I have an old Word 2007 document that I don't remember the password for. I'm guessing a brute force attack is the way to go to get it open. Anyone know of any free tools I can use to do this?
My outlook fails when trying to download any message/attachment which is larger than 3Mb and will not download any more emails until I go into my internet email account and delete that message. It is then fine until another large email tries to download to Outlook.
This is happening on an XP machine with Outlook 2000 and a Windows 7 machine with Outlook 2003. I am running McAfee on both machines
For some reason I can't access anything on python.org. nslookup resolves the IP address, but no browser or curl command will fetch anything. It works fine on a VMWare Ubuntu virtual machine and on a Windows machine on the same network. I've checked there's nothing funny in /etc/hosts
I don't know where else to go looking for issues, can anyone suggest anything?
Running OS X 10.5 Leopard

Hi I want to change the default application for some file extensions but doing so also changes the icons (and file type information). Is there any way to do this without also changing its icon?
Alternatively, I can change the application and then change only the icon back afterwards. How would I go about doing this?
In Excel, how does one go about plotting points that don't have an x component that is an x-axis label?
For example, in my graph, the x-components are derived from the cosine function and aren't linear, but Excel is displaying them as if .0016 to .0062 to .0135 is an equal incrementation.
How would I change this so that the x-axis has an even incrementation without altering the integrity of the points themselves? In other words, how do I plot a point with an x component independent from the x-axis label?
I'm losing a lot of precious vertical screen real estate to the fat border at the top of each window. is there anything I can do to make it go away or get it down to 2 pixels?
I have a virtual machine which is currently using a folder on the C: drive to store its snapshots. I have copied the contents of the "Snapshots" folder to an alternate drive, but whenever I go into the General / Advanced settings section for that virtual machine and change the snapshot folder to the new location it resets back to the original location. What do I need to do to get VirtualBox to recognize the new location for the snapshot files?
After an update yesterday my Dell X300 will only boot to a screen with an option to perform 2 memory tests. If I perform these tests, it will only go back to this same screen, offering a choice of memory test again, 86+ or 86+ serial console 115200. This screen is headed - GNU Grub version 1.97 beta 4.
This is a full install on my hard drive.
How can I get back to booting normally?
I have two Ubuntu servers on which I'm trying to upgrade VIM to 7.2, but apt-get install vim only lists version 7.1 which is already installed. Same with a search in aptitude.
I've made sure my sources are updated, but it looks like they're pulling from either 'intrepid' or 'hardy', which I assume is part of the problem.
How should I go about installing 7.2?
Hello,
I am using windows 7 and here is my question :
Is there a way for windows to swtich my audio output to HDMI automatically when a HDMI cable is plugged in ? Right now, to switch the audio output I need to go specify my default output to HDMI everytime I plug it in and set it back to speakers once I plug it out.
Cheers !
I have reinstalled windows xp and posted about not being able to connect to the Interenet. I did go and ensure all drivers are there and now when I type ipconfig/all
I get physical address, dhcp enabled, autoconfiguration enabled, autoconfiguration Ip address, subnet mask and then a line that says default gateway where default gateway is the only line with no numbers or anything next to it. My wireless connection works but how can I get this ethernet connection to work. This was working prior to this fresh reinstall.
I play games on my laptop, and they run at about 30-45 fps, which is bearable for me. But when I try to stream, the frame rate drops to 20 or lower, which is unplayable for me.
I have a second computer though (a Mac, the laptop is Win7), and I'm wondering if there is anyway to stream the game content (onto Twitch.tv) from my laptop using my Mac.
Is this possible, and how would I go about doing it?
Im running ubuntu. I just tried to play supertux but my LCD didnt support the resolution and all i got was a blank screen and music playing. I tried to close it and go back to the desktop by pressing ctrl + z but that didnt work so i had to hard reset my computer!
In future what should i press when this happens?
I'm getting tired of waking up to my computer being turned on, and event log shows that it's waking up everyday at 3:40am and most times won't go back to sleep after the determined 30 minutes (maybe from being in the lock screen?).
There are no devices armed for wake, activation timers are disabled and all wake options disabled in the BIOS and energy star 4.0c is enabled (was disabled before but no difference).

Basically I have a whole bunch of Outlook folder directories with specific emails and attachments in each of them that I want to preserve and place on my C:.
Is it possible to do this or will I need to go through each email individually and save it to whatever folder I want it to be saved in?

I need to open a specific port on my mac client (because when I try to connect from server it says "target machine actively refused it ").My problem though is I cannot find a way to add a specific port on my latest Mac OS.
I go to system pref-securtiy &privacy-firewall- turn it on (FWIW
connection didnt work when I had turned it off)-Firewall options-"+"
This gives me an option to add some application but not a port .Can someone point me to the right place to add the port?
Currently I am running Solr by just opening up a cmd prompt on my windows 2008 server, and running java -jar start.jar.
This seems like a hack, since if I reboot my server I have to go and manually restart it.
Is there a way for me to automate the startup for this?
When writing a long command in the *nix command line and having to go back to the first character, in order to add something at the beginning (for instance a nohup, when you realize the process will be a long one, or a sudo, when you realize you need root permissions) it can take a long time for the cursor to make its way back to the first character...
Is there a short cut that allows you to jump straight there?
I'm using a mac, so Home is not an option
I tried typing cmd or cmd.exe at the bash line which then takes to the DOS shell. But from there I tried executing something like trial.bat which contains some lines to access a series of executable commands, but to no avail. Is this the correct way to go about it? Thanks ~
my domain has a domain extension that since my country is not supported by Google Apps I can't use that lovely GApps services for that domain.
I need free email service of GApps the most, so I decided to give a go to "Send mail as" feature of a regular Gmail account and add my domain emails to that personal Gmail.
I have a question:
Do I need a SMTP server for my domain to receive email from others?
Thanks in advance :)
