    Hi to all. In my app i record and play audio at the same time. The app is almost finished. But there is one thing, that annoying me. When audio session is set to PlayAndRecord, sounds become quiet in comparison with the same sounds with the SoloAmbient category. Is there any way to make sound louder using PlayAndRecord?

  • UTF-8 - Oracle issue

    I set my NLS_LANG variable as 'AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8' in the perl file that connects to oracle and tries to insert the data. However when I insert a record with one value having this 'ñ' character the sql fails. But if I use 'Ñ' it inserts just fine. What am I doing wrong here?

    I know that it's possible to get this information - Intel's own TurboBoost sidebar gadget appears to use an ActiveX control to determine the current clock speed of an i3/i5/i7 CPU when TurboBoost is active. However, I'm wanting to do this programmatically in C# - obtaining the CurrentClockSpeed value from WMI tops out at the set maximum clock speed of the CPU, so in TurboBoost mode, it doesn't report the current actual clock speed.

    I have the following transaction: SQL inserts a 1 new record into a table called tbl_document SQL deletes all records matching a criteria in another table called tbl_attachment SQL inserts multiple records into the tbl_attachment Until this transaction finishes, I don't want others users to be aware of the (1) new records in tbl_document, (2) deleted records in tbl_attachment, and (3) modified records in tbl_attachment. Would Read Committed Isolation be the correct isolation level?

  • linq to sql with nservicebus table lock issue

    I am building a system using NServiceBus and my DataLayer is using Linq 2 SQL. The system is made up of 2 services. Service1 receives messages from NSB. It will query Table1 in my database and inserts a record into Table1 If a certain condition is met a new NSB message is sent to the 2nd service Service2 will update records also in Table1 when it receives messages from Service1 and it does some other non database related work. Service2 is a long running process. The problem I am having is the moment Service2 updates a record in Table1, the table is locked. The lock seems to be in place until Service2 has completed all it is processing. i.e. The lock is not released after my datacontext is disposed. This causes the query in Service1 to timeout. Once Service2 completes processing, Service1 resumes processing again without problem. So for example Service1 code may look like: int x =0; using (DataContext db = new DataContext()) { x = (from dp in db.Table1 select dp).Count(); // this line will timeout while service2 is processing Table1 t = new Table1(); t.Data = "test"; db.Table1.InsertOnSubmit(t); db.SubmitChanges(); } if(x % 50 == 0) CallService2(); The code in service2 may look like: using (DataContext db = new DataContext()) { Table1 t = db.Table1.Where(t => t.id == myId); t.Data = "updated"; db.SubmitChanges(); } // I would have expected the lock to have been released at this point, but this is not the case. DoSomeLongRunningTasks(); // lock will be released once service2 exits I don't understand why the lock is not released when the datacontext is disposed in Service2. To get around the problem I have been calling: db.ExecuteCommand("SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED"); and this works, but I am not happy using it. I want to solve this problem properly. Has any one experienced this sort of problem before and does any one know how to solve it? Why is the lock not released after the datacontext has been disposed?   • Are GUID primary keys bad in theory, or just practice?

    Whenever I design a database I automatically start with an auto-generating GUID primary key for each of my tables (excepting look-up tables) I know I'll never lose sleep over duplicate keys, merging tables, etc. To me it just makes sense philosophically that any given record should be unique across all domains, and that that uniqueness should be represented in a consistent way from table to table. I realize it will never be the most performant option, but putting performance aside, I'd like to know if there are philosophical arguments against this practice?

  • Continuous Form, how to add/update records with external connection

    EDIT After some more research I found that I cannot use a continuous form with an unbound form since it can only reference a single record at a time. Given that I've altered my question... I have a sample form that pulls out data to enter into a table as an intermediary. Initially the form is unbound and I open connections to two main recordsets. I set the listbox's recordset equal to one of them and the forms recordset equal to the other. The problem is that I cannot add records or update existing ones. Attempting to key into the fields does nothing almost as if the field was locked (Which it is not). Settings of the recordsets are OpenKeyset and LockPessimistic. Tables are not linked, they come from an outside access database seperate from this project and must remain that way. I am using an adodb connection to get the data. Could the separation of the data from the project be causing this? Is there an event that occurs or something? (And just for the record, I know that these sorts of things are impossible when other apps post on my behalf, at least from an extension perspective.   • Specify ApplicationName when using ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool

    This tool is supposed to configure users and roles etc., but when I use it on a new web site, with a new aspnetdb database, it adds a record to the aspnet_Applications table with the ApplicationName and the LoweredApplicationName fields set to /. I think it would make more sense if it actually used the application name, i.e. the web site name. Can I safely just change the application name? Is there a better way of configuring these things?
