  • post object to wcf rest service

    - by gleasonomicon
I'm using the WCF Rest service application project template in visual studio. I'm just learning about REST, and I was wondering how I would post a SampleItem object to the following method: [WebInvoke(UriTemplate = "", Method = "POST")] public SampleItem Create(SampleItem instance) { // TODO: Add the new instance of SampleItem to the collection throw new NotImplementedException(); } I get the general concepts of gets for the purposes of grabbing data, but I'm not sure how I would post the object in code (or just through a browser for testing) to the service.

  • Store an image in a SQL Server CE database

    - by Vaccano
Does any one know of an example on how to store an image in a SQL Server CE database? What data type should the column be? (I am guessing binary.) I use Linq-To-Datasets. Is it possible using that to put the image into the database and pull it out again later? Thanks for any advice.

  • Call Dispose() on a WindowsIdentity object? C#

    - by Andy
I am retrieving a WindowsIdentity object by calling: win_id = System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent(); with the intention of getting the currently logged on user name, which works fine. WindowsIdentity implements IDisposable, but since I din't create the object myself, do I still need to call .Dispose() on it when I am finished with it or not? Thanks.

  • Object responsibilities - list and item

    - by Mark Tyler
My question is more like a theoretical. Say you have an object, that represents the list of something (articles, pages, accounts etc.) class ObjCollection You have a class, that represents a specific item in collection: class objItem I have a problem thinking of a basic responsibilities of each object. Which class is responsible for creating a new objItem? Which class is responsible for deleting a objItem? Should it delete itself as a method?

  • how to save html to a database field

    - by ooo
i have an tiny editor web page where my users can use this editor and i am saving the html into my database. i am having issues saving this html to my database. for example if there is a name with a "'" or if there are other html character "<,","" etc, my code seems to blow up on the insert. Is there any best practices about taking any arbitrary html and have it persist fully to a db field without worrying about any specific characters.

  • Passing a complex object to a page while navigating in a WP7 Silverlight application

    - by Andreas Grech
I have been using the NavigationService's Navigate method to navigate to other pages in my WP7 Silverlight app: NavigationService.Navigate(new Uri("/Somepage.xaml?val=dreas", UriKind.Relative)); From Somepage.xaml, I then retrieve the query string parameters as follows: string val; NavigationContext.QueryString.TryGetValue("val", out val); I now need a way to pass a complex object using a similar manner. How can I do this without having to serialize the object every time I need to pass it to a new page?

Hello everyone, I'm trying to draw objects using Bezier surfaces with openGL's evaluators. I am struggling with defining the control points for my objects. Can anyone please suggest ways to get the control points for an object? Is there some program that I can use to design my object then import the control points into a file that I can use in my application?

  • Object of an abstract class

    - by webgenius
Why is it not possible to create an object of an abstract class? I understand that the compiler creates a VTABLE with VPTR pointing to NULL. Does this prevent from creating an object of an abstract class?

  • turn array into object active record can use

    - by stormdrain
I'm running a query and then decrypting it in the controller. After it is decrypted I was putting the results into an array and sending that to the view. The problem is with this solution I need to rewrite all of my views to parse the arrays sent instead of the active record objects sent before. Is there a way to turn the decrypted array back into an object that will work with existing active record code in the view? Before Controller: $name = $this->Clients_model->getNameData('*','client_id='.$clid,''); $data['name'] = $name; $this->load->view('names/name_view',$data); View: if($name->num_rows()) > 0){ foreach($name->result() as $row){ echo $row->data; [...] Now Controller: $name = $this->Clients_model->getNameData('*','client_id='.$clid,''); $nameArray= array(); foreach ($name->result() as $row){ $x = $row; $keys = array('id','client_id'); $unenc = array(); foreach ($x as $key=>$value){ if(! in_array($key, $keys)){ $unenc[$key]=$this->encrypt->decode($value,$this->e_key); }else{ $unenc[$key]=$value; } } array_push($nameArray,$unenc); } //Creates an object with the data, but doesn't work with CI active record //foreach ($nameArray as $akey => $aval) { // $namea -> {$akey} = $aval; //} //return $data; $data['name'] = $nameArray; $this->load->view('names/name_view',$data); View: if(count($name) > 0){ foreach($name as $key=>$row){ echo $row['data']; [...] In the second (now) controller there is some commented out code that will make an object, but it doesn't behave as expected with active record. Is there a way to take the $nameArray() array and change it into an object that will work with existing view code (such as the code in the 'before:view' above)? Thanks!

  • Reinject dependencies of a freshly deserialized object

    - by NathanE
If a program has literally just deserialized an object (doesn't really matter how, but just say BinaryFormatter was used). What is a good design to use for re-injecting the dependencies of this object? Is there a common pattern for this? I suppose I would need to wrap the Deserialize() method up to act as a factory inside the container. Thanks!

  • Javascript: Static member variable containing object instances

    - by tom
I have the following: function Preferences() { } Preferences.players = { 'player1': new Player() } players is a static member variable of Preferences and I'm trying to make it an object containing an instance of a Player. However, it doesn't appear to let me do this. It seems like it will allow me to define players if I make it a non-static member variable however. Like so: function Preferences() { var players = { 'player1' : new Player() } } Is it possible to create a static member variable containing instances of an object in JS?
