• Why is there no assertError() function in FlexUnit?

  It seems that most XUnit testing frameworks provide assertions for the times when you want to assert that a given operation will thrown an exception (or an Error in AS3 parlance.) Is there some "standard" way of doing this that I am overlooking, which would explain the absence of an assertError() assertion included with FlexUnit? I know HOW to implement such a thing, and I will probably add it to my FlexUnit (go open source!), but it seems like such a glaring omission that I'm left wondering if I'm just doing it wrong. Anyone have thoughts on this?

  Picture a terminal. There are two windows inside that terminal. One on top, one on bottom. The top one is much bigger. The top one receives asynchronous updates. The bottom one is for user input. It would work almost exactly the same as vim - the text editor. I'm writing this in Python. I'm guessing you would do this by using curses, but I'm not sure if it's possible.

• Using Mapkit to create a local searchable Map

  Using MapKit as a base, I'm planning on adding a map to a project with 'local search' capabilities. I think 'local search' describes the feature I want to design into the map. Here is my vision. The map is displayed on the bottom half of a view. The user's current location is highlighted by default. When the user pushes the 'search' button annotation pins drop onto the map. The search is programmatically fixed to a certain item....for example supermarkets. So supermarkets in a 5 mile radius of the user's current location will populate the map. How would I add this local search feature to the already amazing MapKit? I've learned an incredible amount as a new developer in the last few months, and look forward to learning googles...correction googols more. Thanks in anticipation.

  Hi. I am developing an Eclipse plug-in and I'd like to associate a new menu (at the top of the screen along with File, Edit etc) with a perspective I'm creating. I did the menu ok but it is being displayed even in other perspectives. How can I associate it only with my perspective?   I am trying to use Intellij's file templates (not live templates) to help mitigate how much boilerplate code I use when making Services, daos, and their interfaces. I am able to use all the system defined variables just fine, such as ${PACKAGE_NAME} What I want though, is to be able to use my own variable names, like ${MY_USER_INPUT} however, when i do this like above, I get an error The documentation says : It is also possible to specify arbitrary number of custom variables in format ${<VARIABLE_NAME>}. and then Intellij is supposed to prompt the user for the value. However, this just plain doesn't work for me. What am I missing?

• Using the FreeType lib to create text bitmaps to draw in OpenGL 3.x

  At the moment I not too sure where my problem is. I can draw loaded images as textures no problem, however when I try to generate a bitmap with a char on it I just get a black box. I am confident that the problem is when I generate and upload the texture. Here is the method for that; the top section of the if statement just draws an texture of a image loaded from file (res/texture.jpg) and that draws perfectly. And the else part of the if statement will try to generate and upload a texture with the char (variable char enter) on. • Tracking the user function that threw the exception

  I've been given a large application with only one try..catch at the outer most level. This application also throws exceptions all the time, and is poorly documented. Is there any pattern I can implement that will tell me what user method is being called, the exception being thrown, and also the count of exceptions? I'm thinking of using a dictionary with reflection to get the needed information, but I'm not sure if this will work. What do you think?

I have never worked on linux and dont plan on working on it either - The only command I probably know is "ls" :) I am hosting my website on Eapps and use their cpanel to setup everything so never worked with linux. Now I have this one time case - where I need to provide access to a contractor to fix the CSS issues on my website. He basically needs FTP (read/write) access to certain folders. At a high level - this is my code structure /home/webadmin/example.com/html/images /css /js /login.php /facebook.php /home/webadmin/example.com/application/library /views /models /controllers /config /bootstrap.php /home/webadmin/example.com/cgi-bin I want the new user to be able to have access to only these folders /home/webadmin/example.com/html/js /home/webadmin/example.com/html/css /home/webadmin/example.com/application/views He should not be able to view even the content of other folders including files like bootstrap.php or login.php etc If any sys admins can help me set this account up - will really appreciate it. • Function-Local Static Const variable Initialization semantics.

  The questions are in bold, for those that cannot be bothered reading a question in depth. This is a followup to this question. It is to do with the initialization semantics of static variables in functions. Static variables should be initialized once, and their internal state might be altered later - as I (currently) do in the linked question. However, the code in question does not require the feature to change the state of the variable later. Let me clarrify my position, since I don't require the string object's internal state to change. The code is for a trait class for meta programming, and as such would would benifit from a const char * const ptr -- thus Ideally a local cost static const variable is needed. My educated guess is that in this case the string in question will be optimally placed in memory by the link-loader, and that the code is more secure and maps to the intended semantics. This leads to the semantics of such a variable "The C++ Programming language Third Edition -- Stroustrup" does not have anything (that I could find) to say about this matter. All that is said is that the variable is initialized once when the flow of control of the thread first reaches the code. This leads me to ponder if the following code would be sensible, and if not what are the intended semantics ?. #include <iostream> const char * const GetString(const char * x_in) { static const char * const x = x_in; return x; } int main() { const char * const temp = GetString("yahoo"); std::cout << temp << std::endl; const char * const temp2 = GetString("yahoo2"); std::cout << temp2 << std::endl; } The following compiles on GCC and prints "yahoo" twice. Which is what I want -- However it might not be standards compliant (which is why I post this question). It might be more elegant to have two functions, "SetString" and "String" where the latter forwards to the first. If it is standards compliant does someone know of a templates implementation in boost (or elsewhere) ?

The goal is to make it "self-respawning". I have some variants about how to do it. Bot is one process. Another process monitors its activity and starts it if bot died. Main process spawns bot subprocess and controls it. Also I think daemonizing bot process is useful here. Platform is Linux, as you could guess. What is the right way to solve this problem?

The tree control is completely binded (we don’t want populate on demand) with an Xmldatasource during a callback and then I call Panel.renderControl to return the response (HTML) to the client side callback handler. Problem: 1. The tree expand/collapse (on click of plus sign) is causing postback whereas when I normally bind a tree with xml during postback and without using renderControl of container control, the expand/collapse (on click of plus sign) is being handled at client side.
