• Hosting multiple sites on a single webapp in tomcat

  Scenario: I have a website - www.mydomain.com. Registered users will be given the choice of getting a permanent url to their account on mydomain.com as a subdomain like (username.mydomain.com) or they can opt to have their own domain like www.userdomain.com. So the user can access his/her account through the subdomain URL or their own hostname and the request should be forwarded to a specific url on mydomain.com. For example: xyz.mydomain.com or www.xyz.com should give the user account from www.mydomain.com/webapp/account?id=xyz. The user should be completely unaware about where the content is coming from. Setup: My website is running as a webapp in tomcat 5.5.28 with apache as the web server. I am using a VPS which means I have control over all the configuration files (apache, tomcat and dns server). Can you tell me what are the configurations needed to achieve the above scenario??

• Error with FTP since binding via httpcfg

  I was in a similar posistion to this question and bound two IP addresses using httpcfg. Since doing this ftp does not seem to be working on IIS6 in Windows Server 2003. Any ideas what could be wrong? The command I ran was: httpcfg set iplisten -i xxx.xxx.x.x I get the following when I try to conenct via Filezilla: Error: Connection timed out Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing The log file is returning the following: #Software: Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0 #Version: 1.0 #Date: 2009-08-17 13:54:05 #Fields: date time c-ip cs-username cs-method cs-uri-stem sc-status sc-win32-status 2009-08-17 13:54:05 91.85.70.17 Client [1]USER Client 331 0 2009-08-17 13:54:05 91.85.70.17 Client [1]PASS - 230 0 In the ftp site settings I have the site pointing to the IP address used using httpcfg and the port set to 21. Update: I can see a directory listing if I connect via the inbuilt commandline ftp client in wondows vista. If I try to connect via a windows explorer I start in the incorrect folder and no files are listed just directories.

• Bridging Network Devices with Multiple IPs

  I have a small server with a single NIC that I am trying to get a bridge functioning on so that I can run KVM. On this NIC I have a couple IPs statically assigned to it: eth0 = 192.168.1.1 eth0:1 = 192.168.1.2 eth0:2 = 192.168.1.3 eth0:3 -> Assign the bridge to this I am attempting to set up a bridge using the following instructions: sudo brctl addbr br0 sudo brctl addif br0 eth0:3 sudo ifconfig br0 192.168.1.120 netmask 255.255.255.0 up sudo route add -net 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 br0 sudo route add default gw 192.168.1.1 br0 sudo tunctl -b -u root -t tap0 > /dev/null sudo ifconfig tap0 up sudo brctl addif br0 tap0 However, when I do the second command: sudo brctl addif br0 eth0:3 It puts the ENTIRE eth0 device into promiscuous mode. This knocks the server offline and inaccessible by anything other than locally. Is there a way to bridge JUST eth0:3 to br0 and not put the entire device into promiscuous mode?

  I am trying to install MS SQL Database 2005 on Windows XP Home SP3. It fails giving no reason ("Database failed to install"), then exits. I had already installed MS SQL Database Express Edition 2008 during 2005 setup. But when I removed 2008 one and tried to install 2005 afterwards it still failed with same error. The error happens when I am trying to install Dragon Age Toolset or Visual 2008 Pro edition. I do not known which else informations may be valuable as I never before encountered problems with installing MS database

Many of the ports on the 3750X's have 2960's connected to them and are hardcoded as trunk ports.   Using VC71 compiler and get compiler errors, that i don't understand.   I'm tring to install NetLimiter 3 (3.0.0.10, x64) on my Windows 7 x64 machine. At the driver installation step, I'm getting an error: Error 0x8004a029: Couldn't install the network component. (InstallNdisIMDriver) UPDATE 2010-09-20: I received a response to my support request: Hi Simon, It seems that problem is rather on your system than in NL3. Too many networking applications (VPN, Virtual computers) are installed on your machine and they are preventing NL3 from proper installation. In order to install NetLimiter 3, try to disable/temporarily remove these apps. Several users had the same problem and shuffling with adapter and networking software helped them. • Get cryptic error when trying to create a snapshot of any of my VMs

  I'm using Oracle VM VirtualBox. I have 6 VMs that I've imported. When I click on an individual VM, and then click the camera image (or Ctrl+Shift+S) to take a snapshot, the snapshot process fails and VirtualBox gives the following error: Failed to create a snapshot of the virtual machine vmName. Details: Result Code: VBOX_E_IPRT_ERROR (0x80BB0005) This happens not only for one of my VMs, but all of them, if I try to take a snapshot of each one separately, one at a time. My computer is a Windows 7 machine. I have 200 GB free on my hard drive, and I see no reason why the error should occur. I can import VMs, run them, and clone then without any problems. Can anyone tell me what to do to fix the issue?

  hi, I have methods which return interface and some methods which accepts interface as parameters. I am trying to use Net DataContractSerializer but I am getting following error... The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/:id. The InnerException message was 'Error in line 1 position 120. XML 'Element' 'http://tempuri.org/:id' does not contain expected attribute 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/:Type'. The deserializer has no knowledge of which type to deserialize. Check that the type being serialized has the same contract as the type being deserialized.'. Please see InnerException for more details. Please help me how to resolve this error.... If I use Netdatacontract attribute on Operation Contract, can i use DataContract and Datamember attribute on serializable class??? Thanks in advance...

• Using SSH to find access to a problematic script in logs of multiple domains

  I run several (~20) sites on a Dreamhost VPS. Lately I max my memory allocation for the VPS and I want to find the problem. I would like to have an SSH script that will scan all the log files of all the domains and show me what object (image, php script etc) gets lots of calls. It will count the calls in each /logs/*/http/access.log, do an descending sort and show me the top 10 across domains. But I don't know how to do that. Can it be done?   If you're a Firefox user you know that if you have 10 tabs open and say you're in the tab #5. If you open a new tab which will become #11 in order and search something, after you finish and close this #11 tab Firefox will direct you the the last active tab you were in which is #5. Using Vimperator You won't get the similar effect. In the same scenario, while you're in tab #5 you can go t and search for something which will lead to opening a tab at #11. Now you press d and where you are now ? #10 and you need to ctrl+p all the way back to #5. So in this case I am looking for one of these solutions. to be able to open a tab straight after the current tab (which closing it will capital D will put me back to my active tab) a way to close a tab and being brought back to the last active tab that I worked on.   Hello. I am trying to rout trafic to different upstream servers (that serve different applications and not for load balancing). The incoming trafic has the same domain name but different URL. Here is an example of my configuration: http { upstream backend1 { server 127.0.0.1:8080 fail_timeout=0; server 127.0.0.1:8081 fail_timeout=0; } upstream backend2 { server 127.0.0.1:8090 fail_timeout=0; server 127.0.0.1:8091 fail_timeout=0; } server { listen 80; server_name my_server.com; root /home/my_server; location /serve_me { fastcgi_pass backend1; include fastcgi_params; } location / { fastcgi_pass backend2; include fastcgi_params; } } } It seems that whatever trafic comes in (including "my_server.com/serve_me") goes to backend2.   Using the voting buttons in Outlook 2007, apparently users can submit votes as many times as they like. (I have just now verified this behaviour.) Is there a way to restrict the uses to just one vote each? I've found a script online which claims to do this, but there's no way I can use a script like that across our company. • Multiple PXE server same subnet

  I've been struggling with this for some time. I have a few test machines that boot from the network, they receive the boot data from the DHCP server, this tells them who is the boot server where is the file they'll boot etc. However, I need to add a second PXE server in the same subnet (create another Vlan is not an option right now). I read somewhere that I may be able to send certain parameters to certain machines based on their MAC address (this way choosing what computers boot from what server) however I cannot find how to do this, anyone knows how? this will be my solution but I cannot find the answer. My DHCP is a windows server 2003 I have 2 servers running custom flavors of Linux server as TFTP servers. Some machines use data to boot from server 1, and the others must bu able to boot from server 2. Thx
