• Home directory messed up

  Recently, I installed Ubuntu 12.04. For some reason, i backed-up my home directory contents to another directory(say bkp dir). Precisely, I moved Documents, Pictures, Downloads, etc.. to bkp directory. Now, Deleted all my original home directory contents. I restored all the bkp directory content back to home. I find them all on my Desktop. I believe some kinda chain is broken. I dont find respective home directories icons on them. How do i restore it? Also, i dont find them in my places options.   I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 running the stock Samsung ROM and I'm trying to transfer files - videos, photos, music and downloads, from my handset to my system via USB running Ubuntu 12.04. I have followed to links suggested How to connect Samsung Galaxy S3 via USB? But it all goes over my head. Can anyone help me with a simple GUI program or a link so I can simply copy and paste selected files from my phone onto my system?

• Evolution not downloading messages for offline use

  Even though I've selected "Copy folder content locally for offline operation" on my inbox and "Automatically synchronize account locally" in my account options, Evolution still only downloads headers for my inbox. When I click an email, its downloaded from the server. I want all my emails to be available to read offline - As far as I know this should be possible, so is my configuration that's wrong, or is it a bug?

• Google crawling the site but refusing to index dynamic content

  I am trying to get Google to index an AJAX site (davidelifestyle.com). It's crawlable with JavaScript turned off and I have also recently implemented _escaped_content_ snapshot mechanism but all that's indexed is a home page and PDF files that are not directly available from the home page. Also when I use Fetch as Google in Webmaster Tools, it downloads the dynamic page but does not index it ("Submit to Index" just reloads the page). Any ideas what might be wrong?

Some of these indications are not confined to the old Notification Area: others can be found on their own windows and indicate running processes, such as Nautilus copying some files, Firefox performing downloads or Brasero burning a DVD. I have seen a series of mockups showcasing mockups for a progress indicator: I would like to know if there are any actual plans to create a real progress indicator to house this type of indications.

  The beta for BIDS Helper 1.6 was just released. We have not updated the version notification just yet as we would like to get some feedback on people's experiences with the SQL 2012 version. So if you are using SQL 2012, go grab it and let us know how you go (you can post a comment on this blog post or on the BIDS Helper site itself). This is the first release that supports SQL 2012 and consequently also the first release that runs in Visual Studio 2010. A big thanks to Greg Galloway for doing the bulk of the work on this release. Please note that if you are doing an xcopy deploy that you will need to unblock the files you download or you will get a cryptic error message. This appears to be caused by a security update to either Visual Studio or the .Net framework – the xcopy deploy instructions have been updated to show you how to do this. Below are the notes from the release page. ====== This beta release is the first to support SQL Server 2012 (in addition to SQL Server 2005, 2008, and 2008 R2).   am using ubuntu 12.04 and am trying to install pcre however I encountered an error message when I tried to use the command: sudo make after the ./configure command. • My home folder disappeared after using Chroot/debootstrap. Can it be recovered?

  I was following the instructions from http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit but stopped after cloning wine. Afterwards I closed the terminal and terminated the process when asked. Ubuntu threw up an error report and when I tried to cd to ~/Downloads it was gone, along with all the other directories. So I tried restarting Ubuntu, whereupon I was greeted with the default desktop and home directory. Can I recover my home folder or has it been deleted?

  I think I covered it in the title, Right now both monitors are mirrored (both 19" at 1440x900). I guess what I need to know is do I need the ATI proprietary driver or will the open source driver from Ubuntu (additional drivers) work? I want to expand the desktop between the two monitors. Now my Downloads folder which had at least 60-80GB of data is completely cleaned but the system is not reporting the available the correct free space. Is there way to restore the contents of the folder only as the solution available are for the whole partition. I just want to recover the contents from one folder.

• How to interpret Events from Unique Events in Google Analytics?

  I'm trying to add some javascript triggered Google Analytics events to a website that is already working with GA. I've included the following beneath the standard GA script (new ga.js script). _gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Downloads', 'Extension']); Which seems to be working ok, but the results listed in the Events Overview report (after waiting 24 hours), don't make sense. • Small (and fixed) Bug in IdentityServer v1.0

  It was brought to my attention that fedutil does not work anymore with IdSrv v1 metadata. And I can confirm that. The reason for this bug is my recent change to the XmlWriter factory methods which have a different default behavior when it comes to encoding. Since there were only 20 downloads so far – I fixed the bug in-place (shame on me). So when you are one of the early adopters and run into this problem – just re-download IdSrv ;) HTH

  I've heard that Apple pays the developers in lump sums (I forget how often) for their app downloads. My question is does Google work the same way with Android? If not, how do they operate their payment system? Kind of a side question as well, but how do Apple and Google get you the money from other countries? Do they automatically convert it for you and take a cut for swapping the currency or is that your job?
