  • ordering by a property on a joined table linq to sql

    - by Gazeth
I have the following linq query from o in context.Opportunities join i in context.Interactions on o.OpportunityID equals i.OpportunityID into ints from i in ints.DefaultIfEmpty() orderby i.StatusID descending, o.StatusID descending select o Now i want to then do a distinct on the opportunities table but doing so removes my orderby. I know that you can do Distinct().OrderBy but how do i get a reference to the interactions table that was joined when I'm only selecting the opportunity entity?

  • Get spiral index from location

    - by ricick
I'm using Alberto Santini's solution to this question to get a spiral grid reference based on an items index Algorithm for iterating over an outward spiral on a discrete 2D grid from the origin It's not the accepted solution, but it's the best for my needs as it avoids using a loop. It's working well, but what I want now is to do the inverse. Based on a known x and y coordinate return the index of a location. This is as a precursor to returning the items surrounding a given location.

  • Outlook Object Library for Visual Studio

    - by Ukodiak
Our office is running two different versions of MS Office (2007 and 2010). Is there a way for me to integrate Outlook into a C# project and have it work for both versions of Outlook? I have added a reference to Microsoft Outlook 14.0 Object Library, but for users of Outlook 2007, do they require version 12.0 or will the newer version work?

  • Using Joins vs Entity associations

    - by shivesh
I am learning Entity framework and linq-to-entities. It's possible to get cross values from multiple tables using JOINS (join keyword) or using the navigation fields ( associations) in which case the framework knows how to reference the cross data. My question is what to use when?

  • C++ Problem resolution - is it the best way to simulate a "tuple"?

    - by fbin
    Hi everyone! I've got the following problem: "Write a template function vectorMAXMIN() that will accept a vector and a number indicating the size of the vector and will return the max and the min values of the vector"... So i think in it... Create a class vector to avoid the "size" passing value and control the insertions and can get from this the max and min values... ( dunno if it's a good idea ) The problem is "how to return a tuple?" When i read the problem, i thought in a tuple to return "max, min values" is it correct? The code: #include <iostream> template < typename T > class _tuple { public: T _Max; T _Min; }; template < typename T > class _vector { public: _vector( int cnt = 0); ~_vector(); _tuple< T > get_tuple( void ); void insert( const T ); private: T *ptr; int cnt; int MAX; }; template < typename T > _vector< T >::_vector( int N ) { ptr = new T [N] ; MAX = N; cnt = 0; } template < typename T > _tuple<T> _vector< T >::get_tuple( void ) { _tuple< T > _mytuple; _mytuple._Max = ptr[0]; _mytuple._Min = ptr[0]; for( int i = 1; i < cnt; i++) { if( _mytuple._Max > ptr[i] ) _mytuple._Max = ptr[i]; if( _mytuple._Min < ptr[i] ) _mytuple._Min = ptr[i]; } return _mytuple; } template < typename T > void _vector< T >::insert( const T element) { if( cnt == MAX ) std::cerr << "Error: Out of range!" << std::endl; else { ptr[cnt] = element; cnt++; } } template < typename T > _vector< T >::~_vector() { delete [] ptr; } int main() { _vector< int > v; _tuple < int > t; v.insert(2); v.insert(1); v.insert(5); v.insert(0); v.insert(4); t = v.get_tuple(); std::cout << "MAX:" << t._Max; std::cout << " MIN:" << t._Min; return 0; }

  • Facebook Connect: Redirect to FB login page instead of popup

    - by AyKarsi
I'm just starting of to get Facebook connect to work. One thing that really bugs me, is that when I click the FB login button, it opens up a popup. I would much more prefer to have the user redirected to FB, where he can login and be sent back to my site. (Just like openid login works here at SO) I can't find anything in the docs, although I have the feeling I'm not looking in the right place: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/javascript/fb.api/

  • JS Split ( ) to check if substring exists in Array

    - by Javacadabra
I have an array of products that are stored as Strings in this format productname:quantity. The issue I am running into is that if a user adds one product with a quantity of x it is inserted into the array as it should. However, if they then decide to add more of a particular product a new entry is made into the array instead of checking if the product already exists and adjusting the quantity to the new value. oldQty + newQty. For example this is my array: ["CBL202659/A:1","OUTER9:1","PALLET CARDS:1"] If I add another PALLET CARDS product it creates a new entry rather than updating the quantity of the existing item to 2. New array ["CBL202659/A:1","OUTER9:1","PALLET CARDS:1","PALLET CARDS:1"] I would like the array to end up like this: - updating the quantity ["CBL202659/A:1","OUTER9:1","PALLET CARDS:2"] Currently this is my code: I use the split() method to seperate the String where a colon occurs and store the product name and quantity in two seperate variables. $(".orderBtn").click(function(event){ //Show the order Box $(".order-alert").show(); event.preventDefault(); //Create the Array var productArray = []; //Get reference to the product clicked var stockCode = $(this).closest('li').find('.stock_code').html(); //Get reference to the quantity selected var quantity = $(this).closest('li').find('.order_amount').val(); var item = stockCode + ":" + quantity; var itemCheck = stockCode + ":"; if(quantity == 0){ console.log("Quantity must be greater than 0") }else{ //If no Cookie exists, create one and add the Array if ($.cookie('order_cookie') === undefined) { console.log("CREATE NEW COOKIE"); //Add items to Array productArray.push(item); //Add Array to Cookie $.cookie('order_cookie', JSON.stringify(productArray), { expires: 1, path: '/' }); //If the Cookie already exists do this } else { productArray = JSON.parse($.cookie('order_cookie'));//get ref to array if(productArray.indexOf(itemCheck)!= -1){//It exists so update qty console.log("EXISTS... updating item: " + itemCheck); //var index = productArray.indexOf(item); //var update = productArray[index].split(":"); //var name = update[0]; //var oldQty = update[1]; //console.log(name + ":" + oldQty); //productArray[index] = item; }else{//It does not exist, so add to array console.log("Does not exist... adding new item: " + item); //Append items onto the Array productArray.push(item); } //Update the Cookie $.cookie('order_cookie', JSON.stringify(productArray), { expires: 1, path: '/' }); console.log($.cookie('order_cookie')); } //Display the number of items in the Array in the Order Box $('#order_counter').html(productArray.length); } }); I suppose the real question I am asking here, is if it is possible to search the array for a subString - containing productname: ??

  • Mef, passing parameters to a module

    - by Flex_Addicted
Hi guys, I'm studying MEF and I'm not able to resolve a problem. I have a main application, called MainMEF, and a simple module, called SimpleModule. This one consists of a single UserControl which is loaded dinamically. When MainMEF starts up, I would be able to pass to the module a reference to main application contained into MainMEF. How could I fix this? Thanks in advance.

  • Why string.Replace("X","Y") works only when assigned to new string?

    - by Petr
Hi, I guess it has to do something with string being a reference type but I dont get why simply string.Replace("X","Y") does not work? Why I need to do `string A=stringB.Replace("X","Y") I thought it is just a method to be done on specified instance? Thanks for explanation EDIT: Thank you so far. I extend my question Why "b+="FFF"works but the b.replace is not?

  • Google Drive listing, searching and deleting files

    - by omarshammas
I'm building a web app that integrates with Google Drive, and am wondering if there was a way to list, search or delete files. I see from https://developers.google.com/drive/v1/reference/files#resource that there are 4 operations. If there are no list and search capabilities then the onus is on the app to handle the management. Is there another API I should be using? Are those features in the works?
