  • Passing operator as a parameter

    Hi, I want to have a function that evaluates 2 bool vars (like a truth table) for example: since T | F : T then myfunc('t', 'f', ||); /*defined as: bool myfunc(char lv, char rv, ????)*/ should return true; how can I pass the third parameter? (I know is possible to pass it as a char* but then I will have to have another table to compare operator string and then do the operation which is something I would like to avoid) Is it possible to pass an operator like ^(XOR) or ||(OR) or &&(AND), etc in a function/method? In the above I want to use the fact that A /\B is the same as B /\ A in order to prove that ~(A /\ B) is the same as ~(B /\ A). Is it possible to use my proved lemma?

  • How can I add a border to all the elements that share a class when the mouse has hovered over one of

    I have a generated HTML file which has large blocks of text with span's sprinkled throughout it with generated class names: This <span class="21232">an example</span> of what <span class="332423"> I'm talking</span> about. There are span's with <span class="21232"> generated ID's </span>. Now, what I'm seeking to do, is if I hover over any of my spans, they will add a border to not only that span, but all other spans that share that same class. So, if I were to hover over the first span, it would wrap a border around "an example" and "generated ID's" because the first and third span share the same class name. I was pretty sure I couldn't do it in straight CSS. Is this possible using jQuery? If so, can anyone point me in the right direction for doing this as simply as possible?

  • Postfix and right-associative operators in LR(0) parsers

    Is it possible to construct an LR(0) parser that could parse a language with both prefix and postfix operators? For example, if I had a grammar with the + (addition) and ! (factorial) operators with the usual precedence then 1+3! should be 1 + 3! = 1 + 6 = 7, but surely if the parser were LR(0) then when it had 1+3 on the stack it would reduce rather than shift? Also, do right associative operators pose a problem? For example, 2^3^4 should be 2^(3^4) but again, when the parser have 2^3 on the stack how would it know to reduce or shift? If this isn't possible is there still a way to use an LR(0) parser, possibly by converting the input into Polish or Reverse Polish notation or adding brackets in the appropriate places? Would this be done before, during or after the lexing stage?

  • Solving the problem of finding parts which work well with each other

    Hi, I have a database of items. They are for cars and similar parts (eg cam/pistons) work better than others in different combinations (eg one product will work well with another, while another combination of 2 parts may not). There are so many possible permutations, what solutions apply to this problem? So far, I feel that these are possible approaches (Where I have question marks, something tells me these are solutions but I am not 100% confident they are). Neural networks (?) Collection-based approach (selection of parts in a collection for cam, and likewise for pistons in another collection, all work well with each other) Business rules engine (?) What are good ways to tackle this sort of problem? Thanks

  • Managed HttpListener vs C++ Network Lib - Requires admin rights?

    So, I have noticed that starting an HttpListener is considered impolite according to Win 7. I cannot do so without administrative rights without adding myself to some URL reservation list. In theory, this is alright, but I'd like to make my program as little invasive as possible. My main other alternative is something like the c++ Network Library, which utilizes boost. This is probably not as simple as a HttpListener though. Will this circumvent the admin rights requirement for listening to some HTTP url? How does windows handle http listening? Right now I'm just listening to http://+:xxxx/url, I guess it's fully possible to just create a Socket listening at port xxxx and provide my own/third party http implementation?

  • NHibernate: Dynamically swapping a single domain model between multiple physical data models

    Hi In this article Ayende describes how to map a single domain model to multiple physical data models. Is it possible to extend this principle such that the mapping can chosen dynamically? So for example, imagine we had an entity that could be written to the same physical schema in three ways depending on its current status, and lets assume that regardless of status each entity had a unique identifier. One solution would be to represent the entity in its different states with three separate classes: one for each mapping. Then the entity could be loaded and in order to change its state the entity could be mapped to a class representing one of its other states and then saved back to the schema, making use of a different mapping. I was wondering if it is at all possible to have the same entity represented by one class that held a status flag (kind of like a discriminator), and any save to the schema would choose the appropriate mapping based on the value of the status flag.     Is it possible in a GSM mobile phone OS (e.g. Android, Win Mo, Symbian, etc.) to have some kind of background task or application able to exchange data at the same time with a web server and a secure element of the mobile? The purpose if for the web server to be able to push APDUs to the secure element (an retrieve response APDUs) without activating the IHM of the mobile. NB: I know that this is possible when the secure element is the one managing the GSM baseband, for example using BIP as described in Ulysse specifications. My question is only when using another secure element (e.g. Java Card in a microSD).

    If i takes larger datatype where i know i should have taken datatype that was sufficient for possible values that i will insert into a table will affect any performance in sql server in terms of speed or any other way. eg. IsActive (0,1,2,3) not more than 3 in any case. I know i must take tinyint but due to some reasons consider it as compulsion, i am taking every numeric field as bigint and every character field as nVarchar(Max) Please give statistics if possible, to let me try to overcoming that compulsion. I need some solid analysis that can really make someone rethink before taking any datatype.

  • Design RESTful service with multiple ids

    I am designing a RESTful service. It is to list a set of data. The main problem is that the set does not have a reasonable, single identifier. Nor can the specific set be easily calculated within the knowledge of the system. As a result, it does not seem possible to have a GET /items/{identifier} service. I do have the id of each element being requested. My main issue is that it does not seem RESTful to list the ids in the URI (eg GET items/{id1},{id2},...,{idn} ). Right? I could see DELETE having a similar use case - remove multiple items in one request cycle. How would such a use case be satisfied while staying within the REST realm? Is that possible?

  • How to call/use a value converter inverted

    Is it possible to use a converter the "wrong" way around? In other words: can I swap source and target? Here's an example: I created a simple IValueConverter called NullableDecimalToStringConverter which converts an input if "" into null and a number into decimal. I use it to bind a TextBox in my WPF view to a decimal? property in my ViewModel. In another context I'd like to convert a NullableDecimal into a String in the same way... Is it possible to simply use the existing NullableDecimalToStringConverter inverted? One method is to use the parameter of the converter to tell the converter which way it should convert. But is there a .NET build in way to do such a thing? Another way would be to build a base class with both conversion methods and two separate converter which call the base class methods...

  • Running python/ruby script on iPhone?

    From the recent news from the Apple, I learned that one has to use C/C++/Objective-C for iPhone App. Accordingly, it's not possible to use MacPython or similar to make iPhone App. But as the python/ruby interpreter itself is written in C, isn't it OK to make python/ruby interpreter for iPhone to run the scripts on iphone? Is this possible? Does Apple support this? Or does someone implemented this? Or, the user should hack to do this?

    Hi folks... Is it possible to store a fraction like 3/6 in a variable of some sort? When I try this it only stores the numbers before the /. I know that I can use 2 variables and divide them, but the input is from a single text field. Is this at all possible? I want to do this because I need to calculate the fractions to decimal odds. A bonus question ;) - Is there an easy way to calculate a decimal value to a fraction? Thanks..

    In a Rails app, Active Record creates created_at and updated_at columns thank to macros, (it seems to be also called "magic columns"). See Active Record Migrations I have some questions about that mecanism: Is it possible to override that to get a third column (e.g. deleted_at) ? Is it possible to create a new macro t.publishing that will create publish_up and publish_down columns, for example? And where to code that? Obviously, I know I can add those columns manually, but I wonder how to achieve it with macros. Working on Rails 4.

    I'm not a flash dev, but I'm turning to it to try and meet a requirement. I'm to allow a user to select a file on their computer, then pass it to my web application. I know it's not possible to do this using Javascript, hence wanting to use flash. First, is this possible? Second, can I get a pointer on how its done? To clarify: I'm just looking for the path to the file. I don't want to upload it.
