  • Python Tkinter - Edit external object within event handler?

    Hey all, As the title says, I'm grabbing the cursor location within a motion triggered event handler in Tkinter. I'd like to update an existing label widget with the location, however I cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit the label's text field (or any external object for that matter) within the event handler. From what I understand, event is the only argument passed to the handler, which means I can't pass the label object. How do I access objects outside of the handler? Apologize for the noobish question as I'm a C programmer new to Python. Thanks!

    Simply put: I have a database design in my head and I now want to use Visual Studio 2010 to create a WPF application. Key is to use the VS2010 tools to take much as possible manual work out of my hands. -The database engine is SQLite -ORM probably through DBLINQ -Use of LINQ -The application can create new, empty database instances -Easily maintainable (changes in data model possible) Q- How do I start designing the database model (visually) in Visual Studio 2010? Should this be an xsd? Do I do this in a separate project? Q- Next, how can I make the most use of VS2010 code generation tools to generate a business layer? Q- I suppose the business layer will be added as a Data Source (in another project?) and from there it's a rather generic data binding solution? I tried finding clear examples of this but it's a jungle out there, the hunt for a solution is NOT converging to one clear method.... :_(

  • How to migrate data from a Firebird database to PostGreSQL on Linux

    Are there any good tools to migrate existing firebird databases to PostgreSQL for Linux systems? I've looked at: FBexport which can be used to dump the data as insert statements, but it's mainly written to export/import from one firebird db to another, not as a migration tool. There's also: Firebird to PostgreSQL Win32 tool, but it's only for win32 systems. Is there any good tool to do this? Or should I just roll my own?

    Dears, I am now making some RESTful web service with MySQL database. I used NetBeans to create the resources of RESTful service with MySQL, and now I can now using GET and POST/PUT to list and add/modify data entities in the MySQL server. Currently, I wish to make some calculations right after a client makes the POST activities, then the posted data with calculated results will be inserted into the MySQL database. I am very new to this, I guess I need to add some functions and call them to calculate but I don't know where and how to do that : ( Could any one help me on this issue?     Hi, I has a Django view which is accessed through an AJAX call. It's a pretty simple one — all it does is simply pass the request to a form object and save the data.   • curl object moved here error, bash

    I'm trying to download an html file with curl in bash. When I download it manually, it works fine. However, when i try and run my script through crontab, the output html file is very small and just says "Object moved to here." with a broken link. Does this have something to do with the sparse environment the crontab commands run it? I found this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1279340/php-ssl-curl-object-moved-error but i'm using bash, not php. What are the equivalent command line options or variables to set to fix this problem in bash? (I want to do this with curl, not wget)

  • Can I use imp/exp tools to migrate database from Oracle 9 to Oracle 10

    I'm subcontractor and my client wants to upgrade Oracle database from 9 to 10. Other vendor is going to perform the upgrade process, and I was asked to create whatever backup I need before the upgrade, and then recreate the environment in Oracle 10. All my data is stored in a separate database in a single schema. No fancy relations, scripts or anything like this (actual app supports different dbs: Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres so we want to avoid any DB-specific code). I was hoping to use imp/exp but I'm not sure if imp/exp are backward compatible (exp from O9 and imp to O10)? If there is a better/recommended way of dealing with similar situation, I'll be grateful for any advice.

I can see Firebug console outputs the route ids with no problem at all.     Hi, I am using Kohana V 3.0.3. I was looking for ACL library and found from http://dev.kohanaphp.com/projects A2 Kohana's ACL module. Apparently it's found that, it manages Roles,Resources and Rules using config file and authenticate object basis. I want it to be dynamic, like Resources and Rules should be loaded from database dynamically if valid user logs in. Auth part is done now looking for ACL part. Is it possible to use same A2 module with database or need to rewrite own logic?

I was told that for biztalk, logshipping is not like standard logshipping.   • Visual Studio 2010 and discovery of advantage server error

    I installed VS 2010 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. When I try and connect to an advantage database through the server explorer using the Advanatage OLEDB driver I get a cannot discover advantage database server error. I can connect to the database using the ARC just fine. I was able to connect in VS 2008 just fine. Any ideas on why I can't connect in VS 2010?

I have two database tables with thousands of data.. a table for "skills" and a table for "skills categories" every "skill" belongs to a skills categorie. a "skill" is , physicaly, a varchar(200) field in the database, where there is some text describing the skill.     I am having trouble getting mysql backups to run properly when their are views in the database. I think this might have something to do with needing a placeholder object for it. In any event I run this command: mysqldump -u myuser -pmypassword mydatabase | mysql -u myuser -pmypassword -C mydatabase_Beta The user has full privileges and I get this: View mydatabase_beta.yadayada references invalid tables or columns or functions or definer/invoker or view lack rights to use them. How can I back it up so that it restores all of my database properly? In the example I am restoring it to a different name but I do need to be able to restore a working copy. I think it is probably an additional mysqldump parameter or maybe hot copy would work better. Thoughts?

I'm looking to set up central performance monitoring of some boxes. 2K3 TS ( Monitor General OS Perf & Session Specific Counters ) 2K8 R2 ( XenApp 6 = Monitor General OS Perf & Session Specific Counters ) File Server ( Standard File I/O ) My ultimate aim is to get as many counters/information, without impacting the clients session experience at all. Including counters specific to their sessions. I was thinking it logging directly to a SQL on another server, instead of a two part process of blg file then relog to sql. Would that work ok? Does anyone know the overhead of going straight to SQL from the client? I've searched around a bit, but havent found so much information it can be overwhelming. thanks

    I have a one-to-one relationship in my database, and I'd like to just combine that into one object in Fluent NHibernate. The specific tables I am talking about are the aspnet_Users and aspnet_Membership tables from the default ASP.NET Membership implementation. I'd like to combine those into one simple User object and only get the fields I want. I would also like to make this read-only, as I want to use the built-in ASP.NET Membership API to modify. I simply want to take advantage of lazy-loading. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    I have a shared object ( libxyz.so ). Given LD_LIBRARY_PATH, how can find the exact location of this shared object? If i had a binary that depends on this lib, i would have used ldd on that. Here is the reason why i ask: I have a cgi script which works when using LD_LIBRARY_PATH set to say VALUE1. It does not work when the path is set to VALUE2. I would like to find the exact location of the library as specified by the path in VALUE1 ( Note that VALUE1 has almost 20+ different locations ) Platform: Linux

  • Associating multiple data with a single entry in Open Office Base

    I'm trying to build a database that I can use to track prices of groceries on certain dates. My problem is that I cannot figure out how to have a single entry associate with multiple data. For example, carrots. The index would be carrots. Then, a few categorizing fields (ie, Produce|Vegetable) Then, I can enter a price, date that the price was valid, store that was selling for said price, etc. And the next time I buy carrots, I can just add a new set of pricing data that would be associated with the original carrots entry. I know very little about database building, so if anyone has something I could just modify, I would greatly appreciate it. Alternatively, a step by step tutorial would be great.
