  I am looking for a chat room solution similar to the one on StackExchange to facilitate more responsive communication between the contributors on Open-Org.com. My criteria are the following: No Flash (this rules out more than half) Full history (meaning that it is possible to access all previous conversation for future reference. Very customizable No ugly IRC stuff filling up the chat view (I do not want to see who joined an who left etc.) No private conversations possible (this is just not in the spirit of Open-org.com) A hosted solution with a reasonable price. These criteria are so different from this question, so this is not a duplicate question. The service which matches this the closest is Chatroll.com. However, at 199$ per month their prices are outrageous.

• Error when compiling bochs

  I'm trying to compile bochs. Here is my configure command: ./configure --enable-fpu --enable-3dnow --enable-x86-64 --enable-a20-pin --enable-cdrom --enable-debugger --enable-debugger-gui --enable-disasm Then I enter the "make" command and it compiles for some time. But then comes an error. /usr/bin/ld: gui/libgui.a(gtk_enh_dbg_osdep.o): undefined reference to symbol 'pthread_create@@GLIBC_2.2.5' //lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0: error adding symbols: DSO missing from command line collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [bochs] Error 1 Can anybody help me with this error? • PATH command not found

  Hi, I'm not experienced with PATH (Any good reference would be appreciated), but I made a mistake and did PATH=/google_appengine, which I'm assuming completely overrid PATH. Still, I restarted bash and echo'd PATH and found that the folders were back. mark@mark-laptop:~$ echo $PATH /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games However, when I then tried to append to it, I got an error that PATH wasn't found. • Is there a sequence to read through the Android Developer Site for a user new to Android?

  I keep seeing that I don't need to buy an android development book, that I should just read the Android Developer Site site because it has everything I need to know. I see it more as drinking from a fire hose. But I'm one of those people who likes to be walked thru the basics. I like to build up my knowledge, rather than being dropped into reference documentation. I also like to make sure I have see all/most of the topics covered. I'd hate to develop the wrong thing because I don't know about Fragments, Content Providers, or whatever. So, since it's a great resource, better than any book (we don't need no stinkin books), how do I traverse the site to get the information provide in the same way as a book would lay it out?

  Following my last posts on Change Data Capture and Change Tracking, here is another tip regarding tracking changes: table and colum checksums. The concept is: each time a column value changes, the checksum also changes. You can use this simple method to see if a table has changed very easily, however, beware, different column values may generate the same checksum. • Hard Copies VS Soft Copies

  Where do you draw the line and say, "OK, I'm actually going to print out this piece of code, spec, formula, or other info and carry it around but these pieces can stay on disk." Well, more importantly why do you draw the line there? I've encountered this a number of times and have some sort of vague conceptions beyond "oh now I'm REALLY stuck, better print this out." I've also found some quicksheets of basic specs to be handy. Really though, I have no particular logic behind what is useful to physically have available in the design and development process. I have a great pile of 'stuff' papers that seemed at least partially relevant at the time, but I only really use about a third of them ever and often end up wishing I had different info on hand. Edit: So this is what I'm hearing in a nutshell: Major parts of the design pattern Common, fairly static and prominently useful code (reference or specs) Some representation of data useful in collaborating or sharing with team Extreme cases of tough problem solving Overwhelmingly,almost never print anything.

• Dynamic MMap ran out of room when trying to sudo apt-get anything

  I was having an error in Update Manager that asks me to do a partial upgrade and it fails. Now I can't sudo apt-get install anything. I tried to fix it, and now I can't sudo apt-get anything. Every time, I get this output: Reading package lists... Error! E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room. Please increase the size of APT::Cache-Limit. Current value: 25165824. (man 5 apt.conf) E: Error occurred while processing libuptimed0 (NewVersion1) E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_universe_binary-i386_Packages W: Unable to munmap E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. I have no idea why this is happening or how to fix it, and I fear that if I try something that probably doesn't work that it will make my problem worse. (Just for reference I am currently running 10.04 (Lucid) on my machine.)

When creating a large(ish) site, page titles usually reference both the site name and the current page name. However, it seems there are two main conventions: Bob's Awesome Site - Contact Page and Contact Page - Bob's Awesome Site I've looked around, and pages usually use one of the two variants above. Is there any reason to use one over the other? SEO/readability/usability/etc? I've thought about it, and have only come up with: Page first - Differentiates the tab when the browser is crowded with lots of tabs Site first - Immediately see the "parent" site, so to speak; more cohesive experience

• At what size of data does it become beneficial to move from SQL to NoSQL?

  As a relational database programmer (most of the time), I read articles about how relational databases don't scale, and NoSQL solutions such as MongoDB do. As most of the databases I have developed so far have been small to mid scale, I have never had a problem that hasn't been solved by some indexing, query optimization or schema redesign. What sort of size would I expect to see MySQL struggling with. How many rows? (I know this is going to depend on the application, and type of data stored. the one that got me thing was basically a genetics database, so would have one main table, with 3 or 4 lookup tables. The main table will contain amongst other things, a chromosome reference, and a position coordinate. It will likely get queried for a number of entries between two potions on a chromosome, to see what is stored there).

• How do I dynamically reload content files?

  Is there a relatively simple way to dynamically reload content files, such as effect files? I know I can do the following: Detect change of file Run content pipeline to rebuild that specific file Unload ALL content that was loaded Load all content And use double references to reference content files. The problem is with step 3 (and step 2 isn't that nice either). I need to unload everything because if I have model Hero.x which references Model.fx effect, and I change the Model.fx file, I need to reload the Hero.x file which will then call LoadExternalReference on Model.fx. Has someone managed to make this work without rewriting the whole ContentManager (and every ContentReader) and tracking calls to LoadExternalReference?

I DO NOT want to use someone else's library to learn this stuff, that bothers me SOOO much. So I was hoping there was a newer book that goes into detail, and doesn't use some sort of library "Hiding" everything from you. Or should I just look at older material? If so....anything thats not "too" out of date. Terrain tutorials are a plus (that's kinda my "goal"). Thanks

I know some basic anatomy as you can see by the picture but I have no idea how I will make draw the pics for animation of the character walking, attacking with his sword and protecting himself with shield. Is there any anatomy reference for 2d game out there, book or anything else? for your information, I did try to find but all of stuff I found are very amateur and incomplete The picture was my attempt of creating a example of the character walking, which I'm not happy with please help, thanks Update: Since I am in a hurry I decided I would copy the anatomy from other 2d games, it is not that clean but at least I wanna be able to start it. • Wireless networks are not detected at start up in Ubuntu 12.04

  I have recently (three four days ago) installed Ubuntu 12.04 via windows installer i.e. wubi.exe. After the installation completed wireless and Ethernet were both working well. But after restart wireless networks didn't show up while in the network manager both networking and wireless were enabled. Though sometimes after boot it did show the networks available but very rarely. So I went through various posts regarding wireless issues in Ubuntu 12.04 and tried so many things but ended up in nothing satisfactory. I have Broadcom 4313 LAN network controller and brcmsmac driver. Then relying on some suggestions I tried to install bcm-wl driver but couldn't install due to some error in jockeyl.log file. Then i tried fresh installation of the same driver but still could resolve the startup issues with wireless. Then again I reinstalled Ubuntu inside windows using wubi installer. This time again same problem occurred after boot. But this time I successfully installed wl driver before disturbing file-system files of Ubuntu. But again the same issue. This time I noticed some new things: If I inserted Ethernet/LAN cable before startup then wireless networks are available and of course LAN(wired) networks also work. but if i don't plug in cable before startup and then plug it after startup then it didn't detect Ethernet network neither wireless. So I haven't noticed it before that LAN along with wifi also doesn't work after startup. But if i suspend the session and make it sleep and again login then it worked. I tried it every time that WLAN worked perfectly. But still i m unable to resolve that startup problem. Each time i boot first I have to suspend it once then only networks are available. It irritates me each time i reboot/boot my lappy. So please help out of this problem. Any ideas/help regarding this issue would be highly appreciated.
