• Installing psycopg2 (postgresql) in virtualenv on windows

  I installed psycopg2 in virtualenv using easy_install psycopg2. I did not see any errors and looks like installation went fine.. there is an egg file created in the site-packages dir for psycopg2.. but when I run import psycopg2 in the interpreter, I am getting following error.. any clue? How can I fix it.. any other way to install psycopg2 in virtualenv.. • How do i compile a static library (fat) for armv6, armv7 and i386

  I know this question has been posed several times, but my goal is slightly different with regard to what I have found searching the web. Specifically, I am already able to build a static library for iPhone, but the final fat file I am able to build only contains arm and i386 architectures (and I am not sure to what arm refers: is v6 or v7?). I am not able to compile specifically for armv6 and armv7 and them merge both architectures using lipo. The lipo tool complains that the same architecture (arm, not armv6 or armv7) is present in both the armv6 and armv7 libraries. Can someone explain exactly how to build for armv6 and armv7, and them merge these libraries into a fat file using lipo?

  I have a PHP process that takes a long time to run. I don't want the AJAX process that calls it to wait for it to finish. When the PHP process finishes it will set a field in a database. There should be some kind of AJAX polling call to check on the database field periodically and set a message. How do I set up a jQuery AJAX call to poll rather than wait? Does the PHP script have to do anything special?

• C# GridView dynamically built columns with textboxes ontextchanged

  My page is a bulk order form that has many products and various size options. I've got a gridview that has a 3 static columns with labels. There are then some dynamically built columns. Each of the dynamically built columns have a textbox in them. The textbox is for quantity. Trying to either update the server with the quantity entered each time a textbox is changed (possibly ontextchanged event) or loop though each of the rows column by column and gather all the items that have a quantity and process those items and their quantities all at once (via button onclick). If I put the process that builds the GridView behind a if(!Page.IsPostBack) then the when a textchanged event fires the gridview only gets the static fields and the dynamic ones are gone. If I remove the if(!Page.IsPostBack) the process to gather and build the page is too heavy on processing and takes too long to render the page again. Some advice would be appreciated. Thanks

  One of my friend is working on issue related to updating expired digital certificates. He is working on Java application(Swings I guess), which has 4000 clients. All those need a digital certificate to connect to the application and this certificate expires every year. At the end of year he needs to update the certificate credentials for all clients. Currently this is manual process, done by connecting to each of 4000 systems either locally or by remote connection. He is got task to convert this process to be an automated process. Please suggest some solutions.

• Upgrading Visual Studio 2010 RC to RTM

  I have the RC build of VS2010 installed on my computer. Now that the RTM build is out, I want to upgrade. Aside from the main Visual Studio package and .NET Framework 4, what else should I remove before I install the RTM build in order to minimize potential breakage/conflicts? VS2010 installs a whole bunch of ancillary packages and I'm not sure which ones have been upgraded between RC and RTM. (Extra credit: I've got another machine that is still running Beta 2. Would the procedure be the same?)

• error executing aapt, all of the sudden

  I know there are a lot of these topics around but none seem to help in my case, nor describe it exactly. The best similar one is aapt not found under the right path. My problem is that I can be using Eclipse for a whole evening programming, compiling and using my device, and then suddenly I get "error executing aapt" for my current project and ofcourse R.java isn't (properly) generated anymore. I then restart Eclipse and everything goes away. I'm seeing this once a day on average however. I've recently switched to amd64 and installed the latest Android-2.3 SDK and matching tools. I know that there is now a platform-tools folder that has an aapt version that should work SDK version independently. At first I had added this directory to my PATH, as instructed on the SDK website. I've also tried not adding it to my path and making a link platforms/android-9/tools so that every SDK version might use it's own old copy. Needless to say, platform-tools/aapt is there and has the right permissions, and I have been able to execute it on the command-line at any time. When I do write a faulty xml file or sorts, and appropriately get an error, I see an extra line that says "aapt: /lib32/libz.so.1: no version information available". I'm running a recent Gentoo linux system. I have everything installed to support x86 on amd64, but have re-emerged emul-linux-x86-baselibs and zlib just to be sure. The problem persists. I do see some pages that spell horror over some zlib bugs, but I'm not sure if that's related. I realize I'm not on the reference Ubuntu platform, but surely the difference cannot be that great? It might very well be a bug in aapt or the tools itself. Why would it suddenly stop working? I also experience that the ids in R.java were incorrect, namely that simple findViewById() code would give ClassCastExceptions because of mixed ids the one time, and then work perfectly without any changes bu only a "clean project", in the aftermath of a failing aapt. When I recently was trying to export a signed apk, I ran into another error message (full details from the Eclipse error view) regarding aapt I hadn't seen before. Note here too, that I can just restart Eclipse and can export apks again without problems, at least for a little while. I'm starting to think it is related to lack of memory on my system. The message "onvoldoende geheugen beschikbaar" means "insufficient memory available". I have also been seeing insufficient memory errors in DDMS when I'm dumping HPROF files. • How to bootstrap NAnt environment from an existing solution (.sln)

  I have a Visual Studio 2005 solution (.sln) with a mix of .NET and C++ projects. What is the best way to generate the .build file I will need to run my build process with NAnt. I'm new to using NAnt, and I'm not sure how to set it up. Will I have to update the .build file manually every time there is a new source file in any of the projects? Is there a tool that will generate the files for NAnt from the .sln and studio project files?

• How can I properly use environment variables encoded as Windows-1251 in Perl?

  I have an environment variable set in Windows as TEST=abc£ which uses Windows-1252 code page. Now, when I run a Perl program test.pl this environment value comes properly. When I call another Perl code - test2.pl from test1.pl either by system(..) or Win32::Process, the environment comes garbled. Can someone provide information why this could be and way to resolve it? The version of perl I am using is 5.8. If my understanding is right, perl internally uses utf-8, so the initial process - test1.pl received it right from Windows-1252 → utf-8. When we call another process, should we convert back to Windows-1252 code page?

• Powershell 2.0 Hang When Run From MsDeploy pre- post- ops using c/

  I am trying to invoke powershell during the preSync call in a MSDeploy command, but powershell does not exit the process after it has been called. The command (from command line): "tools/MSDeploy/msdeploy.exe" -verb:sync -preSync:runCommand="powershell.exe -NoLogo -NoProfile -NonInteractive -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command C:/MyInstallPath/deploy.ps1 Set-WebAppOffline Uninstall-Service ",waitInterval=60000 -usechecksum -source:dirPath="build/for-deployment" -dest:wmsvc=BLUEPRINT-X86,username=deployer,password=deployer,dirPath=C:/MyInstallPath I used a hack here (http://therightstuff.de/2010/02/06/How-We-Practice-Continuous-Integration-And-Deployment-With-MSDeploy.aspx) that gets the powershell process and kills it but that didn't work. I also tried taskkill and the sysinternals equivalent, but nothing will kill the process so that MSDeploy errors out. The command is executed, but then just sits there. Any ideas what might be causing powershell to hang like this? I have found a few other similar issues around the web but no answers.

• Find new messages added to an imap mailbox since I last checked with python libimap2?

  I am trying to write a program that monitors an IMAP mailbox and automatically copies every new incoming message into an "Archive" folder. I'm using imaplib2 which implements the IDLE command. But the response from recent() doesn't make sense to me, and after the first message I never get any other notifications. Anyone know how to do this?

  with vs 2008 I always used Web Deployment Project to build to three different environments. It is maybe not the best solution, since I still have to xcopy the built files to the server, but it is simple. now with vs 2010 it looks promising, but It looks also complicated. My hosting doesn't have Web Deploy, the newest feature and the flagship technology for deployment in vs2010. My question how can I just build for each environment and copy the files over to the server. Using the Build Deployment Package will create the zip file and when I extract it, it will output so many files and confusing folder structure. Anyone has suggestion?

• Setting classpath java for use in Runtime.exec

  I am trying to spawn a process using Runtime.exec. I want to use my current classpath : System.getProperty("java.class.path") Unfortunately, I am having all kinds of issues. When it works on my mac, it doesn't work on Windows. And doesn't work on my mac ever when there is a space in the classpath.   Hi, I am writing some kind of IPC functionality and need to pass certain resources from one process to another. This works well for Pipe handles etc. which can be duplicated via DuplicateHandle. Now I need to pass a HDC from one process to the other. Is this even possible? If yes: how? Sub-Question: I am assuming passing window handles (HWND) from one process to the other is safe. • Why is MonoDevelop compiling with csc.exe?

  I am trying to use MonoDevelop (2.4 beta 1) on Windows (7 x64) in order to test a .NET application on Mono (2.6.4). For some reason MonoDevelop is not using the Mono tool chain to build the application. It compiles it with the Microsoft tool chain - C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\csc.exe. The project I am trying to build is a simple ASP.NET MVC application generated from the "New ASP.NET MVC application" template. The "Runtime Version" dropdown in Project \Options-Build-General shows "MONO/.NET 35". What gives? Is there a way to change the .NET tool chain?

One problem is database locks. What are the best practices on working with several thousands of files to avoid locking and efficiently processing these files? • LLVM: bitcode with llvm-gcc (mingw) for windows

  Hi, i'm currently building a small JIT compiler. For the language I need a runtime library for some special math functions. I think the best would be to compile the lib to bitcode and link it. The compiler should be integrated in a product and as of this, it must work under windows (VC10, 64bit). So is it possible to build the math lib with the mingw llvm-gcc build an link it later with the JITed Code? Or are there any problems regarding the portability of the bitcode build with llvm-gcc under mingw? If there are problems, what solution would you suggest?

• Can we generate multiple coverage reports using Hudson Emma plugin

  We run both unit (junit) and system (fit) tests on instrumented code in our build. The consolidated coverage report for both is generated as part of the build itself. We then feed the unit test coverage report to the Hudson Emma plugin, configure benchmark numbers and things work nicely. Is it possible to also feed in the system test coverage report separately to the same plugin so that we can get that report and configure benchmarks for that as well? I know there is a workaround of creating a downstream project for the latter activity but it would be good to be able to do both in the same build.

• Best practices for large solutions in Visual Studio (2008)

  We have a solution with around 100+ projects, most of them C#. Naturally, it takes a long time to both open and build, so I am looking for best practices for such beasts. Along the lines of questions I am hoping to get answers to, are: how do you best handle references between projects should "copy local" be on or off? should every project build to its own folder, or should they all build to the same output folder(they are all part of the same application) are solutions folders a good way of organizing stuff? I know that splitting the solution up into multiple smaller solutions is an option, but that comes with its own set of refactoring and building headaches, so perhaps we can save that for a separate thread :-)

• How can i bundle other files when using cx_freeze?

  I'm using Python 2.6 and cx_Freeze 4.1.2 on a Windows system. I've created the setup.py to build my executable and everything works fine. When cx_Freeze runs it movies everything to the build directory. I have some other files that i would like included in my build directory. How can i do this? The program shoud be running till the processes are running and display output.

• Django ORM and multiprocessing

  Hi, I am using Django ORM in my python script in a decoupled fashion i.e. it's not running in context of a normal Django Project. I am also using the multi processing module. And different process in turn are making queries. The process ran successfully for an hr and exited with this message "IOError: [Errno 32] Broken pipe" Upon futhur diagnosis and debugging this error pops up when I call save() on the model instance. I am wondering Is Django ORM Process save ? Why would this error arise else ? Cheers Ankur
