• How To debug Android app on Emulator using NetBeans IDE

  I recently downloaded the latest NetBeans IDE (for MACOSX) and imported/migrated a project over from the ECLIPSE environment. Everything looks, and works well... except that EMULATOR gets stuck "waiting for the debugger to attach." I tried "Attaching Debugger..." and set the PORT value to every case I've ever read about (8200, 8700, 5555, etc.) but the connection is refused. I am of the opinion that this is not the preferred way to start a debugging session in NetBeans for Android. What am I missing?

• Can a Silverlight application authenticate versus a local LDAP/ActiveDirectory Server

  If I have an externally hosted application (www.outside.com) outside the firewall but users within a company wanted to be able to enable LDAP authentication against their local (behind the firewall) AD server (acting as LDAP) or other LDAP server (call it ldap.inside.com), how would this be done. It seems technically possible in that when a user tried to login to outside.com through a client-side silverlight interface, that the SL app could connect to the outside.com login service and be told to authenticate that user against ldap.inside.com. The SL app would make the calls to ldap.inside.com to authenticate the user. Of course, there is the issue of how the server is notified securely that the client authenticated itself...Has anyone done this?

  I am setting up an existing django project on a dreamhost web server, so far I have got everything to work correctly. However I developed under python 2.5 and dreamhost by default uses python 2.4. The following line seems gives a syntax error because of the if keyword: 'parent': c.parent.pk if c.parent is not None else None ^ Is it the case that this form of if statement was introduced in Python 2.5, if so is there an easy change that would make it compatible with Python 2.4? Or, should I just change to Python 2.5. I have already installed python 2.5 to a directory under my home directory, and have succeeded in running the python interpreter under 2.5. If I wish to use Python 2.5 for everything, where can I set this?

• Showing Master/Detail UITableView inside UIPopOverController

  I have a UIPopOverController that shows a UIViewController with a UITableview in its view. The cells in the table have a detailedView, but whenever that view gets pushed, the PopOverController increases in size, and I am left with all this white space inside it. Question is this: Can anyone show me how I can have a Master/Detail UITableview show inside a PopOverController whilst preserving its dimensions?   Hello i'm trying to generate a proxy class from a local wsdl file with eclipse Galileo and axis 2 1.4 on windows xp . My problem is that i get an error due to an imported schema inside the wsdl . In fact i can download the file from the browser without problems. There's an option to specify a proxy to wsdl2java or someone has resolved this issue ? • How to get MSBuild Exec to run a java program?

  I am trying to run a command line action in my Team Build (MSBuild). When I run it on the command line of the build machine it works fine. But when run in the build script I get a "exited with code 3". This is command that I am running: C:\Program Files\Wavelink\Avalanche\PackageBuilder.\jresdk\bin\java -classpath "WLUtil.jar;WLPackageBuilder.jar" com.wavelink.buildpkg.AvalanchePackageBuilder /build PackageName This command only works when run from the above directory (I have tried running it from c:\ with the full path at it fails). • Display custom title bar for Android with XML

  In Android documentation describing "Configuring General Window Properties", it is suggested that specifying properties via XML is preferable whenever possible to avoid seeing the title bar flash. As an example, instead of setting Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE with requestWindowFeature, they set it to @android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar. Is there a similar way to set a custom title bar to be used in the XML? Update: I just found this article, according to which this article, the best way to draw a title bar is to ignore FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE and instead just draw the title bar as part of your main view. This would not only avoid the flashing, but also problems caused by padding.

• Creating an Objective-C++ Static Library in Xcode

  So I've developed an engine for the iPhone with which I'd like to build a couple different games. Rather than copy and paste the files for the engine inside of each game's project directory, I'd a way to link to the engine from each game, so if I need to make a change to it I only have to do so once. After reeding around a little bit, it seems like static libraries are the best way to do this on the iPhone. I created a new project called Skeleton and copied all of my engine files over to it. I used this guide to create a static library, and I imported the library into a project called Chooser. However, when I tried to compile the project, Xcode started complaining about some C++ data structures I included in a file called ControlScene.mm. • qt qmake mkspecs relative path

  Hello, when I compile Qt with Windows SDK 7.0, I use : configure.exe -shared -platform win32-msvc2008 -ltcg -no-dsp -no-vcproj nmake ...no error occured. But when I move or change name of my Qt folder, qmake.exe said me makespec is not defined, so I configure my QMAKESPEC to win32-msvc2008, I try again, but now it said me it cannot find mkspecs folder, it try to find this folder only where I compiled Qt (absolute path), I want qmake.exe use relative path : ../mkspecs/ not C:\qt-4.6.2\mkspecs. How can I solve this issue ?

• Bundler isn't loading gems

  I have been having a problem with using Bundler and being able to access my gems without having to require them somewhere, as config.gem used to do that for me (as far as I know). In my Rails 3 app, I defined my Gemfile like so: clear_sources source "http://gemcutter.org" source "http://gems.github.com" bundle_path "vendor/bundler_gems" ## Bundle edge rails: git "git://github.com/rails/arel.git" git "git://github.com/rails/rack.git" gem "rails", :git => "git://github.com/rails/rails.git" ## Bundle gem "mongo_mapper", :git => "git://github.com/jnunemaker/mongomapper.git" gem "bluecloth", ">= 2.0.0" Then I run gem bundle, it bundles it all up like expected. same goes for any other gem.   I am developing a GMF application . In this situation , I start my workspace and load a file in the workspace . Then I close the workspace and then delete the file from the workspace . After that, I try to restart my application and restore the workspace . Of course , now since the file does not exist , there are going to be exceptions . • Git subtree not properly using .gitignore when doing a partial clone

  I am a graduate student with many scripts, bibliography data in bibtex, thesis draft in latex, presentations in open office, posters in scribus, and figures and result data. I would like to put everything in one project under version control. Then when I need to work on a portion such as the bibliography data, I would like to check that subdirectory out, modify it as necessary and merge it back.I would like the ability to check out one version to my home computer, and a different one to my work computer and make changes to each independently and eventually merge them back. I would also like to be able to check out a piece of code from this big project and import it with versioning into a separate project. If I may changes I'd like to be able to merge them back to the original project. • Selectively suppress XML Code Comments in C#?

  We deliver a number of assemblies to external customers, but not all of the public APIs are officially supported. For example, due to less than optimal design choices sometimes a type must be publicly exposed from an assembly for the rest of our code to work, but we don't want customers to use that type. One part of communicating the lack of support is not provide any intellisense in the form of XML comments. Is there a way to selectively suppress XML comments? I'm looking for something other than ignoring warning 1591 since it's a long term maintenance issue. Example: I have an assembly with public classes A and B. A is officially supported and should have XML documentation. B is not intended for external use and should not be documented. I could turn on XML documentation and then suppress warning 1591. But when I later add the officially supported class C, I want the compiler to tell me that I've screwed up and failed to add the XML documentation. This wouldn't occur if I had suppressed 1591 at the project level. I suppose I could #pragma across entire classes, but it seems like there should be a better way to do this.

  Hello, I am so close to get this project done. I need to retrieve the password and passwordSalt from my Membership table to compare it to my 'OldPasswords' table. The problem is the Membership provider does not let me use the GetPassword method because the password is hashed. And I can not retrieve it in a normal sqlConnection because the UserID is hashed also. Does anyone know how to hash the UserID so I can put it in my where clause? Or maybe there is a different way to get to that data? Any help is appreciated. Thank you, Steve

• MSBuild on TeamCity Server can't find AL.exe

  I'm having a problem on my TeamCity CI build server where during compilation I get the following error: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets(2342, 9): error MSB3086: Task could not find "AL.exe" using the SdkToolsPath "" or the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A". Make sure the SdkToolsPath is set and the tool exists in the correct processor specific location under the SdkToolsPath and that the Microsoft Windows SDK is installed I've found similar reports from a year ago when people were upgrading to .NET 3.5, for example this one. In that case, installing the latest SDK solved the issue, however I have already installed the latest SDK (Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 4) on my build server. The MSBuild tools are all there on the server, in a folder called C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319 and AL.exe exists in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\Bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools However the registry key mentioned in the error message does not exist. So, it seems like there is something wrong with the installation/configuration of MSBuild. This error only happens for projects that have embedded resources, which require AL.exe. Please, anyone solved this issue or have any clues what's wrong?

  Are "Visual Studio Setup" Projects suitable for complex setups in different versions? The application is rather large ( 500.000 lines of code) and is under continuous development. Every 6 to 10 month a new version gets released. We have multiple configuration files (INI and XML), registry keys, database migration scripts, etc. The application is in the progress of being migrated from VB6 to .NET . The old installer was build with Installshield. The feedback to Installshield is: Bad adaptability, bad reuse - thats way we are evaluating "Visual Studio Setup" as an alternative. Other products we consider: Free Solutions WiX NSIS Commercial Solutions Installshield (again..) Wise Advanced Installer sth. missing? Solutions we don't like to consider: Inno Setup (It just doesn't feel right)
