I am looking for a Los Angeles based iPhone developer that would be willing to help tutor me on memory management and run down some code. Will pay for your time.
Thanks,
Sam
I have some immutable data structures that I would like to manage using reference counts, sharing them across threads on an SMP system.
Here's what the release code looks like:
void avocado_release(struct avocado *p)
{
if (atomic_dec(p->refcount) == 0) {
free(p->pit);
free(p->juicy_innards);
free(p);
}
}
Does atomic_dec need a memory barrier in it? If so, what kind of memory barrier?
Additional notes: The application must run on PowerPC and x86, so any processor-specific information is welcomed. I already know about the GCC atomic builtins. As for immutability, the refcount is the only field that changes over the duration of the object.
Simple question...can the adp2 that I just bought through the Android Market be flashed with Android 2.0? I can't find anything anywhere. The HTC developer support only has system images for the adp1 and adp2 phones up to 1.6. If it can't I will be sending the phone back for a full refund. Thanks.
I have seen the tutorial provided to display google maps here...
http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-mapview.html.
But sadly when i try to extend MapActivity instead of Activity the whole program is getting ruined and showing errors starting from onCreate... Whats the solution and how could i get google maps working in my application???
To me, as a developer and as a user, I find the empty string ("") useless and the cause of much confusion, it's like saying string == char[]
Maybe computers need the empty string, so I'd like to learn why.
I am setting up a web site for a football club and I am wondering which CMS to use.
I am a developer but I am doing this as a favour to a friend and would rather grab something with modules in it (registration, events, calender, etc etc) already. I need to be able to customise it but I had a look around and Wordpress looks like a blogging tool. I am wondering if anyone has experience with the above or any others and if shed some light. Thanks
I'm using VBScript and the Microsoft.XMLHTTP object to scrape some web data. I have a list of URLs to check, but unfortunately some of them 301 redirect to others on the list, so I wind up with redundant data.
Is it at all possible to make the XMLHTTP object fail on 301 redirect? Or at least cache the original response header? Or otherwise just let me know what happened?
(notes: I have no control over the server I'm requesting data from; when I get new data, I could check if it's redundant, but I'd like to avoid that if possible).
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
What is a standardized alternative to window.location.href function? I was checking on w3schools.com that it is implemented in all major browsers so there's no problem but I'm rather curious how to do that properly.
From here is the statement that the function is not standardized: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/DOM/window.location
Thanks!
Hey. I'm a software and web developer for ~3 years, and I want to start learning 3D network game programming.
What is the most modern & fastest way to write 3D PC games? What language? For graphics, should I use a graphics API like Direct3D/OpenGL or is there something less painful?
What math/physics skills should I know before starting?
Thank you.
Hi All,
I have deployed my application on server and Now I am getting this error:
To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
~~~ I have defined custom error pages for my applicatio.
Please help me, how to rectify this issue.
Thanks in advance.
Is anyone attempting to implement C# for the JVM? As a Java developer, I've been eyeing C# with envy, but am unwilling to give up the portability and maturity of the JVM, not to mention the diverse range of tools for it.
I know there are some important differences between the JVM and CLR but is there anything that is a showstopper?
I'm trying to provide a link to the attachment of a note through the client-side JScript. The standard MS-made Notes component does this through the following url:
[serverurl]/[appname]/Activities/Attachment/download.aspx?AttachmentType=5&AttachmentId={blahblahblah}&IsNotesTabAttachment=1&CRMWRPCToken=blahblahblah&CRMWRPCTokenTimeStamp=blahblahblah
The problem is that I don't know how to get the Token or TokenTimeStamp, so I'm receiving an Access Denied error ("form is no longer available, security precaution, etc").
The only other way I can think of doing this is through the OData endpoint, but that would at best get me a base64 string that I still would have translate into a filestream to give to the browser (all of which seems like it would take forever to implement/figure out).
I've found a few other posts that describe the same thing, but no one has answered them:
I have written a Javascript calender, that is dynamically generated by Javascript.
But if does not functions in IE.
here is the link to my script.
We one looks at IE Developer tool, the newly generated contents are there but do not show in browser.
Any help please.
The system I work with is creating a whole lot of objects and garbage collecting them all the time which results in a very steeply jagged graph of heap consumption. I would like to know which objects are being generated to tune the code, but I can't figure out a way to dump the heap at the moment the garbage collection starts. When I tried to initiate dumpHeap via JConsole manually at random times, I always got results after GC finished its run, and didn't get any useful data.
Any notes on how to track down excessive temporary object creation are welcome.
Hi,
since moving to Windows 7 (IIS 7.5), the debug assertions do not prompt a pop up dialog anymore.
I have tested this in a separate project, and noticed that they do work when using the integrated Visual Studio Developer server (Cassini) but they do not work when using IIS Web Server.
This is a big issue for us since we are counting on debug assertions to identify potential programming errors, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. Eyal.
What is the equivalent of YUI 3's Y.Array in jQuery?
Y.Array() takes array like inputs and converts them into array. More info at http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/3/api/yui-array.js.html
For a table in oracle, I can query "all_tab_columns" and get table column information, like the data type, precision, whether or not the column is nullable.
In SQL Developer or TOAD, you can click on a view in the GUI and it will spit out a list of the columns that the view returns and the same set of data (data type, precision, nullable, etc).
So my question is, is there a way to query this column definition for a view, the way you can for a table? How do the GUI tools do it?
I'm trying to insert/load javascript (e.g. prototype/jquery) into the iFrame generated by TinyMCE (tinymce.moxiecode.com) or YUI's text editor (http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/editor/) so as to better manipulate the objects/images/DIVs inside it.
Any thoughts?
Hello,
I am newbie to jQuery, just trying to learn it since last couple of days. In my office, there are few experience JavaScript Developer and they work mainly with jQuery for all their needs and whenever I got and talk to them to get some better understanding of how jQuery works and first they say is that on $(document).(ready) you do this and on $(document).(ready) you do that.
So my main question is What is the $(document).(ready) and how does it really works ?
Any inputs would be highly appreciated.
I've just started tinkering with conky, and I'm hoping the StackOverflow crowd can share some of the cool things they've done with this tool.
Scripts and .conkyrc files specifically geared towards developers would be especially good to see. Some good examples of developer-centric functions would be repository-monitors or heck, even something that monitors StackOverflow.
Screenshots of what the functionality actually looks like would be appreciated as well.
My code get this event more than once while device is rotating. I'm searching in apple docs for reference but seems no lucky. Could any one offer a hint why this is happening?
My code is an apple doc sample code, without any change but some logs.
I am building a small web app for a pharmacy to keep track of sales and stocks, so in short, in one page, the pharmacist will enter a bar-code and the item is displayed, pharmacist enters quantity (price will be automatically calculated) then next item and next and so on, I haven't worked with such a problem before so I would appreciate any advices/tips on how to do it, what to use and wither its already done in some tidy neat way I can just import into my page.
Am using ASP.net and VB.net, SQL 2008 and all express withing Visual Web Developer (also ExpresS)
Are there any coders out there that have real experience/exposure to both PHP and ASP.net? I'm a C# developer, wondering if any PHP frameworks compare to the robustness of the Visual Studio Development environment.
Are we reduced to ClickOnce to manage our application state for our users? We use Visual Patch currently. When our users update (we reproduced this) we get errors from the updated versions to our compiled versions. Since our developer state is not 'updated' with Visual Patch how can we monitor and eventual squash the various System.MethodNotFound, and System.NullReferenceException in our updated versions of our application?
