    - by Srikanth
I am looking at various options to implement a spellchecker in our ASP.NET 3.5 application. This applicaition is to be used worldwide so a wide language support is important. Can you guys suggest the best possible controls for this purpose? Currently, we are evaluating Obout and Telerik suites. Are there better alternatives, given that spellcheck is our primary goal? thanks

  • Clear Asp.Net cache from outside of application (not using source code)

    - by TheJudge
Hi, I have a asp.net web application and I'm using cache (HttpRuntime.Cache) to save some stuff from db. I also update db from time to time so that data in db does not match the data in my application's cache. Is there any way how to clear my application's cache without modifying any source code or republishing the page? I tried to restart IIS and to clear browsers cache but nothing helps. Please help.

    - by bergin
Hi, Was wondering if there are any transactions support in asp.net for MVC 2? i.e. commit & rollback? I have a few slightly risky db transacts which i'd prefer firmed up with transactions. could the system transactions namespace be incorporated into a respository of db calls?

  • Why is TransactionScope using a distributed transaction when I am only using LinqToSql and Ado.Net

    - by Ian Ringrose
We are having problems on one machine, with the error message: "MSDTC on server XXX is unavailable." The code is using a TransactionScope to wrap some LingToSql database code; there is also some raw Ado.net inside of the transaction. As only a single sql database (2005) is being accessed, why is a distributed transaction being used at all? (I don’t wish to know how to enable MSDTC, as the code needs to work on the server with their current setup)

  • Convert Unix Epoch Time to Seconds in SQL or .NET

    - by user293249
First let me thank you all for your help. What I need is a function that takes in a EPOCH time stamp, like 1452.235687 and converts it to a readable timestamp like '01-01-1970 00:00:00'. More specifically I only need the time not the date. If at all possible I would prefer a .NET function instead of a SQL stored procedure. However an SQL stored procedure would work fine as well. Thank you again,

  • How long will an ASP.NET MVC application run

    - by Christoph
I wonder how long will an ASP.NET (MVC) application run, when no new requests come in? Lets say I'm using an IOC Container ans have a Singleton Object serving to the clients. As far as I know it will serve different page requests. But how long will it live when no new request come in? Is there any timeout (maybe configured through IIS) that says when my app will shut down?

Found a couple of programs that do the job, but either in application and/or too expensive: * http://www.softservice.org/products_camsplitter.html (9.99$/installation) * splitcamera.com (program, no SDK available) All idea's are welcome

  • How to inherit constructors with arguments in .NET?

    - by Soumya92
I have a "MustInherit" .NET class which declares a constructor with an integer parameter. However, Visual Studio gives me an error when I create any derived class stating that there is no constructor that can be called without any arguments. Is it possible to inherit the constructor with arguments? Right now, I have to use Public Sub New(ByVal A As Integer) MyBase.New(A) End Sub in the derived classes. Is there any way to avoid this?

  • No postback on any button click on ASP.NET 4.0 application

    - by Ashish Gupta
The weird thing is If there is a javascript onClick() on a button, postback works otherwise, there is no postback. This was working very recently. I am not sure what recent changes made to the application made this happening throughout the site. The solution suggested by this link does not work as well (that link is applicable to .NET 1.1 though). Any idea whats going on?

    - by user205077
I have created a progress bar custom control and would like to embed this into a list which can be sorted and placed on a windows form using .Net 2.0. What is the best approach for this? Is it possible to just add it to a ListView as a subitem? Is there a better way to achieve this? I want it to be as lightweight as possible.
