    How I can create thumbnail from url. For example: Like Digg website, when I submit a link, Digg for me chose a Thumbnail from any images on that URL. Or like Facebook, when I submit a link, I can chose a thumbnail for that link. So, how i can do that with asp.net/C#. I just want create thumbnail (not Screen Shot of web page) Thanks so much.

    Hi, i'm creating a mvc application and i'll use under subdomain like _http://myapp.mycompany.com, this subdomain is pointing to app subdirectory, but my actions are generated with applicationPath (subdirectory) always: _http://myapp.mycompany.com/myapp/Home/About. i want _http://myapp.mycompany.com/Home/About only, without applicationPath prefix. Exists any configuration for this?? I'm using the correct methods: <%= Html.ActionLink("About", "About", "Home") % Actions rendered without ApplicationPath prefix, is possible in asp.net routing? * Please, ignore undescore prefix in urls, but i'm novice in stackoverflow and i can't post valid urls =/

    I am trying to understand why after croping an image in .NET i end up with an image 3 times the size of the original image. Listed below is the code i am using to crop the image Private Shared Function CropImage(ByVal img As Image, ByVal cropArea As Rectangle) As Image Dim bmpImage As Bitmap = New Bitmap(img) Dim bmpCrop As Bitmap = bmpImage.Clone(cropArea, img.PixelFormat) Return CType(bmpCrop, Image) End Function where img is the original image loaded from file into an image object.   • No postback on any button click on ASP.NET 4.0 application

    The weird thing is If there is a javascript onClick() on a button, postback works otherwise, there is no postback. This was working very recently. I am not sure what recent changes made to the application made this happening throughout the site. The solution suggested by this link does not work as well (that link is applicable to .NET 1.1 though). Any idea whats going on?

  • Clear Asp.Net cache from outside of application (not using source code)

    Hi, I have a asp.net web application and I'm using cache (HttpRuntime.Cache) to save some stuff from db. I also update db from time to time so that data in db does not match the data in my application's cache. Is there any way how to clear my application's cache without modifying any source code or republishing the page? I tried to restart IIS and to clear browsers cache but nothing helps. Please help.

    For the life of me I cannot deserialize the protobuf file from Open Street Maps. I am trying to deserialize the following extract: http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/north-america/us-northeast.osm.pbf to get Nodes and I am using http://code.google.com/p/protobuf-net/ as the library. I have tried to deserialize a bunch of different objects but they all come up null.     I have a "MustInherit" .NET class which declares a constructor with an integer parameter. However, Visual Studio gives me an error when I create any derived class stating that there is no constructor that can be called without any arguments. Is it possible to inherit the constructor with arguments? Right now, I have to use Public Sub New(ByVal A As Integer) MyBase.New(A) End Sub in the derived classes. Is there any way to avoid this?

    I wonder how long will an ASP.NET (MVC) application run, when no new requests come in? Lets say I'm using an IOC Container ans have a Singleton Object serving to the clients. As far as I know it will serve different page requests. But how long will it live when no new request come in? Is there any timeout (maybe configured through IIS) that says when my app will shut down?
