  • CSMA/CD once channel captured, can only one or multiple frames be sent before other stations try tra

    Hi there, I have a question regarding CSMA/CD in the IEEE 802.3 LAN standard. I'm trying to understand the behavior of CSMA/CD after a station has captured the channel. Say station A has captured the channel and has an infinite supply of frames it is sending. Also assume that station B has something it wants to send. Now, if I understand correctly, station B senses the line and sees that station A has captured the channel/is transmitting. My question is, does station B see the channel as being captured for the duration of ALL of the frames that station A sends (an infinite period of time), or does station B only consider the channel captured for the first frame it sees A send, after which B goes ahead and transmits its own frame (which will collide with one of the remaining frames still coming from A)?

Then deletes the target folder and creates the second package, which then is visible. I tried to set target/somedir1 for the first configuration and target/somedir2 for the second configuration. But the behavior does not not change? Any ideas? I do not want to generate the packages directly in the src/main/java folder, because these packages are genereated and should not be mixed with manual created classes.

  • What's the best way to select max over multiple fields in SQL?

    The I kind of want to do is select max(f1, f2, f3). I know this doesn't work, but I think what I want should be pretty clear (see update 1). I was thinking of doing select max(concat(f1, '--', f2 ...)), but this has various disadvantages. In particular, doing concat will probably slow things down. What's the best way to get what I want? update 1: The answers I've gotten so far aren't what I'm after. max works over a set of records, but it compares them using only one value; I want max to consider several values, just like the way order by can consider several values. update 2: Suppose I have the following table: id class_name order_by1 order_by_2 1 a 0 0 2 a 0 1 3 b 1 0 4 b 0 9 I want a query that will group the records by class_name. Then, within each "class", select the record that would come first if you ordered by order_by1 ascending then order_by2 ascending. The result set would consist of records 2 and 3. In my magical query language, it would look something like this: select max(* order by order_by1 ASC, order_by2 ASC) from table group by class_name

  • how to setup rails Authenticity Token to work with multiple domains?

    I'm building an app that uses subdomains as account handles (myaccount.domain.com) and I have my sessions configured to work across the sub-domains like so: config.action_controller.session = {:domain => '.domain.com'} In addition to the subdomain a user can input a real domain name when they are creating their account. My Nginx config is setup to watch for *.com *.net etc, and this is working to serve out the pages. The problem comes when a site visitor submits a comment form on a custom domain that was input by the user. The code is throwing an "Invalid AuthenticityToken" exception. I'm 99% sure this is because the domain the user is on isn't specified as the domain in the config.action_controller.session. Thus the authenticity token isn't getting matched up because Rails can't find their session. So, the question is: Can you set config.action_controller.session to more than 1 domain, and if so can you add / remove from that value at runtime without restarting the app?

If I use something like: printDocument.PrintPage += OnPrintPage; printDocument.Print(); my printing task size in printer queue takes more than 1 GB!.     I've checked out a branch of C# code from source control. It contains maybe 50 projects in various folders. There's no existing .sln file to be found. I intended to create a blank solution to add existing solutions. The UI only lets me do this one project at a time. Is there something I'm missing? I'd like to specify a list of *.csproj files and somehow come up with a .sln file that contains all the projects.

    This question may sound too silly, however , I don't find concrete answer any where else. With little knowledge on how late binding works and virtual keyword used in inheritance. As in the code sample, when in case of inheritance where a base class pointer pointing to a derived class object created on heap and delete operator is used to deallocate the memory , the destructor of the of the derived and base will be called in order only when the base destructor is declared virtual function. Now my question is : 1) When the destructor of base is not virtual, why the problem of not calling derived dtor occur only when in case of using "delete" operator , why not in the case given below: derived drvd; base *bPtr; bPtr = &drvd; //DTOR called in proper order when goes out of scope. 2) When "delete" operator is used, who is reponsible to call the destructor of the class? The operator delete will have an implementation to call the DTOR ? or complier writes some extra stuff ? If the operator has the implementation then how does it looks like , [I need sample code how this would have been implemented]. 3) If virtual keyword is used in this example, how does operator delete now know which DTOR to call? Fundamentaly i want to know who calls the dtor of the class when delete is used. (with the period.) I would like to do this in such a way that doesn't require knowledge of other templates in any other template. So, for instance, I would like to be able to add a "util:add-colon" method without having to open up the hood and monkey with the existing templates. I was playing around with the <xsl:next-match/> instruction to accomplish this. Adding it to the first template above does of course invoke both util:uppercase and util:add-period, but the output is an aggregation of each template output (i.e. 'STRINGstring.') It seems like there should be an elegant way to chain any number of templates together using something like <xsl:next-match/>, but have the output of each template feed the input of the next one in the chain. Am I overlooking something obvious?

    I'm storing OLAC metadata which describes linguistic resources. Many of the elements of the metadata are repeatable -- for example, a resource can have two languages, three authors and four dates associated with it. Is there any way of storing this in one model? It seems like overkill to define a model for each repeatable metadata element -- especially since the models will only have one field: it's value.

I've tried using $selenium as a global object / browser but each test still opens up a new browser and closes it. How should this be done?

  • Are there solutions for streamlining the update of legacy code in multiple places?

    I'm working in some old code which was originally designed for handling two different kinds of files. I was recently tasked with adding a new kind of file to this code. Most of my problems were solved by filling out an extensive XML file with a new entry that handled everything from what lists were named to how the file is written in plural lower case. But this ended up being insufficient, as there were maybe 50 different places in 24 different code files where I had to update hardcoded switch-statements that only branched for the original two file types. Unfortunately there is no consistency in this; there are methods which operate half from the XML file, and half off of hardcode. Some of the files which look like they would operate off of the XML file don't, and some that I would expect that I'd need to update the hardcode don't need it. So the only way to find the majority of these is to run through testing the whole system when only part of it is operational, finding that one step to fix (when I'm lucky that error logging actually tells me what is going on), and then running the whole thing again. This wastes time testing the parts of the code which are already confirmed to work, time better spent testing the new parts I have to add on top of it all. It's a hassle and a half, and to my luck I can expect that I will have to add yet another new kind of file in the near future. Are there any solutions out there which can aid in this kind of endeavour? Something which I can input some parameters of current features, document what points in a whole code project actually need to be updated, and run something nice the next time I need to add a new feature to the code. It needn't even be fully automated, something that'll help me navigate straight to the specific points in everything and maybe even record what kind of parameters need to be loaded. Doubt it matters specifically, but the code is comprised of ASP.NET pages, some ASP.NET controls, hundreds of C# code files, and a handful of additional XML files. It's all currently in a couple big Visual Studio 2008 projects.

  • How can I match end-of-line multiple times in a regex without interpolation?

    Hi, if I have a input with new lines in it like: [INFO] xyz [INFO] How can I pull out the xyz part? I tried a pattern like /^\[INFO\]$(.*?)$\[INFO\]/ms, but perl gives me: Use of uninitialized value $\ in regexp compilation at scripts\t.pl line 6. I've been trying things to get interpolation to stop like using qr// but alas, no love. EDIT: The key is that the end-of-line anchor is a dollar sign but at times it may be necessary to intersperse the end-of-line anchor through the pattern. If the pattern is interpolating then you might get problems such as uninitialized $\. For instance an acceptable solution here is /^\[INFO\]\s*^(.*?)\s*^\[INFO\]/ms but that does not solve the crux of the first problem. I've changed the anchors to be ^ so there is no interpolation going on, and with this input I'm free to do that. But what about when I really do want to reference EOL with $ in my pattern? How do I get the regex to compile?

    I am working with the open source flash player at http://flash-mp3-player.net/ and I am trying to figure out how to limit one sound file at a time. I know this has been done on a number of sites but I am unsure how to approach it. Scenario: A page has five different instances of the flash player. The user is litening to one song but clicks on another to listen to it. Goal: The first audio file automatically stops while the second starts playing instead of both playing at the same time. Do I need to have some sort of javascript handler than interacts with the swf or something?

  • LINQ to SQL - How to efficiently do either an AND or an OR search for multiple criteria

    I have an ASP.NET MVC site (which uses Linq To Sql for the ORM) and a situation where a client wants a search facility against a bespoke database whereby they can choose to either do an 'AND' search (all criteria match) or an 'OR' search (any criteria match). The query is quite complex and long and I want to know if there is a simple way I can make it do both without having to have create and maintain two different versions of the query. For instance, the current 'AND' search looks something like this (but this is a much simplified version): private IQueryable<SampleListDto> GetSampleSearchQuery(SamplesCriteria criteria) { var results = from r in Table where (r.Id == criteria.SampleId) && (r.Status.SampleStatusId == criteria.SampleStatusId) && (r.Job.JobNumber.StartsWith(criteria.JobNumber)) && (r.Description.Contains(criteria.Description)) select r; } I could copy this and replace the && with || operators to get the 'OR' version, but feel there must be a better way of achieving this. Does anybody have any suggestions how this can be achieved in an efficient and flexible way that is easy to maintain? Thanks.

    I'm starting out with MVC but not sure it's the best option. I need to create a form that is based upon a collection. Eg it might look like this: product Price Item 1 [textbox] Item 2 [textbox] [submit button] where "item" is pulled from the database and textbox allows users to update the price. essentially this is a type of datagrid but i don't want webforms style update each row one at a time i need to update the entire set of text boxes in one post. Ideally I don't want a javascript based solution as it has to work without javascript. Is this possible in MVC or should I stick to webforms (where I could do this in a repeater by iterating through he repeater items on postback)

  • How to transfer binary data through multiple http server?

    Well, the question is not intended to be that big. Let me explain the scenario: I have two http servers. server A is accessible to end user by web browser, while server B is internal server which can only be accessed by server A. If server B generate some big jpeg image in local disk, obviously we can't just delivery those path to image to server A and eventually to end user. Then, how to let end user see those image without firstly storing those image data in server A temporarily? I run PHP on server A and perl on server B, but this should not matter. I need a general pattern for implementing this.
