• Service-Oriented Architecture and Web Services

  Service oriented architecture is an architectural model for developing distributed systems across a network or the Internet. The main goal of this model is to create a collection of sub-systems to function as one unified system. This approach allows applications to work within the context of a client server relationship much like a web browser would interact with a web server. In this relationship a client application can request an action to be performed on a server application and are returned to the requesting client. It is important to note that primary implementation of service oriented architecture is through the use of web services. Web services are exposed components of a remote application over a network. Typically web services communicate over the HTTP and HTTPS protocols which are also the standard protocol for accessing web pages on the Internet.  These exposed components are self-contained and are self-describing.  Due to web services independence, they can be called by any application as long as it can be accessed via the network.  Web services allow for a lot of flexibility when connecting two distinct systems because the service works independently from the client. In this case a web services built with Java in a UNIX environment not will have problems handling request from a C# application in a windows environment. This is sometimes caused by too large TCP MSS values on the client side for PPPoE networks which cannot transport full-sized packets, or by clients sending requests by hand and not typing fast enough, or forgetting to enter the empty line at the end of the request. • How do I get a .Net 4.0 app to coexist as an application under a SharePoint 2007 website in IIS v7?

  I have created a small .Net 4.0 website and installed it on my SharePoint server as a separate web site in IIS v7 (using port 8008 for now). I had to install the .Net 4 framework, set up the database, etc. and this all went smoothly and my app works as a standalone website. Now I am trying to get pages from my website to show up in SharePoint 2007. For various reasons (the SharePoint site is using SSL, security, etc.) I now need to move my .Net app to run under the SharePoint 2007 site in IIS. I have added it as an 'Application' and set it up with the same .Net v4 application pool and settings that were working when it was set up as a standalone site. Now when I try to access the application I get the error at the end of this description. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I already tried following the instructions on this post: http://blogs.msdn.com/sgoodyear/archive/2007/05/07/custom-web-applications-coexisting-with-sharepoint-2007.aspx but that did not help. Thanks! • Parsing HTML Documents with the Html Agility Pack

  Screen scraping is the process of programmatically accessing and processing information from an external website. For example, a price comparison website might screen scrape a variety of online retailers to build a database of products and what various retailers are selling them for. Typically, screen scraping is performed by mimicking the behavior of a browser - namely, by making an HTTP request from code and then parsing and analyzing the returned HTML. The .NET Framework offers a variety of classes for accessing data from a remote website, namely the WebClient class and the HttpWebRequest class. These classes are useful for making an HTTP request to a remote website and pulling down the markup from a particular URL, but they offer no assistance in parsing the returned HTML. Instead, developers commonly rely on string parsing methods like String.IndexOf, String.Substring, and the like, or through the use of regular expressions. Another option for parsing HTML documents is to use the Html Agility Pack, a free, open-source library designed to simplify reading from and writing to HTML documents. The Html Agility Pack constructs a Document Object Model (DOM) view of the HTML document being parsed. With a few lines of code, developers can walk through the DOM, moving from a node to its children, or vice versa. Also, the Html Agility Pack can return specific nodes in the DOM through the use of XPath expressions. (The Html Agility Pack also includes a class for downloading an HTML document from a remote website; this means you can both download and parse an external web page using the Html Agility Pack.)   Hi I would like to have a http POST request method CAPTURE filter I know it is easy to do it by display filter http.request.method==POST but I need tcpdump compatible I wrote tcp dst port 80 and (tcp[13] = 0x18) But it is not perfect... tcp dst port 80 and (tcp[((tcp[12:1] & 0xf0) 2):4] = 0x504f5354) works better, but... packages are not treated as a http packages, so I can not do my further display filters... and is there any way to not display frame, tcp, ip and http header information, only data-text-lines field value (content of POST)? or same thing in tcpdump, only dumping of POSTed html form content?

• Luminis and Google Apps Single Sign On

  We are a community college that is plodding forward with a Google Apps for Education implementation. There is support for Single Sign On and a fair amount of documentation for implementing it. We are looking to provide integration with our portal which is currently Luminis 3 (we are upgrading to Luminis 4 within a year). There is documentation available for Luminis specific integration, but apparently it is by request only. I have put the request in to SungardHE (where we license Luminis) and am waiting for a response. My questions are as follows... Is anyone here running Luminis? Have you tried to integrate it with a 3rd party email service like Google Apps for Education or Microsoft LiveEDU? If so, can you elaborate on implementation details above and beyond your Luminis installation and Google Apps setup? Looking for more of a general road map and differences between integration options with Luminis 3 and Luminis 4. Thanks!

• Using mod_rewrite for a RESTful api

  Say the user is making a request to the following url: "http://api.example.com/houses/123/abc" That request needs to map to "/webroot/index.php" and 'houses', '123', 'abc' need to be able to be parsed out of the URL in that index.php. It also can't alter the http headers or body. There can be any number of variables after the domain ie) "http://api.example.com/houses/1234/abc/zxy/987" I think I already have all requests being sent to webroot using: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteCond $0 !^webroot/ RewriteRule .* webroot/$0 [L] </IfModule> Which appears to be working but I am not sure if it is correct. But now I am at a loss as to how to take the next step as mentioned above. Thanks in advance!

I assume it is the application data which gets exchanged with this request, am I right in this? If not, what else gets transferred over this, what is contained in the response? • Setting up Github post-receive webhook with private Jenkins and private repo

  I'm trying to set up a private GitHub project to send a post-receive request to a private Jenkins instance to trigger a project build on branch push. Using latest Jenkins with the GitHub plugin. I believe I set up everything correctly on the Jenkins side because when sending a request from a public server with curl like this: curl http://username:password@ipaddress:port/github-webhook/ results in: Stacktrace: net.sf.json.JSONException: null object which is fine because the JSON payload is missing. Sending the wrong username and password in the URI results in: Exception: Failed to login as username I interpret this as a correct Jenkins configuration. Both of these requests also result in entries in the Jenkins log. However, when pasting the exact same URI from above into the Github repository Post-Receive URLs Service Hook and clicking on Test Hook, absolutely nothing seems to happen on my server. Nothing in the Jenkins log and the GitHub Hook Log in the Jenkins project says Polling has not run yet. I have run out of ideas and don't know how to proceed further.

I went through some headache also when we were trying to figure out how to make it work with lighttpd. this is the line that helps make it work in lighttpd. url.rewrite-once = ( ".*\?(.*)$" => "/index.php?$1", "^/js/.*$" => "$0", "^.*\.(js|ico|gif|jpg|png|css|swf |jar|class)$" => "$0", "" => "/index.php" ) but I couldn't figure out how to make it works in NginX. The webserver run just fine when we use the phpinfo.php test file. However as soon as I point it to my apps, nothing comes up. Check the error.log file and there's no error. Very mind boggling. I spent over 1 week trying to figure it out with no luck.. Please help?

  I'd like to know if it will work: I have my domain and I´m serving a webpage in a nginx to the internet, but if I type my domain in my laptop inside LAN I access to my modem/router configuration, I cannot access to the web server unless I type the IP address. I would like to add a Bind server after the modem/router - (port forward, ports 80 and 5060), if the request is www.mydomain.com bind should resolve the nginx IP address and serve it, and if it is a voip request should address to the voip server and if I'd like to access to the website from inside LAN I'd like to type mydomain.com. Could I do it with this configuration? Do I need something else? Thanks in advace!

• The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle Client

  There was a recent upgrade of the Oracle client on a production web server housing serveral app pools each containing multiple web sites.  The upgrade consisted of adding the 11.2 client tools on the web server, but leaving the 9.2 and 10.2 versions alone.   After learning the upgrade occured, I updated Oracle.DataAccess.dll on my site to the 11.2 dll, and the web site ran smoothly.   The next day I discover the site is throwing an error:   Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException:   The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle Client   The App Pool will connect with an installed version of the Oracle client provider, and coordinate database interactions.  If a request comes in for a web site configured using an earlier version of the provider, that is the version the App Pool will use for Oracle interactions.  If a request is made for a site configured for a different version of the provider, the App Pool will see a conflict and throw the above error.   This web site: http://splinter.com.au/blog/?p=156 described the steps to grab the DLLs for a provider and bring them local (for Oracle 11.1), but even when I brought the DLLs for the Oracle Provider into the local bin directory, the App Pool would still determine the version of the oracle client and continue to throw the exception.   My only resolution for the above problem has been to have dedicated IIS app pools per version of Oracle client being leveraged.

  Is there a way to log 301 redirects returned by IIS with the (1) request Url and the (2) location Url of the response? Something like this: Url, Location /about-us, /about /old-page, /new-page The IIS logs contain the Request Url and the status code (301), but not the location Url of the response. Ideally there would be an additional field in the IIS Log called Location that would be populated when IIS responded with a 301. In my case the source of the redirect could be ISAPI Rewrite Rules, ASP.NET applications, Cold Fusion applications, or IIS itself. Perhaps there is a way to log IIS response data? • Apache default NameVirtualHost does not work

  Hello, I have 4 Name Virtual Hosts on my apache configuration, each one using proxy_http to forward request to the correct server. They work fine. <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName application_name.domain.tld ProxyRequests Off ProxyPreserveHost On ProxyPass / http://server_ip/ ProxyPassReverse / http://server_ip/ </VirtualHost> I then tried to add a default NameVirtualHost to take care of the requests for which the server name does not match one of the four others. Otherwise a request like some_weird_styff.domain.tld would be forwarded to one of the 4 VH. I then added this one: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAlias "*" DocumentRoot /var/www/ </VirtualHost> At the beginning it seemed to work fine, but at some point it appears that the requests that should be handed by one of the 4 regular hosts is "eaten" by the default one !!! If I a2dissite this default host, everything is back to normal... I do not really understand this. If you have any clue... thanks a lot, Luc
