debugger, then it exits on the call to ElaborationInit. There are no indications in any of the Windows event logs.     I have a program which does a system call: latex somefile.latex This runs ok, when I type it directly in the command line, or when i invoke the program via CGI. But when it is using FastCGI, the system call returns: This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.10 (TeX Live 2009) ---! Must increase the hyph_size (Fatal format file error; I'm stymied) I already tried to increase the hyph_size but still no effect.
